    How can you truly know that you're one of His sheep? What worries me is, "I never knew you." Yes God does it all, but how do you know He did it for you?

    But how can I know if Christ died for me? I don't have that information. How can I know if I'm elect? That's my biggest hangup. If I knew I was elect It would be easy to believe.

    My lack of assurance right now is because I'm struggling with the unpardonable sin. I've confessed Him openly and have shared the gospel and i exhibit fruit of repentance but years ago I said some disrespectful words about the HolyGhost. I cussed at Him and said He was a liar. I said He was evil (though that time it was honestly out of confusion because I misunderstood a passage of Scripture). The only thing I didnt do (at least I dont think I did) was attribute Christs miracles to Satan. I was on heavy meds at the time. Methadone. My memory is clouded because of a life of drug abuse. Also, getting confused about Gods decree of my sin lead to a negative disposition because thinking God wants me to sin against Him and I have no choice. Misunderstanding Calvinism and Gods character led to being traumatized. I have since gotten off the Methadone and have repented but it still haunts me.

      It would not bother you if you had committed the unpardonable sin. You would not be interested in listening to biblical preaching. You need to talk to a pastor.

    • @Music-zm5bi
      @Music-zm5bi Год назад

      @@nancyarnold1976 Yes I've heard and my pastor assurs me that I haven't committed it because the passage is talking about ultimately rejecting Christ which is the only way to be forgiven of any sins. I've heard other teachers and the several I've heard say I haven't committed it either, but I have really bad ocd and not understanding scripture or trusting their teachings makes it difficult.

      Dear one, Jesus foretold of two mens denial of Him. One openly denied Him THREE times and was forgiven. One secretly denied Him and it was better if he had never been born.
      Your concern over this is a good indication that the Lord has softened your heart and drawn you to Him.
      Repent and receive Gods free grace!

      This is a big reason I left the Reformed Faith. Assurance of salvation is completely subjective based on your own measuring of how you live up to the beatitudes. Conspicuously absent is the role of the church in conveying the grace of absolution and other assuring benefits coming from the sacraments. The sacraments assure you of your salvation. Those sacraments are God’s gift to His church. I became Catholic and no longer have any doubts about my standing before God. Jesus gave his church the power to forgive sin. John 20:23 No Reformed church I ever attended believed it had that authority. They were right. That’s why I left.
