For filling down the blank cells with the name of the of the regions, this prompt also works wonderfully "For the 'Region' column, please replace 'Unknown' with the region name. For example, 'West' or 'East'. The word 'Unknown' should be swapped for the region name entered before it in the column.".
Thanks for the video. I might be wrong but I don't think ChatGPT is sophisticated enough (yet) to clean bad data efficiently. In your example, it would probably be just as fast as for an experienced Excel user to clean the data himself rather than spend the time uploading file, asking ChatGPT what to do exactly, checking the results and then downloading the file. One of the data clean up tasks I need to do is to copy/paste the list of executive team members from various corporate websites (i.e. Bank of Bahrain & Kuwait, Bendura Bank, Bahrain Islamic Bank etc) into Excel then arrange the pasted data into nice neat columns showing first name, any middle names, last name and the job title. The pasted-in text always is in a completely different structure from each corporate website and there is normally a lot of superfluous information too. I'd love to be proved wrong but after writing a different request for each different collection of text belonging to a corporate website then checking the results then refining the prompt, I think I'd be faster just doing it myself manually.
Thank you for creating great tutorials!!! What version of ChatGPT are you using? I have a free version and it does not include a feature to attach an excel file. I asked my ChatGPT what version can perform this task and the free version of ChatGPT informed me that this feature (to attach excel file) does not exist in any ChatGPT, including the paid version. I am perplexed by this answer... Clearly, there is a way to get it done. Could you share what Chat GPT I need? Thank you!
Sure! I'm using ChatGPT-4 in this demon, the paid version. It is referred to as the Plus account in ChatGPT, I think, and is currently $20 a month. You can upload files and also ask it for downloadable files. It can also create images and has powerful data analysis capabilities.
Yes, there is a limit. A few thousand rows generally but can depend on various factors such as number of columns, data size and complexity etc. This space is changing rapidly though.
Love that video. One comment though, on the dates. Problems with partly converted dates during import are often caused by Excel expecting m/d/y whereas the dates are in d/m/y order (or vice versa). What people tend to oversee is that it isn't just the left-aligned cells which are wrong. Those right-aligned cells are wrong as well, they have been misinterpreted and their days and months are reversed! ChatGPT does not pick this up in your video (I would have been really surprised if it had).

Your videos are really helpful mate. Keep doing this good work.
Are you offering any advanced excel courses?
Thank you. That is much appreciated.
Sure! I offer courses online and in-person. These are my online courses - www.udemy.com/user/alanmurray4/

Thanks, Jan Karel. I'll check this. I did not notice.
