I carry at 3. The reckoning with the claw is awesome. Doesn't print at all and thats with a full size hk vp9. No matter how you carry, practice all the time. Muscle memory is speed, and speed is king IMO. Great video man
I dont care how long the holster video is. Its packed with good information, and thats whats important to me. You nailed it and i am quite impressed with this video. I need the comfort and the security features . It looks like youve covered quite a bit of information about how to chose the best holster for wt i need. Thank You for this video.
I'd advise new gun owners or CCW holders do the following... 1: Do NOT 🚫 go cheap! Do not buy a $900 firearm then get a $9 holster. Look at well made brands, makers. Some shops offer great products but you might wait 4-6mo. Keep gear clean, check it often. Rotate your carry ammunition, rounds out every 3-4mo. If your ammunition or pistol gets wet, in water; REMOVE those rounds & replace them. Ammunition is not meant to sit in magazine holders for 5yr.
"do not go cheap!" Another way of saying this is buy once cry once. Please take this advice to heart. As someone who has a box full of shit holsters that add up in price to more than my well made holsters combined, this man is speaking the truth.
When I started concealed carry I bought a crossbreed IW for my XDS. It’s been about a year since than. I saw you did a video on another brand and bought one of them. Used for about 3 months and went back to the crossbreed way more comfortable in the 8 o’clock position ( I’m left handed). Great video 👍
What’s good, Chad? Hope all is well. I’m not a fan of behind the back carry. First of all, if you’re on your back and someone’s crashing your skull into the ground it’s going to be hard to unholster and present. I also don’t like that every time I bend over to pick up my kid I feel the gun is sticking out. I’m a fan of appendix carry, but I’m not a fan of re-holstering while appendix carry. I always carry a round in the chamber. Good holster and trigger discipline.
Vedder Holsters AIWB Light Tuck is very comfortable. I have 3 that I carry, A G19 Gen 5, A Springfield HellCat, and a Springfield XDM Elite 4.5 inch. and they are all very comfortable to carry in the Vedder Holsters. All the Vedder Holsters have a claw which helps with concealment.
I purchased a holster over the summer which was for appendix carry on my G19.5 and admittedly it was a cheaper kydex holster. I have issues with printing especially when the weather is warmer. With my birthday being in the beginning of November I am definitely thinking its time to treat myself to a much better holster. Going to give Crossbreed a try.
Excellent video. Very informative, great points, and examples. Answered all of my questions and it doesn't hurt that you used the holster that I was thinking about getting. Thanks for the info.
Alright, so normally I watch stuff like this and you have some 6'5" Texan *behemoth* going "I'm kind of a skinny guy, I'm only 190 pounds" There's not a lot of actionable information out there for people who are actually short/skinny. I dunno how big of a guy you are, but you're no Texas Manhandler. This video was great for me, but can I suggest another vid that's titled and tailored for short/skinny guys and their considerations. If you google "Skinny concealed carry" this vid isn't going to come up, but that other vid would probably be pretty close to the top and there's definitely people out there who could use the information. Anyway, great vid. I was actually already checking out a pair of Reckoning Holsters for the wife and I when you mentioned the promo code, it was very lucky timing. Thanks a lot.
I'd add these are respected, well made holster makers, 2020: Safariland, Milt Sparks, Galco, Ted Blocker, Alessi, Mitch Rosen, Kirkpatrick Leather, Don Hume, Tulster, Kramer Gun Leather, Wright Leather Works, Black Hawk(L2C, T series).
Great video but I’m a boomer and really don’t care if my firearm is concealed! I’m aware that my comment will receive harsh criticism! Please keep in mind I’m old school but doesn’t reflect this terrific vid Chad!
@_ David _ thx brother! It might help knowing that in the small town I’m in self proclaimed “cowboy capital of the world”, Bandera TX....we “roll” like that! It’s always open carry and we let you know we do!!!! But I expected a smart ass comment!
@_ David _ I appreciate you as my brother in arms & totally understand your legit point....but could I be too old to care?! Maybe I’m suffering from the “dare you” syndrome?! Ha
Midnight Hour Definitely your choice - ain’t America great! Florida is not open carry; even it it were, I’d prefer concealed (another element of surprise), if I were ever in a place where I did carry open in public, I’d have at least a Level II holster, AND, have AIWB concealed. Enjoy!
Simply Rugged Pancake holster with IWB straps ... can’t break them ... most allow strong side or cross draw ... bonus: you can add IWB loops for easy on easy off.
I have the reckoning system from crossbreed and the one thing I really dislike about it is that the mag carrier does hold the mag snug, it rocks around a tiny bit and even could fall out if I bent over at too much of an angle. I found this is an issue the most when taking the holster off and going to place it down, if I don’t set it down extremely softly the mag could slide out.
@@black79montecarlo123 thanks for the reply. I am a goofball and I realized they that there is a way to adjust retention but I never saw it. I appreciate it though.
Great tips. I’m just looking for my first holster, and you’ve given me some things to think about. One thing I can find any videos on is how you will need to change all of your pants for iwb. I’m a slim guy and my pants fit. Looks like to carry every day, I’ll need to buy all new pants a with a bigger waist size. This is expensive to do and being small already, it’ll look like I’m wearing potato sacks for pants. As a slim guy, what do you do?
This is a bit of a struggle for everyone. My solution has been to buy my pants just big enough that I can squeeze a holster in there, i.e a little tight with a gun, a little loose without, and just sinch up my belt when not carrying. It's not ideal, but it's better than having to have two sets of pants. Getting a slimmer pistol and carrying frequently helps mitigate the need for different pants as well. I'm afraid your only other option is something with an elasticized waistband. There are some options out there that aren't sweatpants like 5.11s, stretch jeans, etc. Still, though, it's a bit of a PITA.
Received two Crossbreed holsters for Christmas. I can’t seem to get either one to sit comfortably. Any tips for a guy with a little extra belly weight?
Thanks for all the great reviews Chad. What happened to the Black Arch? I was planning on getting one because of your review, but I didn't hear you even mention it.
Hidden Hybrid is the best in my opinion. They use .093 kydex compared to .080 and .060 and thick leather so not to collapse. I will never use anyone else's.
Great video! Alot of helpful information. I recently got a Reckoning holster for my Hellcat OSP. Love the gun and holster. I am finding it is printing a little at the AIWB position. Crossbreed doesn't sell wing/claw for the Reckoning. Where did you get the one on your Reckoning holster? Thanks!
You carry appendix for speed of the draw but yet you don't cary one in the pipe thus having to chamber your weapon " in a stressful situation ", doesn't make sense.
@chad Christopher have you tried 3 speed holster? I’m currently trying to get my CCW and am doing research into holsters and ran across 3speed holster and as I’ve liked most of your content (that I have seen so far) was curious of your take. Thanks again for the great vids
Crossbreed, Foxx, or Alien Gear..all with 2 belt clips. I never get a holster with just one belt clip. You cannot control the cant or tilt. Appendix carry is just all ego and no smarts. When something goes wrong - NOT IF - WHEN IT GOES WRONG, it’s going to be UGLY

You covered everything nobody else has covered yet about concealed carry. Gonna have my reckoning system tomorrow. Great video.
This is one of, if not the best in detail and production for iwb holsters on all of RUclips! thank you
I have a crossbreed and a white hat holster. I’ve had my white hat for 8 years, the kydex may be thin, but it’s still a damned good holster.

What is the most important requirement for appendix carry??? Sit-ups! Lots and lots of sit-ups!!!
I’m a little overweight and i carry appendix. Not so bad
I'm not his size but appendix isn't going to work for me.
The appendix carry works for me as long as I'm standing up! When sitting and trying to sit it is the most uncomfortable holster I've ever used.

ive spent almost a thousand bucks trying to find the right carry holster. currently on the tier1 axis slim...
By FAR the best video on the topic. Well done!
Aliengear core carry is the best I've ever owned. Comfortable. Durable. Amazing.
I looked a lot at them but the don’t have light or red dot cuts. 😢
I just bought the reckoning and I really like it. Great video.
I have the reckoning with the tacos on it...... love it.

Get a heat gun and form it to your mag better. Crossbreed should have done better but really easy to do yourself.
