My game gets chunked by Stranger Portals now for some reason after the last patch. Which is funny cause I’m nicknaming it my spider sense
A programmer could explain this better. But it has something to do with delta times being tied to users FPS. Apparently this is a relatively easy fix that shouldn't take a ton of time. It was explained to me as more of a coding error than anything else.
you hit this on the nose. Delta time makes sure that movements in game are time dependent and not frame dependent based on someones device
yeah as an unreal dev this is something students do when they do uni projects because they don't know the best practices and is often just trying to make things "work" rather than make it "work well" (optimized). Surely the devs should be aware of this? I hope it was just a really bad oversight which happens sometimes.
Accidentally tieing deltas to fps instead of server clock or game clock is certainly a very common oopsies but im surprised this shipped to live with this mistake in place. Very small easy erro on a progammers part BUT major impact for end users. Good thing the honeymoon is as strong as it is or rivals would've flopped dead. Hopefully it's fixed in time for s1

I can barely do any of the movement techs in the game because i play on console. And i think it's max fps is capped at 60, even tho, both xbsx and ps5 can run games in 120 fps.

This is actually an opposite problem we experience in Destiny 2. Super high FPS actually makes the enemies do MORE damage than at, say, 60 FPS. Been an ongoing issues since the PC version came out in late 2017

@@tarrikgrigsby8452 In Marvel Rivals, you are at an advantage if you're at a high FPS (outside of the visual advantages). In Destiny 2, you are at a HUGE disadvantage if you go above 30 - 60 FPS. A lot of enemies will straight up just one shot you *cough cough* Scorn *cough cough*. I personally had to hard cap my frames to 30 for like 1.5 years cause I got tired of it

wait u play at 15 fps?? bro i play my game at 60-120 and have never even properly gotten into a game in Rivals cuz it doesn't load me in (and it performs even worse at lower fps somehow) so most of my time is spent in practice
This bug explained a lot because I was not having a good time on Wolverine or using any wall climb ability, and Strange's flight felt very slow and I thought that surely there was some kind of tech I didn't know, but it turns out it's just that I don't have the spare funds to invest into good hardware so my 25-30 FPS is screwing me over with movement and sometimes damage. It's genuinely caused me some grief but I'm glad it's not that I suck at the game and instead I just suck at having spending power.
As someone that mostly plays Magik, I'm glad that on my best hero I don't suffer the damage struggle that Wolverine and others might be facing, but the hit detection on her dash is still notable because it's somewhere between 0.5-1m of a difference which can be make or break when engaging on a backline to get a pick.
Sidenote: Load times and FPS shouldn't be compared, I have better load times than some of my friends that can actually break 60 FPS while I can't. man, anything above 60 feels privileged to me because I've played sub 60 pretty much my whole life apart from consoles.

As a fellow budget PC owner, I feel your pain. I could barely manage to get it above 30 fps and the number was like orange at best, the game was still fun but it feels bad sometimes especially when you get stutters in the middle of a fight.
I managed to actually get it to be 100+ fps most of the time now with a couple adjustments; First I lowered the resolution down to 1280x720 (obviously all settings at lowest) that got me above 60 fps which made a huge difference, then I went and downloaded the increase fps mod from nexusmods which I guess just basically gets rid of the shadows in the game that got me above 100. Hey, game doesn't look as good but it plays waaay better.
Xbox and Ps5 issues being 60fps standards at 1440, (their 4k options arnt real 4k, but 1440 upscaled with software which isnt real)
The issue here is if youre using 1080p, 120fps, (you dont benefit from the extra FPS for your dps/movement abilities.)
You dont ge that extra movement hntil youre 1440p(true) which for xbox and ps5 are locked to 60fps, (upscaling isnt true resolution, or anywhere as good quality as the real thing) so essentially xbox and ps5 take advantage that you dont understand as an average user what upscaling is, and essentially lie. Youve bought a 60fps locked machine for 1440p/2k resolution. Which is DOGSHIT in todays market.
My old pc rjns 1440p 144fps and its ancient. Where as xbox/ps5 modern (except for ps5 pro) is ,locked so youre fucked since it can't handle true native 2k. And box systems rely on upscaling to pretend.

when i get on a losing streak it doesn't become "man what a great game to come back on" it becomes "i need to waste time finishing a bot game before i can get to the next real game"

In Rivals, career profiles are public by default, like in early OW. If someone restrict their profile, it actually appears on it own page, but still very rare, only streamers tend to hide their profile.
Now, if you check you History and open a game, you can check "View Career" for each players, bots will not open on a new page, just a quick message above is shown which tells you it's restricted, and we know if it was a real player it would still open on a new page.
The format is always 4 real players + 2 bots versus 6 bots. Allied bots fill missing "roles" and enemy bots are always 2-2-2.
The bot lobbies work for Fortnite because there's 100 players in the lobby and you [EDIT: Interact here means talking to players, say, in chat, not interact with them as in see them and shoot them] interact with 3 of them at most, but in Rivals, where you may want to have a community like experience, with chat amongst 11 others, you would want to have real humans, especially with match chat.
I always see at least 10 fortnite bots per game. They always have a specific spot they like to group up at each season
I interact with atleast 15 of the bots I don’t now how you interact with 3 unless you’re camping

I had to start exclusively playing ranked cause I would fight more bots than ppl. Only for them to introduce bots into ranked.
nah i literally get like 50 bots some games, and granted im not a bad player. been playing since 2018 too. in every match the only real player i face tends to be the last one

the worst part about the bots is that if they are in the game then why am i backfilling into a losing match with 4 seconds left. it has happened so many times and its the most annoygin thing. just replace disconects with bots
Bot matches are for players to feel better, it's 4 players fighting bots.
Replacing a disconnected teammate with a bot is going to negatively impact 5-11 (12 if the disconnect wants to reconnect, as the game does not allow reconnect if someone is in that slot) people. The losing team won't want a bot on their team and will be upset they got one, especially if it's early in the match. Putting one person on a losing team is going to negatively impact 1 person at most.

End up spending more time in the lobby and loading screen than I do in game.
it feels so awful backfilling into a game where the enemy team is basically spawn farming the team you just joined and not only do you lose but it counts towards your match history for some reason

The bot matches are crazy. If you're defending against bot team on a payload map, you will roflstomp them at spawn and as soon as it goes into overtime, they lock the fuck in and swarm the point, and once it makes it they immediately start throwing again.
I’ve seen the bots in QP. The dead give away is they do this weird walk towards you while facing away thing. Like they will push chokes…backwards. It’s weird
I’m thinking it’s supposed to mimic players checking on their teammates? I know when I play support I’ll sometimes walk backwards checking on my slower teammates
Jeff bots never throw people off the edge, so if you have a Jeff and they do that, you know it's a bot.
this might not SEEM like a lot, but think generally in a vacuum, a 120 fps wolverine will ALWAYS WITHOUT FAIL beat a 60 fps wolverine if both are on equal terms.
a 120 fps star lords ult will ALWAYS win against a 60 fps starlord when fired at the same time.
its not about how MUCH it influences, the fact that it influences ANYTHING AT ALL is a problem in of itself.
i get WHY theres bots, nobody likes losing streaks and a free win is always nice...but like...they don't NEED bots, they have more then enough people, though i guess theres a possibility rivals doesn't HAVE sbmm in qp, which means games will NEVER truely be even, and theres no guarentee you will get 50/50 win/loss records if your not at least middle of the playerbase in skill. in that sense, its dumb, but understandable.
PSA! There has been a clip going around of Cap “tech” where if you hold sprint you attack faster. This DOES NOT WORK unless you are specifically in the practice range and have ability cooldowns turned off. This attack speed is also affected by fps.
HOWEVER the first two non shield throw melee attacks are SLIGHTLY faster. Again basically non existent at lower fps but it is useful for (again very slightly) increasing burst damage since you need literally every advantage you can get on Cap
I knew there had to be a bot game. Got rolled twice in a row then get the symbiote map on defense and went 48-0 on Hawkeye and the enemies just walked forward and died

Making sure fps arent tied to game mechanics is one of the first things you tick off as you make the code, recently there was a huge case of this when the Risk of Rain 2 dlc came out, and before the first patch there were a lot of big mechanics tied to it, so much crazier than this, and this is already big

Set your fps to whatever it’s stabilized at it doesn’t change the detection it just changes the distance traveled. So just gotta practice your ranges at those fps

Her ideal range of E is 16 meters (which you can achieve on 60+ fps I think) I was consistently able to achieve that with 100+ fps. When you are on 30 fps her range reduces to 14m. I recommend you to just not use E from high distance and go ahead before using it atleast until they fix this.

Idk how more people didn't realize there are bot quickplay lobbies. I was suspicious after my literal first time watching "real people" do the single-file death march to the objective in the last 30 seconds and not use abilities for movement. It's really not hard to spot. A lot of people were borderline aggresively adamant the game didn't have them, too. As if it's some unheard-of concept to throw bots in quickplay matches on occasion
Not to be an ass, but you seem to have to lose two qp in a row just for a chance to see bots. I don't really get on loss streaks in qp unless I am playing with friends who are new to the game or having network issues. In either case, there are other issues that take priority over noticing bots in the game.
It could also just be pride. Sometimes people want to feel like their win was real and not hand fed to them. You tell them their wins are actually bot games and it may hurt.
They are not bots. In a conquest map, that just happens pretty normally, esp in lower ranked lobbies. People just wanna touch the point and not everyone knows how to play their heroes, that's why they are in qp. Besides, I also get solo tossed into enough half finished games as the last fill to doubt the bot explanation they are claiming here.
I think you may be underestimating how many low rank people actually DO single file death march though.
The only redeeming thing I can say about them is Jeff can heal his team pretty easily.

@@leotheliongames I mean, risk of rain 2 had almost every mechanic in the game tied to delta time when the dlc came out. In Rivals it's some slight disparities between movement and damage. Risk of Rain 2 Stinkers of the Shitstorm was fundamentally unplayable without mods to try and mitigate the damage. Delta time would screw you over whether you had high or low fps. most natural was 60 and even then the game was cooked. And most people were already skeptical of gearbox' success with the IP since they have a record for ruining games, so when shit really hit the fan people were naturally furious.

I did my own test of the bots thing last night.
Lost three matches in QP as an excuse to play new heroes lol.
Enemy team had 5/6 players I could not find profiles of. The one person I could find in Friends search had the same name as the bot but the real person hadn’t played since Dec 14. Two of my teammates had profiles hidden so I assume they were bots too. The thing is not only do they fill supports or tanks, they choose team ups too. Had someone select Strange so I went Ironman, the bot went Hulk.
Only need 2 losses in a row its pretty consistent unless they changed it
The end result of game design centered around player retention so they buy more cosmetics, literally rigged matches for the sole purpose of making people feel good.
Come to OW2, where they will let you lose all day and experience trash talk both verbal and written.

As a longtime Flats enjoyer, I'm glad to see our content highlighting and explaining community issues getting reach and was pleasantly surprised to see him make a video using our stuff. Genuine issues with the game aside, Marvel Rivals has done a lot to make my job more fun. Covering this game is a great time.

@@naizy To what end? I think everyone is aware of the overt authoritarianism of China. Dexerto aren't reining in the CCP with an article. NetEase is a Chinese-owned company and to keep the game available in China they employ censorship. Free Taiwan is also not the same as Free Hong Kong, because Taiwan for the most part is moderate and content with its equilibrium.

me and my friends noticed the bots immediately, because we aren't exactly pro gamers but certain matches had us keeping the enemy team in spawn as the ai was really, really bad, and predictable and felt more like practiced dummies' walking back and forth, and it was almost always after a 2 or 3 loss streak.

If you have 20fps in this game even on low settings then you don’t even meet the minimum req for the game to begin with. The high ping also means you have generally bad internet. Even without this bug you were always going to be disadvantaged.

I can confirm there are AI bots in QP games. For context, im on PS5 and had console only checked. I played for a few hours the other day and at some point lost a few games in a row. The following game I noticed something odd. I died in the most insane way. This player tracked me all the way through a wall, locked on to me, and kileld me, and then continued to lock onto all my teammates. I thought the guy was ximming his a$$ off, so I was furiously in chat during the match. I watched the replay after the game, and noticed the ENTIRE enemy team was locking onto me and my teammates through walls. I quickly realized okay this isnt just ximming this would legit be rage hacking. So they have to be bots. What do ya know, I looked into it and there were hundreds of other people om reddit threads etc all saying theyve come across this as well and that there are AI bots. Not sure what triggers them to statt filling lobbies but this turns me off the game REALLY badly, and what also turned me off of Fortnite years ago when they had bots in game. I dont want to face bots to give myself false feelings of performing well to keep playing after a few bad games. That is not how you improve at the game. I want to always be facing real players. They need to do away with this immediately and game devs need to stop protecting bad players for the sake of coddling their feelings for player retention, at the expense of other players. I dont want this sh** in my games.

While I agree that bot lobbies for player retention is bad, I don't think bots themselves are the issue.
Coming as someone who played Gears of War games, they had AI opponents in part for offline play, but they also filled out online lobbies. When a player left or the game had trouble finding a quick lobby, they just filled slots with bots. Now unless you were playing in the middle of the night, the bots would get replaced by real people as people joined the game (after the bot died). Granted in gears they were also named obviously as bots.

My only issue with the bot lobby thing is that the game doesn't seem to differentiate those games in your quickplay career stats - I wonder what % of players have set their killstreak record vs bots, for example.
I have a 42 ko streak and it had to be from a bot lobby. They just walked out of spawn room 1 by 1

I have a pretty decent computer that's never really given me issues with games since I put it together, but for some reason this is the only game that WRECKS it. Sometimes I'll have a decent match and then the lag in the next one makes it unplayable. I'm sure it's partly cause I need a better GPU, but I also think the way this game was put together is super unfriendly to anyone that doesn't have a high end system.
When i do storms ult, I wont even get the circle right away, storm will move in the direction i would move the circle and turn into the circle a second before doing the ult. I basically have to treat it like a witch ult. Jeff isnt the same, but i noticed my time to place my circle on him is also much shorter than streamers i watched. Its messed up how badly optimized this game is but no one was talking about it because most streamers have crazy pcs. Also, paladins is a lot like marvel rivals (including hero bans), and i think their downfall was using bots to fill lobbies. I hope rivals will stay away from that strat.
If you thought paladins downfall was bot lobbied I don’t know what to tell you man. That game was NOT attractive to most people. If struggled to ever find any interest or attention. Bot lobbies had nothing to do with it. Most people wouldn’t even know it had it at all either. Because they didn’t play to begin with. That game just wasn’t that good.

First off the FPS fix is quitew easy for the rivals team. Second off like said in the video fortnite has bots so it's not even a bad thing, it's literally for people with skill issues like you. @ you don’t have to pay for marvel rival skins. In marvel rivals there are two currencies, lattice and units (I believe) lattice is what you can buy, units you get for free (like crafting materials). But every single skin can be bought with units and not lattice. And in overwatch you don’t see your skin at all, in marvel rivals you see it every single game. Being a blizzard defender in 2025 after WoW, After COD, and then after OW2 is crazy.

Internet might be another issue, however I found out that installing the game in a HDD causes the game to load way slower, I now have the gane installed on my SSD and the loading times got 10 timez better (i was unable to see the character select screen previously because of how bad it was
@ that’s a great point. I hadn’t considered that. I don’t personally have a HDD but I have seen many posts stating the same as you, installing the game on the HDD has a considerable impact on loading

@frankonaig7278 you would be surprised knowing how many people don’t know about that, either way, there are games that doesnt affect loading times that much and others (like MR) make the game almost unplayable with invisible characters and random FPS spikes. Some of us only have 500gb on an SSD so we have to pick and choose
From what little programming experience I have video games are usually developed with certain actions tied to frame rate. Older games are great example of this were things such as physics are tied in to frame rate, so as frame rate increases the physics break. Typically, software developers are supposed to account for this as it is a decades old problem that we have solved, but due to crunch or laziness it commonly gets glossed over.
Fighting games are mostly still done this way since all their moves are tied to frames
The one im sure of is that guilty gear is still capped at 60 fps is cause 60 is what all the characters attacks are balanced/designed around
@jeph7434 that is all fighting games. The entire premise behind hie fighting games function it a 60 fps game. Some allow upscaling if they programmed for it and some don't
Netease has another game (Naraka) with the same issue, and I don't think they have fixed that yet. I guess they never saw this as an important problem. I know that DeltaTime is one way to potentially fix the problem, but I don't know how complex the code is and if they are willing to go through the entire code to replace all the events.
@@kito1121 if the game is built from the ground up with DeltaTime in mind it's fine. It's like one of the first thing game developers learn is to never pin game logic to frame rate.
I personally enjoy the bots as a casual because after losing a lot while trying to to play certain characters or challenges going against bots makes it doable. There's characters I wanna play and do well with and then the games asks me to play characters I don't do well with.
There already is a more for playing against ai tho
Just have a "VS AI" mode. No need for this in qp
Glad to see some (rightful) criticism for this game. I don’t want it to fail in the slightest but I’ve been calling out the bad since day 1 and people get PISSED. I think there’s a very strong double standard between rivals and ow which is understandable because of how fed up the ow community is, but if people genuinely want rivals to succeed problems need to be vocalized, not just shrugged off
I also challenged they didnt get 20 million downloads. Crazy how a free to play game supposedly has 20 million downloads but didn't break any player count records for playing, right?
I'll rather lose and be trash but get better eventually than having a fake victory hanging over my head, no sir.
As for the FPS problems, I'm on PS5 so not much I can do but hope they can fix things so we all can have a better experience.

I mean, no game is perfect, there's absolutely things that need addressing in every game. MR is doing a LOT right though, and if you feel some of these things are enough to "come for this game", you're going to be disappointed.

That's Bethesda levels of spaghetti code. In the creation engine world speed is often tied to your FPS which is why most Bethesda games lock you to either 30 or 60.
I'm guessing that this is something like that, but I don't know if they can get away with the Bethesda fix which is to just force you to play it at 30fps
All of the old souls games also tie gameplay mechanics like character speed and jump height/distance to fps. Dark souls 1 is notorious for this

This game competitively is a bit of a joke. This is like game dev 101, knowing not to tie player movement and the physics engine to fps in a competitive multiplayer title. Say what you want about Blizzard but shit like this would never fly. The overwatch engine is at least loads better, both in optimization and physics.
It’s not a surprise that a game that is loved by the player base would get more room for error by the players. I mean they already have 7 or more characters on the way while their counterpart has been dragged through the mud for a good while now. I mean can the player base really complain when this is such a minor issue, attached to specific characters.

My game always takes about 30 seconds after the match has started to fully load in. The itself lags a lot and can occasionally freeze for about a minute, usually causing my team the game; it's especially frustrating in comp. I don't particularly have a terrible pc, this doesn't happen to any other game, so I pray its a game optimization issue and will be fixed around the upcoming patches. It's unbelieveably frustrating to always lose first point on defense, or have the team already lost a fight before I load into the match. Thankfully I'm a good player and we can usually come back from these. It's also a blessing that comp waits for everyone to load in before starting the match.

im on an alienware laptop that's only a couple years old. i can get 200-300 fps in valorant just fine (though i intentionally cap it at 120) but cant even consistently hit 60 in MR. it's insane

The bot lobbies are def true. I did my own testing of looking in my history and looking at the matches after i lose 2 or 3 times in a row, which i quickly figured out that all the other team has their account information restricted, one time would be coincidence however i have checked this many times and what are the chances that the whole enemy team goes into their settings to hide their profile, these are all games where i won by a landslide as well. It just doesn't feel good to win against bots and just feels insulting.
I will say that i dont think all bots are level 1 either since most i found were higher.

Almost the same exact thing happened in destiny with the Colossus enemy. The higher frames the player had, the more damage they took from the Colossus attack all the way up to getting one shot
Can someone test this with magiks portals. I feel like I see other magiks instantly go through their portals but I’ve had so many instances where I literally have a second before I go through a portal and I’ve gotten stunned and pulled out of my portals when I’m supposed to be invincible for a small duration
I have not tested it, but have experienced what you have. It's an ability, so it may also be effected.
The Magik bug has actually happened to me so many times in game, I thought I was going crazy.
They have practice vs ai so no need for bots in quickplay. If they want to entertain casuals then make a pve mode with all the lore at their disposal. Beating bots doesn’t feel better than humans.
Also, it is easy to see who is a bot. Their profiles will be resteicted. Every single profile on the enemy team.
This is something I noticed. When I was playing when I first installed the game. I had some settings messed up and I was running tops 45 fps. Then when I switched I noticed a very obvious jump in animation speed when I fixed my settings and started getting 70-80.
I mean in general? This games number 1 flaw is that it runs like ass.
Theres really no excuse, its not a case of "well, 2024 game vs 2016 game", or "buy a PC".
This is not a technical showcase game, its a MP game. Half the reason it has a strong artstyle, should be BECAUSE it helps the game to run well.
People intentionally put their settings on low, use DLSS, and still the game flops around with its framerate.

I love how many people are preoccupied with bots that don’t affect their gameplay (only their pride) and not the actual, hardcoded unoptimization happening in game that affects actual real human players.
I've had like three to five projectile shots no reg on a tank standing five feet from me during FPS drops. It's rare for it to be that bad and it seldom happens on hitscans (which should be more likely to miss at super-close range) but it legitimately does happen, and it feels so brutal. I can't imagine how awful this game must be if your FPS is consistently super low. Mine is not even that bad, but it's still enough for me to avoid mobility-based heroes and primarily stick to hitscans. The funny thing is in OW I have better projectile aim and like a thousand hours on projectile-based heroes. I rarely play hitscans there because my aim with them is super inconsistent in comparison to projectile aim especially at close range, but in this game it's the exact opposite, and I swear it's because projectiles just love to no reg in this game.
Being put into a completely unfun game that's a waste of time that's trying to psychologically manipulate me into the illusion that I'm better than I am certainly affects my gameplay experience. And it's something being done intentionally and being intentionally hidden by the devs.
The FPS thing is an unintentional bug that they'll work on. No big deal. If it's still that way 6 months from now, I'll be less happy.
Edit: It's even worse. I'm actively getting mad at teammates probably just screwing around because now their performance is a major reason I'll be stuck for 10 mins in a bot game. It's worse than ranked. I don't care about my rank. I do care about being stuck in a bot match going 30-1 again before a real game.
@ZeroRed78 but it’s really not that deep, you’re tying your enjoyment of the game to how well you perceive yourself at it. If playing the game irregardless of the mechanic isn’t satisfying you should probably play something else that makes you happy. This is your pride, your ego, and your centrism affecting how you perceive games.
Rivals didn’t make that happen, it just highlighted it. You’re going to carry that with any game you play until you divorce yourself from it.
This is the demiurge my dude. The cell is open and you’re free to walk away any time. If this mechanic doesn’t make you happy or makes you mad at other people, this isn’t for you.
Also reflect on why you’re getting mad at other people in the first place. The bot issue bothers YOU the person, not the team at large. But if you’re coming into the round tilted already, you’re going to perform less well to begin with. That makes your teammates not want to try either. It’s not their fault how YOU feel.
Your mental is getting played with by this discovery. If that’s what’s happening it’s time to reevaluate whether you want to spend your limited, valuable time on a game like this.

@@ZeroRed78 This shouldn't be all that different to any game that has an MMR system that is trying to keep you at a 50% win rate. If you lose more than you win it feeds you easier matches until things balance out. If you win more than you lose it does the opposite. Playing against bottom of the barrel humans can honestly be easier than bots because they not only have weak movement, and bad aim but the worst human players also make gigantic mental errors. They stagger themselves and refuse to reset, try to ult one vs. six, or ult to chase kills when a team fight is already won, they refuse to swap, or ego-swap, throw away the value of early picks by overextending and feeding, go AFK in spawn to rage at teammates, outright rage-quit, etc.
I promise you there are human players in both this game, and overwatch, who are just as impossible to lose to as bots. Even more so in this game because it damn near lets you lose in spawn when you get an entire team of duellists who don't even realise they have no supports until three team fights in for example.

Regarding the BOTS, I will have to test this myself. I always practice VS. BOTS on Hard Difficulty every log in to warm up. Im very familiar with how BOTS behave in this game... and they aint completely dumb. Bots will push, flank, they dont spam ULTS, ect. They even spawn trap if the majority of your team gets wiped, and fall back to objectives. The AI Bots have an aim assist a medium to long-range and bots legit lock on to you at close range to them(how I know this is from a BOT Punisher on a turret. Its impossible to jump and/or dash around him to flank him. The bot tracks you perfectly). So I will be on the look out for these things from now on in QP lobbies.
About the FPS? The way it effects damage and heals will be a deciding factor in teams from now on(even if you cant do anything to change it). Toxicity in this game will no doubt get worse because of this discovery.
From my experience, what people are saying about the behavior of bots in QP line up with the activity of Easy AI match bots (specifically, beelining to a control point if your team is at 99%).
You’ll see usernames like MirandaCho and you can go invisible with loki and go up behind them and the second you become visible they will 180 degree lock on to you
As a developer myself, they might be tying a lot of movement or movement based abilities to every physics frame to stop people on low end PC's falling through platforms like bridges etc., detecting collisions and all that jazz. Think of it like an animation, everything has to happen in each frame. At higher frames, your character is able to do more within a second because you're getting 260 "frames" in that second, and each frame it's running code for damage, collisions, all of that. But low end PC's are only getting 30 frames, and are only producing 30 actions each second. So they're only getting 30 frames worth of movement, damage, all of it. It IS unreal engine 5, so they might not be using physics frames., but it might be an equivalent. Physics frames are also very heavy and might limit FPS even further as you as a player are forced to run physics calculations every frame (you don't need to run them for other players, just yourself).
a meter or two of distance doesn't seem like much difference, so long as you don't think of it as a whiffed ability vs an ability that lands. Most times it won't make a difference, but when it does, it really sucks. What happens when people 6 stack with high end pcs and purposefully chose character skins that have the most poly's and moving particle effects to try and debuff the enemy team... in some other games people abuse stuff like this to make people with low end rigs crash
in my experience some people like doing it with strange if you put his portal up around a team fight it lags I have a pretty good pc and it still drops my fps a bit so i imagine its much worse for low end systems. I have a few skins and I honestly use them cause I like the skins I don't want to make anyone crash.
I feel bad cause I am older now and don't have anyone to spend money on but me and my cat so I actually want even more of an upgrade to play mh wilds at higher fps if it runs as bad as the beta. That was the first game my system couldn't hold over 80fps in a game and I had dips down to 45.
I honestly don't want to crash anyone just use the skins I paid for and I don't disagree with more optimization and hope everyone with a low end system gets to a place in their life where everything is better including their gaming rig.

Its quite common in games to be coded around frames. Remember fire abilities dealing way too much dmg in Diablo with super high fps because it allowed faster damage ticks

My IRL friends and I are abusing the bot lobbies. Me and my duo are D2 and our friends are bronze/silver. If we get two losses in a row we get the bot lobbies and are doing the harder achievments to obtain during those bot lobbies. 😅
Their profiles are always "restricted" as opposed to "limited" when a human has hidden their profile. They always show up as Xbox players as well.
Ai gamemode counts for all progress, so I wouldn’t say abusing.
@@illitaret8780I play a few games of Practice VS AI everything I log in. My stats, achievements, proficiency have never been effected by these lobbies. The only thing that is effected is the Daily/Weekly Challenges(which is why I mainly play these bot lobbies).
@illitaret8780 I know vs ai mode doesn't count for Profeciency I already tested that. It does work for daily/weekly missions. I didn't think to try for achievements there though.

the strange bug is def the worst of these. at low fps you don't even move faster than running speed so using your shift to kite when you're low becomes impossible. you just hover over the enemy team so all you can do is hold shield while ur getting healed and you burn through your whole shield hp

This feels like in Resident Evil 2 Remake where the knife, a weapon that would break after a handful of uses, became the most powerful weapon in the game because one swipe would hit multiple times at framerates above 60.
rivals is objectively jank. which is fine but if you are used to games performing well and playing smoothly in OW and others this game wont ever be that.
people love to hate on ow but the game runs exceptionally well. honeymoon phase starting to wear down, itll be interesting to see where people land on this. if this kind of issue was in a lot of other games it would be a death sentence.

I wonder if this is an unreal engine problem because this EXACT same thing happened in Tarkov a few years back where the fire rate of your gun was tied to FPS. Made it miserable to have fights.

After doing a quick test, frame generation definitely affects this. If you are lower than 160 fps I'd recommend turning it on, it might sacrifice some input delay though so keep that in mind.
the loading time to determine low FPS players idk how accurate that would be, because for example OW, i get 400 fps at 1440p, and whenever its either my first game of the day or if i just open the application, my harddrive doesn't like to go fast, so loading OW can take up to 3 minutes, game load speed, sometimes i get in slower then console players lmao. (for anyone curious, i smacked my hard drive a while back and yeah its been a bit slower since, she still works fine though)

As someone who plays Identity V (the other game by netease), there are actually two types of bots in that game. There are stupid easy bots that appear when you're on a really bad loosing streak and slightly smarter bots that come up whenever in quick match. The second type appears so often that, as a casual player, I stopped playing as much because playing with and against bots is so unfun and will show up even if I'm on a winning streak. I called the second type 'slightly smarter' but sometimes it feels like the teammate bots are actually dumber because often times they'll just stand still and do NOTHING or rescue at half health when the bot is playing a character that CANNOT successfully do that. The hunter (opponent) bots feel actually a little smarter than the first type which would be fine if the bot teammates weren't absolutely horrible. The second type of bots didn't used to be here (only existing for more than a couple months) they're also more common in lower tiers which most casual players will be because ranked is horrible and most people don't want to play it. Though that is mostly because of other players toxicity, which has been getting worse. I'm just saying I'd rather wait a couple minutes and loose against real people than wait under a minute and win/tie with braindead bots because its NOT FUN.
Bots are super easy to identify from how fast they ready up, how they move, and the decisions they make in game. I would not be surprised if Rivals gets loads of bots and ruins the experience for casual players.
The moment i put the game into a ssd nvme the loading into matches and fps got significantly better. After that i didnt load into the game late anymore. DO NOT download the game into a hdd, significantly hinders your gameplay is all that will do.
Nvme is definitely where it's at nowadays. They're so good.

And its also true that this engine has bad optimization and also sometimes it really connect with FPS to some details (like movement ability in Marvel Rivals as we can see). Of course they could use another one when started making game but we got what we have and lets just wait.

this happened on Risk of Rain 2 after the second DLC, things like speed of bullets shot by you and hit can result into more ticks of dmg cause of fps.

You'd be surprised how many people are okay playing against bots. I remember listening to a dev QnA for a card battler game I've forgotten the name of (like Hearthstone or Shadowverse basically) and one thing that shocked me was just how many players they said just log on to play against bots; despite the game's PvP focus. I think something similar could be true for Marvel Rivals even if people don't necessarily know at the moment that they get bot lobbies.

@@theelusivememe1772if your tv/monitor support that topped off with needed a pretty good connection to even allow that. cause i was on a hotspot before and got the packet loss after death bs in rivals. upgraded internet and now that much is fixed. the graphics on this game is already higher compared to space marine 2 actually so the sheer amount of stuff happening can still tank the consoles fps and other stuff.
