Starting bans at Gold would probably best. Bronze and silver you get to play everything and find what you like and dont like. Gold you learn to be more flexible.
The only reason such a thing could be good _(Specifically in Marvel Rivals and it’s Competitive mode with it’s current format Open Queue),_ is just that, *forcing players TO LEARN to be more flexible and be good or at least decent at several heroes,* instead of just playing a singular hero or only a few heroes they’re exceptionally good at, spread across the 3 or 2 roles, of course, that is ok to do in that way, in a Competitive mode with an Open Queue format mode but, in “Role Queue” *or should I say **_ROLE LOCK…_* it’s an entirely different story.. as well as actual *Role Queue* _(being an entirely different story too)_ and NOT _ROLE LOCK_ *disguised* as “Role Queue” just like what happened with Original Overwatch and it’s incompetent dev team, and say if they consider Role Queue, they should be 100% transparent to the community on what and how they actually understand Role QUEUE to be and tell us, the community, if they understand AND KNOW (preferably) what is actual Role Queue or if they’re accidentally mistaking Role LOCK to be, Role QUEUE because they think *LOCKING* PLAYERS ON THE ROLES THEY CHOSE _(like Overwatch (1) and Overwatch 2 dev team)_ is “Role Queue”? No. *THAT* is *NOT* ACTUAL ROLE *QUEUE* and so, then we the community, could correct them and tell them that *Role Queue* ACTUAL *Role QUEUE* in reality would be more like *ALLOWING* players to *still* be able to play OTHER HEROES from the OTHER ROLES *but* ONLY, *limited* to THE HEROES they play…. Now. _I see problems like the community having disagreements on what Role Queue actually is, or how it would actually function and therefore having different _*_interpretations_*_ on _*_the actual_*_ Role Queue format mode, and all that but.. that’s an entirely different subject so, I’ll save it for a separate comment to it._
Because we don't lol we don't got that kinda time, I get an hour or two of gaming there's no need to ban the hero I play and force me to choose my second favorite hero that could be taken.
@@I.K.E.L.O.S no one just plays one hero the point is platinum players aren't good so they don't need all these restrictions like the higher players do. There's no point just let the noobs play their favorite hero.
agree with you Sty, but you missed something important in my opinion - not having hero bans in lower ranks indirectly encourages smurfing. Seen loads of OTP hela or hawkeye rolling silver & gold lobbies. When you ask them why they smurf they just respond their hero is banned at their rank.
Respectfully this is a stupid argument. You can’t stop someone from smurfing and smurfs will tell you anything. I’m a person who smurfs if im good at a game and has over 100 accounts per game I play and trust that you’ll say anything to get people to shut up. At the end of the day there is a multitude of reasons why people smurf and you can never truly stop smurfs. I use to smurf to prove I deserved my rank, then i smurfed just to get a win when i lose in my own elo, then you playtest characters on different accounts, then you have accounts to play with friends, then you dont want to be competitive and low elo games allow you to chill, etc. I mean there’s so many reasons to make an alt account and it’s generally so easy and not time consuming by any means. Oh you made a level requirement? Cool I’ll just buy the accounts from someone else or depending on how hard the xp requirement is I’ll do the grind myself real quick.
@@magiic3871god this is the logic behind smurfs? That's pathetic. Go play quick play if you want an easy win. Otherwise you're just flipping the entire game state just bc you're too bad in your appropriate level to reach any higher which is just so stupidly pathetic I can't even think of a better word right now.
@ Smurfing isn’t often about easy wins. Many smurfs can play in their own rank and dominate and do so. Smurfs often play “ranked” games because that’s the only time players will care to play. Rarely will you get a game in non ranked where players put forth effort. Those games often result in players leaving or giving up. There’s been some stats that came out regarding smurfing I don’t remember the exact details and it was a survey based research but it was something like 60-80% of players admitted to having been smurfs before and yet all of them agreed smurfing was “bad”. All smurfs are not equal in skill or reason behind why they smurf. Sometimes it’s your favorite youtuber doing a “special video” or “educational content”. Other times it can be some guy that’s just upset about a loss on their main, or they’re main is temporarily banned. It’s kind of just the nature of the game to be honest.
I would actually love having the ban system in lower ranks. I absolutely despise Hawkeye. Just lob shots at a group of players or at a corner and get at least a few kills without actual aiming or skill. I'm not saying Hawkeye doesn't take skill, a actually good Hawkeye is absolutely wild, but I hate that most of what I see is someone basically spraying and praying with arrows.
@@allthatishere Its a SEASONAL buff, its not permanent. next season will be gone. Widow Might get the buff next season and it will be her turn to get banned.
@@allthatishere You are confusing which buff they are talking about. You see the Circlular icon next to characters (Mainly the Leader character), Those are seasonal and will go change the next season. The Teamups will stay, the Seasonals will change. Season Buffs also are always on regardless if the teamup not active. Scarlet Witch, who is already weak, will lose her Damage buff next season and become even worst. Hawkeye & Hela gonna be weaker, but Hawk is still busted due to how strong his arrows are. Tanks will lose Health bonuses like Hulk and Venom.
tbh id rather have actives devs that balance the game quickly and frequently rather than just deleting said character out of the meta with bans but i know thats asking for alot
I'd like the game to hide the enemy team until after the bans are made to prevent targeted bans entirely, but other then that just roll it out across all of ranked. If bronze players enjoy the game more with iron fist banned then let em do that.
Also only in the highest lvls do people remember one tricks. So if you made it to the top of the ranks 1 tricking might be time for you to learn a new hero.
The issue I see at lower ranks is that most people won't necessarly know who to ban, or it will devolve in always the same hero being banned. You do need a modicum of game knowledge to properly use the ban feature. As for the dominant heros in the meta, I think it is more a question of balance than anything else really. If the same heroes are getting in a disproportiante amount compared to the other that's a sign there is an issue with those heroes. The ban are just a band aid.
What's the big deal if people don't know who to ban? Like just pick something it doesn't really matter that much lol. If people are really unsure and don't want people to get mad at who they ban, they can just ask their team. This was never an issue in paladins, the worst that happens is disagreements on which characters people feel are worth banning. But someone not knowing who to ban was never really a problem, they'll just pick something. The bans are a band aid but it's a quality of life thing that means that the players don't have to wait for the devs to fix everything. It gives players more agency and idk how that's a bad thing.
i have two friends who quit the game because they got eaten by jeff. bronze & low silver players also complain a lot about iron fist. they know who is broken in their rank or to them. just because there's a different meta doesn't mean they don't know who to ban
For me and my group we ranked up really quick But elo hell for us was plat 1 - diamond 3 because the ban system changed the whole game for us, Hawkeye and hela being banned changed the meta ( with Strange, snow, mantis being typical bans too), and we would lose a game , lose the ban system and go back to those hero’s dominating games but then rank up and so on Still tho loving where this game is and how they have implemented a lot of cool things !
I don’t like the idea of banning characters. It’s fine when someone else picks my fav character first, so I play my next favorite but to have them not accessible at all is annoying.
I never knew the hero ban was such a strange concept. It's very normal in League of Legends. But Lol has a lot more champions than Overwatch and Marvel Rivals. So 10 bans is like 6% of the roster. But I understand for people who only play shooter feels like it's a big feature. But for moba like League and Smite, the Ban draft system is common and must have in Ranked.
Yeah I don't get the fuss tbh. I mean I played a ton of paladins so it's very normal to me to have bans. It feels like most the people who don't want bans have a more casual mindset. I haven't really heard any good arguments for why it's bans are a bad system competitively outside of "balance the game." Which is a dumb argument imo because there's always going to be a meta, bans help to make it less stale when that happens.
I don't want hero bans in general. I'm already hoping 5 other players don't choose my hero, now there's a chance ppl hate my char so I NEVER get to play them? No, balance the game better, screw hero bans
THANK YOU, there are so many broken characters that don’t have to AIM to make them broken.. people are out here crying over skill. You CAN miss with hela or Hawkeye.
I think the ultimate thing to note about rivals that fixes the “new players don’t know who’s broken” problem is that Rivals requires you to get your account to level 10 before you can try ranked. This means your newbies have to gain some experience to actually play with bans on, even if bans are enabled as low as bronze
2:23 Reminds me of R6 Siege. To lower levels Caviera is seen as the MUST ban operator. To high skilled players she is a non issue and is never banned compared to others.
Sty framed it as a problem but I don't see the problem. Players will ban who they feel is the most difficult to deal with or simply characters they don't want to deal with. That will be based on experience, it doesn't matter if their ban choices don't align with pro play. The "players won't know what to ban" line doesn't make any sense. Players that don't know and don't care will just pick something random, and players that don't know but don't want to annoy the team will just ask for advice on who to ban.
@ I didn’t see it like that and I got what he was saying. When you get to matches in ranked and you are still super new you may not know who the meta/busted characters are that need to be banned because high skilled players can reek havoc on them…like Hela and Hawkeye. So I got what he meant he was just saying because people are still new they just won’t know. Same thing if I threw someone who has never played a day of Siege on my account and in ranked i told them to ban 2 out of like 50 ops. They’d be confused. All he was also really saying was people at low elo have their boogyman enemies that in higher levels that boogyman is another character all together and the low elo ones are a non factor on Rivals. Like Cav in siege is so easy to counter in higher elo that banning her at high level would be seen as trolling or throwing. But in bronze, maybe low silver for years she was the #1 most banned op. When higher skilled players see her as a non issue.
@@478Johnnyboy when you say "he was just saying if people are still new they won't know who to ban," I'm just like "yes and?" Like what's the issue if people don't know what to ban, and if there is no issue am I just meant to say "yes that is a fact," and move on lol? But then I'm like why even bring that up. Can't you see how that wording of people not knowing what to ban sounds more like a negative thing than a positive thing? To me it's a non issue, and if I feel like anyone who sees it as a non issue wouldn't even bring it up cause there's nothing to say on it. But the fact that sty did bring it up makes it sound like he sees it as a potential issue.
And I mean sty was speaking on the ban system as a way for players to self balance the game, so it sounded like he's saying if low ranks players don't know who to ban, then they're balancing the game incorrectly. But they're "balancing" (tailoring) the game for them and their elo and that's all that matters. And as I said anyone who genuinely is confused on who to ban will ask the team or pick something random. It's not a big deal at all.
_After sleeping on your thoughts Sty, I actually thinking the concept of banning heroes doesn't need to exist at all, and perhaps we're attracted to it because that's what other games have done. The Team Up mechanic offers a new way of playing hero shooters, and that can shake up the meta plenty with some heroes gaining really powerful new abilities, or simply becoming a lot more effective that base level._ _I feel there is a better way to achieve what banning aims for. Diminishing returns, forced switching of heroes team-wide and other methods feel better than telling someone "No. You can't play that hero." which only hurts one player realistically._
@@slingz847 They should want to nerf characters, at least new or buffed characters. They might not be aware of things that the players will exploit that may make the game broken.
The only problem I see with the lower ranks having the ban system is that, as you said, nobody would know who to ban, so they would most likely just ban the heroes they find annoying. That's good for the fun factor, but it would create situations where say, bronze and silver players ban Jeff and Iron Fist because they are a nightmare for noobs. Then they hit gold/plat, and people start banning heroes like Hela and Hawkeye, but then they are still dying to Jeff and Iron Fist because they never learned how to deal with them. Then their team gets mad at them because they should know how to deal with both Jeff and Iron Fist by then.
You just made up an issue that doesn't exist. Players that can't hang in a rank for whatever reason (which could include them not being able to deal with certain characters that get left open,) will simply get stuck in the rank before. That's how competitive games with a rank system work. It's always about carrying your team if you want to climb as an individual so it doesn't matter if some players can't deal with whoever is left open in new elos. But the argument also just doesn't make sense cause it's not just the characters themselves that decides who people ban, it's the way people play in whatever ranks that decides bans. For example lower rank players tend to have lower awareness which can make flanker type characters much stronger in low elos. If you're in a higher elo you probably have higher awareness and so you won't struggle as much vs those characters. Another example is Hela may get left open in low ranks because people can't aim very well so she's not a problem but the easy spam dmg of squirrel girl might be really good there. But whoever is good enough to climb out of that rank probably now has better aim and understands why hela is banned and squirrel girl being left open is irrelevant cause everyone in the lobby aims better on average so now squirrel girls dmg is too inconsistent compared to others.
getting better at dealing characters like jeff, iron fist, iron man, etc. will come with just getting better at the game. as a c&d main, I know when their jeff has ult and I'm listening for his sound queue for when he's initiating it so that I can be on cloak. I can survive iron fist through cooldown management and positioning. Iron man can be countered by players who can aim and look up. Even if you don't go up against those characters, I'd hope you'd still develop the basic awareness, positioning, and mechanical skills required to deal with them. In short, if I can deal with a storm, thor, or spiderman, I could also likely deal with someone like an iron man or iron fist.
so you want to punish the person who played Hela if they're very accurate, and force him to play a different hero? why? he deserves the right to win, he earned his accuracy. if your first priority is to enjoy your time, and you want to see people change up their team setup... play quick match instead of competitive? the implied purpose of competitive is that the priority is to win
EXACTLY!!!! They are celebrating too. Like you don’t have to aim to be good with those characters. It’s pathetic that in a competitive mode people want it to be easier.
0:54 I know you don't like paladins but as someone who had a ton of hours in that game before OW, the lack of a hero ban system was a LARGE reason why I preferred paladins at the time.
I don’t believe blizzard would be dumb enough to implement the hero band system. Because instantly Widowmaker, tracer and mercy would be banned off the top. And if they implement the system across every rank then all of the one trick mercy players would RAGE something like we’ve never seen before🤣. It’s a great implementation in theory, but it would snowball and completely kill their game.
A big difference between the bans in Rivals and the hypothetical bans in OW: players know from the start that bans exist in Rivals. If you're a "one-trick" player and get to diamond, you know that your character can be banned and should already have backup characters you are familiar with and can play instead.
Plat should be where it starts because it’s where team comp starts to really matter as well as not making ppl hard throw in the higher ranks because they got one trick banned out of nowhere
Who else thinks that there are bots in the game? I have noticed in some qp games that some players behave like bots. Twitchy movements, odd decisions, just in general bizarre behaviour. Who has seen something similar?
I think it makes sense for bans to be in every rank in the competitive mode - by the time players can actually play ranked they have to be level 10 which means they have played at least a few hours of the game. I think at this point they will have likely found a hero that they dislike playing against. Even if they don't, it doesn't really matter, they can opt to not pick a hero or maybe pick a random one.
20:43 dota 2 has a system that tells you your heroes win rate with heroes on your team and heroes on the enemy team during hero selection when you hover over them
Im against bans in lower ranks, people need to learn how to deal with stuff in metal ranks...keep it the way it is but the hero ban is a good system overall
Ive experienced the hero ban thing in LoL and honestly I can see these being helpful for everyone. There are characters i despise playing against and can do well against others, i could ban heroes who are good or ban heroes who are always beating me. Theres choices to be made to affect the team and deal with the enemies and if you arent able to flex you will be deadweight in the future.
The way I'd do it is to make it so you have to be level 15 to play comp and have hero bans silver and up. By the time players reach these 2 milestones they should have at least 1 hero they'd want to see banned.
It’s crazy I recently made it to One above all ranks because they kept target banning my main so I picked up another hero and it basically help me get better
One time I was playing with this wolverine player. And you guessed it the guy sucked. We lost because of him. Next game THE SAME GUY is on my team again. And still sucked. I haven't played ranked since. Left a bad taste in my mouth.
@ i dont think im crazy to say that if you take them off wolverine they probably would have played worse. That just sounds like a bad player. Not someone locking wolverine on purpose to lose games
moving it to gold i feel like would make the most sense u should be able to solo carry games in bronze/silver if you are skilled enough and in moving it lower will help the playerbase branch out at a lower rank while also discouraging oneticking. i mainly played magik/luna snow till i hit diamond and luna gets banned every game (yesterday 9 out of 11 matches she was banned) and now i am stuck mid diamond as i am learning more heroes. if bans were introduced at a lower rank i would have ended up branching out earlier and would have been easier to practice in lower ranks
You can farm on any character in low ranks and climb as long as you’re good. I think low rank dont need bans bc its a lot of casual players that are there to play their hero in a more competitive structure. from bronze to gold try learning multiple heroes, a good 2 or 3. that way when you reach gold you can select the character you perform best on to climb
17:12 if you don't understand the tanks struggles at your ranks level as a support, you shouldn't be support at that level, this is how you largely get alot of toxicity, that support knows how to play support very well, when things go how they're used too, but because they don't have all the knowledge of how the game plays out because they don't fully understand how tank functions in their role from first hand experience, they'll have major gaps in their knowledge but they'll have the rank to make them feel like they should be winning with how they're playing, which will cause them to blame the tank when that poor tanks just got to much on his hands and hus support doesn't understand that they need to be more aggressive when that tanks dealing with this more niche situation, this is all very vague as these games are unbelievably complex but thats exactly why if you wanna be in high ranks, you should know how every part of this super complex game functions at their rank otherwise you're gonna have gapped knowledge which leads to a whole cornucopia of other issues... So open queue is just the superior format for learning these games, I should be rewarded more for being able to get all my roles in overwatch to masters, more than a support who can only get support to masters, my knowledge is vastly better than theirs at our rank, and often times you'll find many of these players, Especially dps who just are good at fragging out, are just that, only good at their few things and they ride or die on those thing and those are always the most toxic players.
I would like to see it at all ranks , different ranks will have different metas based on skill level and should have access to other ban data other than just high elo.
i agree with bans being put in all ranks some heros might be broken in one rank but bad in another players rank and a ban system gives players a choice over what heros they do and dont want to play against.
Can anyone explain how the seasonal boosts work? It says Thor has +100 hp but I always start at 600, does this mean normally Thor will have 500? Cuz if so that switch is gonna be ass😂
I like how Rivals is doing things with bans only at high ranks, but I wouldn't want bans in Overwatch at all. They're two different experiences for various reasons. One example: imagine the enemy team played Mauga because he didn't get banned, but the enemy team banned Ana and Sigma/D.Va for your team so you aren't able to reliably deny his sustain. You are at quite a disadvantage there. Bans in Rivals are fine because it doesn't affect things as much. Many characters can easily be replaced by another and it's easier to learn multiple heroes since not many are all that complex. There aren't as many unique, impactful, or hard counter characters in Rivals compared to Overwatch. Like, I don't really feel the need to switch to any specific character just because I see the enemy team has a Venom, Thor, Hulk, Captain America, Jeff, Psylocke, etc versus if I see Hog, Mauga, Doomfist, Genji, Sombra, etc in Overwatch.
I think it should be starting at gold. Listening to this made me think that they should make a bonus game mode where each player picks 3 characters to play that round, where they cycle through them on death. basically forcing players to get good at more than 1 character.
Videos like “this is what 1K hours on Blank look like” definitely contributed to encouraging one tricking. One tricking for a hero game is just not a positive to have. Hero bans should be at all ranks just to make sure people develop a hero pool. Also, why would you not want free self regulated balancing at all ranks? It just makes sense.
Competitive does not unlock until you acc is level 10 (should be higher imo seeing how fast you level up early on). By then they have SOME experience of who players see are troublesome.
Bans would be pointless in bronze to gold. Arguable for plat. Since everybody starts in bronze no matter what, you have to assume they don't fully know how to play the game or the structure of a serious mode. They'll be eased into it by gold, but things being broken still affect you less when skill differences are bigger factors. I think it's fine the way it is.
As they release new OP heroes with similar low risk, low TTK as Hela or Hawkeye the bans will be less balancing as players just jump to the next OP hero who isn't banned.
As someone who plays a lot of league I don't see your character being banned as a bad thing. Learn 3 characters that you're good with so if someone picks or bans 2 you still have a 3rd.
The problem that this causes it toxic play for some players for example one tricks in higher ranks are getting their hero banned and then basically have a bad time and thats not okay if bans are to stay you see no one's name of player card what so ever till after the ban
Responding to adding bans to all ranks. Honestly, I don't think players need to be nudged in what to ban even if you are a new player. You have to play up to lvl 10 to get to competitive, so you'll play quite a bit. You'll figure out what you want to ban and what you don't. And when you get to higher ranks in the game, you'll find that some heroes are super op than others. Basically, you'll figure out what to ban through playing the game. Honestly, my biggest complaint right now is Smurf helas destroying my team while I am in gold 1 trying to get to plat LOL. She was plat 3 lvl 14 and had almost every game she played be a win with 50+ elims.
I think the reason there’s no hero bans in the lower ranks is because that gets rid of the good players faster. Some people are just bad you’re always gonna be bronze or whatever and that’s fine But if you let the really good players rank up very quickly, they will eventually stop being a problem so you don’t let people at lower ranks ban You just let them play the game mode that is essentially quick play but with a slightly different format and they are happy because eventually all the try hard are fighting each other
I 1 trick in every single game i play with heroes. if my main gets banned im dodging 100%. im prob not gonna push to diamond in this game because of that. def a good system tho its good that people can actually enjoy their matches with no hela hawkeye mantis and snow.
Where are all the "not enough heroes for Hero Bans to work" people from years ago? Marvel Rivals has 33 characters. Remember when Overwatch had 33 characters? The Hero Bans advocates have been right for years. I'm extremely hopeful the 2025 changes for OW Competitive will be a bans system for both maps AND heroes.
Bans are bad because when you boot up a game in your limited play time then you want to be able to play the hero you want, and many players will want the challenge of a serious mode like ranked rather than being forced into quickplay because their fave heroes got overbuffed one season.
I'll be honest, I think ban systems are trash. I don't play Hela or Hawkeye but I think the notion that someone's favourite hero can just be locked off should disqualify the idea out of the gate. Not only is it a video game, but the characters are the primary appeal. For balance, the priority should always be specific character balancing via patches. Even if you have bans IN ADDITION to patches, the community will just ban the next heroes they deem OP/annoying after every patch, so someone's favourite is always going to be locked off. The one saving grace is that it's only in Diamond and above. If it was everywhere, it would mean whichever hero the community targets each patch may as well not be in the game, which is a bizarre thing to want.
Hero bans should be across all ranks or not present, I prefer the former. Bans are in place to have direct feedback on the current balance and ability of heroes across ranks. In HotS heroes with AoE are the main bans in low ranks because players don't react to them while skillshots are the bans in high ranks because players can aim/time abilities better. Problem heroes in low ranks will be on the radar but wont be changed nearly as often or severly as those in high ranks, though ban rates play a large part in it.
I think it would be good at lower ranks so they understand as they climb they would get a taste of it, it would also shut down those smuff/bronze to top 500 account.
You can MISS your complaining about skill. It’s like banning the 3 point shot because curry won the mvp two years in a row. It’s lame that people just agree to ban skill a dexterity. Its the lamest thing ever.
very good points Personally I think hero bans should begin from gold Cause people are still very unfamiliar with heroes kits and overall game Sense to be able to ban decently when they are below gold
The people at lower ranks would probably ban characters like Jeff, moonknight and Iron Fist. Down there (where I am finally getting out of) aim is not that good. These same characters are irrelevant in higher ranks. So yeah definitely bring hero bans to lower ranks maybe plat or high gold.
Why don’t they just implement a system where you ban hero’s at the start of ALL ROUNDS for example at the start of a convoy game they ban Hawkeye and Hela then next round they ban other characters the characters they banned before are unbanned and you can’t ban them again for the rest of the game
What is the "bans discourages casual play" con? This is only in RANKED, the most obvious Non-Casual mode the game has. That's kinda the point of a competitive mode (serious, not casual).
I don’t mind hero bans but I would like if they could stretch it to plat. If they are gonna keep it. I had way more trouble in plat 1 & 2 compared to Diamond 2 & 3 mostly because of Hela players and sometimes good hawkeyes. I’m currently Diamond 1 and I’m glad I’m not seeing Hela players most of times since she’s almost always banned. Plat is where you start seeing a lot of difference between player skills
Having skills with multiple characters is crucial to this game so you can mix and match and WORK WITH YOUR TEAM. if you're a otp in high ranks, then that's your problem and will be a hindrance to your allies.
Bans need to start at Plat as plats are usually above average and they are forced to watch their team die to one character as plat is very volatile as in game sense and mechanics skill means alot more then in gold and most in plat have the aim but not the game sense
tbh i wouldn't mind hero bans starting at plat weeding some of the players that dont belong especially at the diamond border and my history with hero bans is from Rainbow 6 Siege and they have had them in ranked at all levels off play since Y4S2 in mid 2019 and and over the years because a lot less impactfull over the years with the release of more hero cos they never updated the base no. of ban of 2 bans per team 1 attacker 1 deffender
No low level bans. Why? Scarlet Witch and Iron Fist would never get played. They'd be banned at low level and destroyed at high level. I think it would be better if low level players just learned.
Stylosa if you see this, you can animation cancel your sword swings with your basic melee (The V button but i like it on F for magik.) This makes her far more effective st dealing damage. Cheers from a magik main :)
No it shouldn’t. I don’t even know how to give a counter argument because I can’t even concede anything. I just disagree on every detail. Agree to disagree type of issue I guess
Phara, low ranks can't aim well enough to counter her and she does high damage burst poke that makes her a terror. She can poke for half your life on 76 in the time you take to hit her for 34 dmg from weenie rifle shots. Widow banned all ranks.
I'm so sorry, I know you don't want to hear it, but it's driving me crazy. Please melee cancel. Please, it's free dmg. I know, I know, back seat playing and all, but PLEASE, PLEASE!
Starting bans at Gold would probably best. Bronze and silver you get to play everything and find what you like and dont like. Gold you learn to be more flexible.
100 Percent agree.
Now. _I see problems like the community having disagreements on what Role Queue actually is, or how it would actually function and therefore having different _*_interpretations_*_ on _*_the actual_*_ Role Queue format mode, and all that but.. that’s an entirely different subject so, I’ll save it for a separate comment to it._

agree with you Sty, but you missed something important in my opinion - not having hero bans in lower ranks indirectly encourages smurfing.

3:50 Saves are only in tournaments. There's no saves in normal comp, just the 2 bans on each side.

tbh id rather have actives devs that balance the game quickly and frequently rather than just deleting said character out of the meta with bans but i know thats asking for alot
I'd like the game to hide the enemy team until after the bans are made to prevent targeted bans entirely, but other then that just roll it out across all of ranked. If bronze players enjoy the game more with iron fist banned then let em do that.
No one tricks should learn other heroes. Don’t hold their hands. You get target banned take it as a sense of pride and learn another hero or two.
@h4xagon909 that's a fair point. The same could be said about lower rank tanks wanting to ban wolverine.
You make a fair point.😀
there should be auto ban or ban suggestion also as more heroes get added ban will be necessary just like league, dota smite and other moba games

But elo hell for us was plat 1 - diamond 3 because the ban system changed the whole game for us, Hawkeye and hela being banned changed the meta ( with Strange, snow, mantis being typical bans too), and we would lose a game , lose the ban system and go back to those hero’s dominating games but then rank up and so on

The Team Up mechanic offers a new way of playing hero shooters, and that can shake up the meta plenty with some heroes gaining really powerful new abilities, or simply becoming a lot more effective that base level._
_I feel there is a better way to achieve what banning aims for. Diminishing returns, forced switching of heroes team-wide and other methods feel better than telling someone "No. You can't play that hero." which only hurts one player realistically._
happy to see you starting to play magik i know its early but i hope we see the return of overanalyze
If it were available for every rank then the usual bans would just be rendered obsolete and no-one would main them
It's better to just nerf the OP heroes or buff their UP counters.
@ShadowbannedAccount yeah exactly what I was thinking but the devs said they don't want to nerf characters
1. quick play exists. 2. the bans are limited and not everyone is going to ban the same heroes.
@xIronwafflexx it will be hella and hawkaye almost every match
Typical ban list: "Iron Fist, Iron Man, Punisher and Spiderman" pfft XD
I agree with the bans only being in diamond
A big difference between the bans in Rivals and the hypothetical bans in OW: players know from the start that bans exist in Rivals. If you're a "one-trick" player and get to diamond, you know that your character can be banned and should already have backup characters you are familiar with and can play instead.
Plat should be where it starts because it’s where team comp starts to really matter as well as not making ppl hard throw in the higher ranks because they got one trick banned out of nowhere
_Doesn't that mess up the Team Ups?_
Yeah, at lower ranks, one tricks are everywhere, and "META" means nothing to them. They could be 2k 16D, it doesn't deter from blindly running in.
The way I'd do it is to make it so you have to be level 15 to play comp and have hero bans silver and up. By the time players reach these 2 milestones they should have at least 1 hero they'd want to see banned.

You can farm on any character in low ranks and climb as long as you’re good. 20:49 I think for bronze and silver they could just simplify the system to have fewer picks.
Banning characters at any level is wack

Great video 😊 would you consider doing an overanalyse of marvel rivals players? Used to love those vids you did back on overwatch
I feel like they should do each team gets one ban each from bronze until diamond, then from diamond to the one above all each team gets 2 bans.
@@insomniaddictesp Because people cant be trusted to self regulate, or not be trolls.

Not gonna lie, us in the lower ranks aren't smart enough to have ban system...it's all i can do to get them to play the objectives lolol
I agree let them stay there. They dont even have the mechanics to even be allowed.
Speak for yourself the shi gets old
As they release new OP heroes with similar low risk, low TTK as Hela or Hawkeye the bans will be less balancing as players just jump to the next OP hero who isn't banned.
Some people are just bad you’re always gonna be bronze or whatever and that’s fine
But if you let the really good players rank up very quickly, they will eventually stop being a problem so you don’t let people at lower ranks ban
You just let them play the game mode that is essentially quick play but with a slightly different format and they are happy because eventually all the try hard are fighting each other
I 1 trick in every single game i play with heroes. if my main gets banned im dodging 100%. im prob not gonna push to diamond in this game because of that. def a good system tho its good that people can actually enjoy their matches with no hela hawkeye mantis and snow.
Leave it to blizzard to refuse to do the bars minimum, until it's way too late.
Hela is Hella broken damage of sniper and bow pull back but not even having to do much other then click heads with hitscan poggers
You can MISS your complaining about skill. It’s like banning the 3 point shot because curry won the mvp two years in a row. It’s lame that people just agree to ban skill a dexterity. Its the lamest thing ever.
very good points
Personally I think hero bans should begin from gold
Cause people are still very unfamiliar with heroes kits and overall game Sense to be able to ban decently when they are below gold
I do not see why people even care a meta or balance in competitive play.
So just keep hela and hawkeye in quick play than? Thats what will happen if they do that.
Im glad it was Diamond although it would've been funny if the game journalists were banning Jeff, Witch or Iron Fist.
11:15 new players shouldn't play ranked. If you don't even know what every character does you shouldn't play ranked.
If a game needs hero bans, they’ve messed up.
OW would ban sombra and widow every single game, so why are they in the game?
Just remember, RANK DOESN'T MATTER!
whats the point in going into rank when the heroes i like are gonna get banned if i climb higher on them?
Having skills with multiple characters is crucial to this game so you can mix and match and WORK WITH YOUR TEAM. if you're a otp in high ranks, then that's your problem and will be a hindrance to your allies.
Bans need to start at Plat as plats are usually above average and they are forced to watch their team die to one character as plat is very volatile as in game sense and mechanics skill means alot more then in gold and most in plat have the aim but not the game sense
i think not in all rank is a good thing ,because that how the dev get the right data, what should nerfs and buff.
wow this might be a bad idea so far just a joke
Listening to modern gamers cry about every single thing reminds me of why the industry is low right loe
The plan is to become one of those players ppl see in the lobby and decide to ban Venom 😈
its not even 8% im in plat 2 and when i ranked up it said higher then 95%
tbh i wouldn't mind hero bans starting at plat weeding some of the players that dont belong especially at the diamond border and my history with hero bans is from Rainbow 6 Siege and they have had them in ranked at all levels off play since Y4S2 in mid 2019 and and over the years because a lot less impactfull over the years with the release of more hero cos they never updated the base no. of ban of 2 bans per team 1 attacker 1 deffender
I think it would be enough if plantinum gets the ban system
_I think people struggle with Team Ups as it is._
8%? I’m in diamond 3 and the game tells me I’m above 97.something players
I think at least it should be lowered to plat, bronze-gold being able to pick a ban is kinda useless i think.
Nah I need that shit it’s nothing but morons down here lol
Overwatch didn't implement hero bans because it ruins the fun
No low level bans. Why? Scarlet Witch and Iron Fist would never get played. They'd be banned at low level and destroyed at high level. I think it would be better if low level players just learned.
Stylosa if you see this, you can animation cancel your sword swings with your basic melee (The V button but i like it on F for magik.) This makes her far more effective st dealing damage. Cheers from a magik main :)
I put it on the mouse. But it's a very good tip and I am wondering why I didn't think to tell him, lol.
No it shouldn’t. I don’t even know how to give a counter argument because I can’t even concede anything. I just disagree on every detail. Agree to disagree type of issue I guess
One tricks are terrible. No game sense. No idea what the other hero’s do.
“Oh sorry I can’t switch. I only play iron man”
Would love it in Overwatch. Ban the really annoying and unskilled heroes that blight lower ranks like Sombra and Mauga.
Phara, low ranks can't aim well enough to counter her and she does high damage burst poke that makes her a terror. She can poke for half your life on 76 in the time you take to hit her for 34 dmg from weenie rifle shots. Widow banned all ranks.
Then the mercy mains will bitch and moan about not able to play as her if bans were implemented
I'm so sorry, I know you don't want to hear it, but it's driving me crazy. Please melee cancel. Please, it's free dmg. I know, I know, back seat playing and all, but PLEASE, PLEASE!
1 tricking is the best way to learn a game or hero so no, bans in lower tiers are stupid
