Did you know that for all of Republican's scapegoating illegal immigrants for all the country's ills, illegal immigrants are actually significantly less likely to commit a crime than natural born Americans and legal immigrant? There is also more or less a consensus among economists that immigration, both legal and illegal, is a net positive for the American economy. When taken as a whole, illegal immigration has a much smaller impact on American society than Republicans would like to believe and that impact is generally more positive than negative. On another hand, immigrants, legal or not, tend to shift the demographic in a way that is bad for the Republican party. While illegal immigrants can't vote, they can have children that can, and their children generally don't vote Republican. May I suggest that perhaps this is the real reason why Republicans hate immigrants so much?
