It's very good that this video is showing how racism has been hurting the Mexican people, but it also hurts the whole country. The Baha'i Faith teaches that we are members of one family, and that racism of any kind must be eliminated. There is one God, and humanity must become united so peace can come about.
Thank you for watching and taking the time comment. This is a really good point you are making. I am really excited to diving deeper into this story. It is something I feel gets overlooked. Thank you for your support!
How long you been doing this? Have I been missing out, I've heard a lot about black and white history, and some on Mexican history but not like you have taught it and I'm interested. Keep up the good work I'll be looking out for you more often.
Thanks so much! So, this is actually a very weird topic and it is often avoided in history. "Americanization," was actually something they also tried with the Native Americans and they did it. Mexican schools were in theory the exact same practice, just not brought to light. Part of the reason is very social and involves the dividing line between Chicano and Mexicano. See, a lot of Chicanos didn't have to go to these schools UNLESS somebody felt like they were not "Americanized" enough. Some church schools also served as a sort of "Mexican School," as well. If you ever get the chance to listen to LBJ talk about his time as a teacher in the Mexican School over in Cotulla, I think you get a much better understanding of his social policies. We can always debate LBJ and Vietnam, but there is no doubt his time teaching down there in Cotulla had a serious impact on him as a man. This topic is far too complex for a simple 10 minute RUclips video and that is why I am taking the time to REALLY research it and present it in a way that shows it for what it is and not the White version/Chicano version/Mexican version. It speaks to something much deeper but I am not totally sure what that is yet.
Yeah… my friend’s mom said that the teachers would punish them my forced them to wash their mouth with soap when caught speaking Spanish. My brother in law said that they would get spank with a ruler and put in the corner.
That's pretty wild. I've head that a lot. Thank you for sharing. As I talk to more people about this upcoming video, I am learning that this is a story that seems to go completely unnoticed. It is really a crying shame. Thank you again for sharing and being part of this community. Feel free to always comment or share something. It is always welcome.
i love you ending that school should never be used to control. but this time in the country. President Musk and VP trump are looking to change that and for children to pray for them..
Thank you!
It is my pleasure! Thank you for your support!
