Just watched a RUclips video yesterday about a guy stopped in Illinois by cop's and he was a Romanian scammer and the cop's told him to get out of town and don't ever come back the minivan he was driving was registered to a woman in Florida and there was FL DMV paperwork in the minivan different names fake Apple products they finally arrested him instead I think he could be linked to this
I would look into the previous owners of the house. Or employees at the DMV/Florida vehicle registration process servers. This reeks of massive inside job fraud.
Be careful about opening that mail. It's not yours so the feds might charge you with a felony if you open any of it. After all they don't want all the illegals getting caught.

I was going to write the same exact thing, hopefully she does not end up the victim of some kind of violent no-knock raid at 2am by law enforcement looking for some career felon they think lives there.
Here's the thing. If you go to the post office (into the actual building, not online) and say "these are the exact people living at this address" then show your drivers license, you can fill out a small form. That form will list EXACTLY who lives at the address. The optical readers at the post office will boot out any mail that doesn't have one of those names. for ex: lets say that the people living there are: John Paul Stevens and Lisa Samantha Johnson and those 2 names are the only names on that form that you fill out and physically give to the post office. Then that is the ONLY mail you will get at that address. if Jason T. Smith has a piece of mail sent there. The Optical readers at the post office will read that address on that envelope and auto return to sender that piece of mail. You the home owner will never see that piece of mail. The sender (let's say it was for a toll violation) will get the mail back and a yellow sticker will be on the front that says "addressee unknown" that yellow sticker is put on by the post office. They know that the address on record is wrong. It's up to them to figure out where the person actually lives. Now imagine if someone registers the vehicle with the dmv and the mail bounces back saying addressee known. Yeah that will be a fun time if that idiot ever gets pulled over with a fraudulent address on file with the dmv. I'm surprised her post office never recommended that option to her. I was getting mail for someone else at my new house. I went in to the post office and asked if there was anyway to fix it. They recommended filling out the form. Fun fact: if there is a major catastrophy in your area and the authorities need to go from door to door to find survivors. The list they use to figure out who lives in what home... comes form ??? yup you guessed it. from the post office. So the post office needs to know who lives where.
How disgusting is it that it takes a news story to start an investigation. Just a regular person complaining to these government departments will not get any help. This is our horrible government at work. Criminals win and good honest citizens pay the price.

It could have been worse. I had a felony fugitive warrant issued on me in Miami, Florida, for 2 felony hit and run accidents, fleeing, eluding, and avoiding capture. I have never been to Miami. Someone got a vehicle tag issued under my name and address. I almost went to jail and could have gone to prison for up to 10 years. Luckily, my time clock records and video evidence at my job verified my whereabouts at the time of the incident, and I couldn't have been in two places at once.

Because they are people who happen to have the same names as on some of the mail. They may or may not have anything to do with this mess. Even if it turns out that they are involved, it’s just speculation at this point. No one has been charged with a crime yet.
They should have seen the different names on these going to her mailbox every day , and Not put them in there. They have the name of the person who lives at the house. Seems like her mail carrier is extremely lazy. Greatful these were not in her name as it would have been an even bigger nightmare on her hands.

I had something similar happen to me in south Florida. Apparently a guy kept running SunPass tolls and the first 5 digits in his license were the same as mine. The last one was obscured so they just guessed at what it was and sent the bills to me. They even got a freeze put on my license renewal. The office responsible for this isn't even in Florida, it's in Georgia. The easiest proof it wasn't me (which they refused to listen to) was the vehicle in their images was a black pickup and mine was a green SUV! They had enough info from my registration to get my address but then ignored the vehicle description! It took a very long time with many phone calls to finally get to talk to someone in management at the Florida DMV to just look at the pics and registration to get it straightened out. Then it happened all over again 6 months later! Fortunately the woman who fixed it the first time was still there and fixed it right away. They decided to give me a new, different plate number to make sure it never happened again!
The SunPass people don't care whether they send honest bills, they only care about revenue and will harass anyone to get money. One of these days they'll go after a dead person, it will be all over the news, and it shall be followed by mass firings. Of course they'll go back to their lazy and uncaring ways the next day. Until more information is provided, we can't really be sure that the issue isn't some data processing error. To err is human, to err thousands of times in exactly the same way takes a computer. I'm not suggesting fraud isn't involved or that the people in possession of the plates involved aren't involved in a criminal enterprise, but it would make sense for criminals to avoid drawing attention to their activities as much as possible by spreading the mailings over many more addresses.
What is so amusing. That when you showed up on their door asking questions. A criminal investigation was launched and the letters seems to have stopped. You will never hear anything again.

Then illegals buy the id, and plates to put on their vehicles. With our borders wide open I am sure this is not the last time we will hear about a scam like this. Just read about Priscila Barbosa she literally stole hundreds of people's id's and created fake uber accounts with them. Then "rented" the accounts to illegals and made a fortune. You might think that with current technology the government could find any single address with more than 10 registered personal vehicles and deny any new applications with that address. Flag all the license plates as stolen vehicles and arrest the occupants for felony theft. That could put a stop to it.
they are using fake plates, selling them on ebay. And the drivers have no license or id's with them. They get caught and walk away with a court appearance ticket. Heck in NYC where I live you can see hundreds of cars with Texas plates, Missouri, Florida, the now famous paper plates, or the defaced/unpainted plates. Police grab them on the bridge, car gets impounded, they get arrested. Next day they have another car and keep doing it over and over (NY is a no bail state, so they are not held on county jail) Just collect their info and let them go
That was exactly my thought. Flag all vehicles registered to that address s stolen and wait. Sooner or later a license plate reader on a police car will go off and answers will come a flowin.
I remember a guy that got a personized license plate "NONE". He then got the parking tickets for every car in the state found with no license plate. Police would write "none" when there wasn't a plate and all the tickets went to the same address!
I knew a lady who had personalized plates with BON BON on them. She started receiving traffic tickets for a plate B0N B0N. She had to go fight the tickets. I don't know what was done about it.
Why can't they put a nation wide warrant on the vehicle(s) involved, arresting the driver and passengers, then impound the vehicle(s)? Seems to me that would solve the problem the instant they were pulled over.
She should be terrified the cops are gonna kick her door in at 3am looking to arrest someone who has done something bad thinking they live at that address and end up shooting her by mistake for defending her home in the middle of the night. It's happened before, hope it doesn't again.
They won't do anything about it. The person I bought my home from 5 years ago keeps registering her vehicle to my address and racking up tolls and the bills get sent here. We have made numerous complaints and always told that there is nothing anyone can do.
Hopefully you won't be dinged for non payment. The old owner will have a hard time in future. In my state if you have unpaid toll or tickets, you can't renew your tags.
I can pull up a random address on Google and use it on my driver license, car registration, change of address for USPS, etc. The mail would still have my name on it yet it would go to the random address I put down as my own.

@@byDsign it may be a warehouse or amazon-seller that is trying to artificially boost delivery numbers, or trying to get rid of unwanted / unsold stock. sometimes it really is cheaper / better for them to send something out instead of properly disposing of it. there are people all over the world getting hundreds and hundreds of packages with mostly useless trash, sometimes even using it as an opportunity to make a little bit of money from selling the items in bulk or piece by piece. you may as well take a look inside, if the hassle is worth it for you. but im not sure how legal that is, given that your name is not brittany.
I am guessing FL when you reg/plate a car they hand you a plate at the office. In Indiana they mail the actual plate to you via USPS. thus if it ain't your address you get no plate and lots of questions to answer.

From what I gathered with the story, I am guessing that these "criminals" who were blurred out may be victims as well by having their identity stolen. If they are still in jail/prison, how could they be comitting these crimes/violations (that is if they are still in prison)?
She better pull her credit reports STAT and put a consumer statement on ALL the reporting credit bureaus. I went through identity theft in 2012 due to clerk at my former dental office selling my name, dob, ss #, and for five bucks to an identity theft.she sold mine and hundreds of other patients data to this theif and it was a freaking nightmare.
@@texas4648 yes…that’s how I found out. It was a story in our local news…it mentioned the dental office where she worked and gave a number to call to find out if your patient data was compromised. They confirmed I was in her “notebook” they confiscated. I believe she got 10 years because of how many counts of fraud she committed.
No, this is a false address scam, a group is using her address as theirs so that all parking and traffic fines go to her. They probably didn't even know that the address was occupied.

How do you resister a car in another state from your home in the first place. I remember they were doing that for those exotic cars in Wyoming to avoid taxes, but it had to be a business owning the car.

You know, I had something similar happen to me with regard to an alleged toll violation in South Florida, by the Florida Turnpike Authority. Fortunately, it was only ONE (1) notice. The real problem was that the "camera" in the toll booth supposedly picked up a tag number registered to my vehicle. The problem was my vehicle was a Lincoln Town Car, and the vehicle pictured in the camera shot was quite evidently a pickup truck. I wrote multiple letters to the Turnpike Authority and tried multiple times to call the Turnpike Authority, but could NEVER reach a real live human being. Several months later, despite all my letters, I received nothing but an updated billing from the Turnpike Authority, with a statement that my vehicle tag would NOT be renewed. Since it was close to May 1, I took a little different track to clear this up. Now, at the time I got this notice from the Florida Turnpike Authority, neither I, nor my vehicle, had been in South Florida in more than ten (10) years. I pulled photos of a vehicle identical to mine from the Kelly Blue Book site and forwarded those photos, together with copies of all the correspondence I sent and billings I had received, together with a copy of the camera shot from the Turnpike Authority's toll booth. All of these items were sent with a cover letter to Governor Ron DeSantis. In less than a week after my letter to the Governor was dated, I received notice that the "toll violation" was closed. The main difference in my situation and the resident of Apopka who has been receiving all these citations is this: The Turnpike Authority sent the letter addressed to me at my address, but the vehicle depicted in the photo captured by the Toll Book camera was a pickup truck which had a tag number one digit different from mine. It's really daunting to be charged for something you haven't done. It wasn't the amount the Turnpike Authority was trying to collect, it was the principle of the thing. I was then and remain willing to submit a sworn affidavit to the effect that I had NOT nor had my vehicle been in South Florida for more than 10 years at the time I got this notice. I sympathize with this lady and I hope she can get this situation cleared up. Obviously, someone is committing criminal acts and using her address to try to palm their illegal acts off on an innocent person.

What argument? The problem here is the US allows 'ghost cars' registered to fake adresses or no adress at all. Traffic cameras especially red light cameras is something the US needs a couple million of. The roads are crazy.
And . . It may be the result of these same cameras that will find the criminals. The only people against license plate ID cameras are the same ones committing infractions. How nice it would be that if your car is stolen that they could find its location 10 minutes after it is reported.
They knock. A team breaking down your doors and 100 armed and kitted storm troopers flooding your home is a Hollywood thing. I've had US Marshall's at my home twice looking for people, they knocked, and when I wasn't home, they came back later.

I got tolls for LIMOUSINES! Nobody checked the plates to the description of my ford focus brown!!! It was thousands! I called and had to pay to send pics of my car and proof i wasnt at the toll during the time the guy ran the toll in the bay area California. I live 4.5hrs away from this toll and this guy was going through every few hrs! The one letter on the plate was an "I" and my plate was a "T!" The plate was blocked! Nobody even checked it! I had to fight it for 2yrs!
I had to do the same thing for my 86-year-old father. The state of Texas kept threatening to have him arrested for unpaid tolls but his antique car hadn't been driven outside his home town in Kansas for 50 years. It took me two years to clear up the matter. Every time I thought I had it settled the summons would start again. I had to take it clear to the Texas attorney general's office before they stopped. Apparently, their toll reader couldn't read the letters of the violation tag, which was a semi trick, and the fine issuing agency never considered that the same number sequence might be used alone as an antique tag number by another state.
Our apartments have a trash can right next to the mailboxes. I would have just tossed them. I have received mail addressed to someone else in the past and that's where it goes.

The USA is the only country with such a serious problem because as a whole there's very few measures put in place to prevent ID theft. Nothing stops you registering a car to the wrong address, in most of the world they have a check(they send you a letter with next day delivery, and you phone an automated line and confirm the code in the letter; if you don't get the letter it's clearly not a good mailing address), in the USA they just take your word for it. In most of the world stealing someone's identity needs multiple fake documents, in the USA people can open credit cards in newborn babies names because no ID or other checks are required(like a birth certificate/passport/drivers licence to confirm age). Making the sentence for being caught higher won't solve the problem when the problem is a fundamental failure of the system. The USA mostly doesn't care about ID theft;,it costs money, but mostly poor people's money rather than rich people's money; it backs up the legal system, but that's backed up by design anyway to force guilty pleas; and fixing it would hurt companies and banks(having to do all these extra checks to prevent fraud), much better for the people paying bribes to keep the system as is than fix it.
Why does it take a local news station to get involved to resolve the try and resolve these issues. Obviously any attempt for a regular person to get through government bureaucracy fails

In VA they investigated the DMV records because of this same issues. In one example an one bdrm apt had over 10 people registered at this address with a license. It's a lot of people in MD driving around with VA plates and not insured. MD is in the process of fixing tr hat problem now.

Why is the USPS delivering mail to her house for people that don’t live there? If I was law enforcement I would have these traffic cams flag the plate especially on highways with toll roads so the state police can arrest the offenders.
Our law enforcement agencies are woefully incompetent if they can't notice that there are a large number of names tacked onto a single address. Hundreds of people can't all be living at the same place!
The system should flag these, but I guess every state and city has it's own database and isn't linked to any of the others. So it takes a manual review to get things moving..

in Indiana when you register to get a plate, they do not just hand the plate over at the office they mail it to you. so you can't reg a plate/car at an address you can't get mail at. FL and many other states likely need to start doing this.

Email to verify your address. Click on the email link to verify. Once all three are verified your address all is ok. That should stop fictitious address filings dead in its tracks.

I tried reporting it to my local news media but never got a response. I did manage to get my ex pass and red light/speed camera tickets expunged, all 75+ of them, because I noticed my license plate was stolen and reported it to the police. I'd imagine if these thieves target dead peoples cars or abandoned cars and they don't report the incident at all, they can get away with that for along time. My parents bought their house in 1995, they still get bills , mail , collection notices from the previous owner. Had a repo man show up once to collect a car like last year. It’s been their address for 29 years but the previous owner still uses the address.

Suggest Florida Flag or CANCEL the vehicle registrations on all identified vehicles, and wait for them to surface across the country, via patrol car number plate recognition. Undertake a state wide computer search on the targeted address to identify all vehicles recent and current that have used or currently uses that address. 4:47 the solution is simple. Invalidate all those licenses and place a watch on this address. Anyone attempting to register a new car on this address without a deed should be arrested on the spot. (The one lawful resident knowing she needs a deed won’t have issue)
Here in the UK you can put a cross through your address on the letter and write 'Not known at this address' (if needed a rubber ink-stamp can be purchased). The letters are given back to Royal Mail who will (in turn) return them to the sender. However, in situations such as this it should still be reported to the Police as criminality appears to be involved.

The only way I got the mail from the state to stop was to call the state and explain to them the child support checks they were sending to x name does not live at this address. I'm sure the mom wants her money, but if she does, why didn't she fill out the change of address paperwork. I'm sure the dad doesn't want to be accused of not paying. I said that to the state employee I was talking to. It stopped after that phone call.
They used her address for multiple states and the report listed people traveling in numerous states like New Jersey. This is going to take awhile and won't be easy to track the people down once they find out the scam has been exposed. How do you instantly arrest people in multiple states traveling around?
She NEEDS to clear the address with the credit bureaus. All of these names are linked to her address with Equifax, Trans Union, etc.. Tell them that all of these people are fraud and need to be removed from her address. Otherwise, they will start building a credit history at her address and could start borrowing money against the address.

If criminals are testing out the water to see if they can pick up stolen goods at her house to see if she’s oblivious or not, to enough to notice a few extra envelopes in the future- why hundreds of letters a day, why not only a few? - if the crime is just simply spam mail and they’re trying to get her to send them money why not make the receivers names more like her own in the first place? At my old house in Winter Haven, I was getting like 10-15 clothing return packages per week, just dropped on my front porch. My address, different names every time. I had to make a weekly trip to USPS and UPS to return them. I got a package that had phone number on it for the sender, and I finally just called the number. Turns out a TikTok clothing seller was having all of their clothing returns routed to my house. IDK if they just chose my address at random, if it was a mistake, or some sort of scam. "We never received your return so we can't refund your money" kind of thing. After talking with management at UPS and USPS they finally stopped being delivered after about 2 months.
As an ex investigator who has dealt with them, I would suspect so called "Travelers", (also known as Gypsies) based on the names and method of operation.

Just watched a RUclips video yesterday about a guy stopped in Illinois by cop's and he was a Romanian scammer and the cop's told him to get out of town and don't ever come back the minivan he was driving was registered to a woman in Florida and there was FL DMV paperwork in the minivan different names fake Apple products they finally arrested him instead I think he could be linked to this

Here's the thing. If you go to the post office (into the actual building, not online) and say "these are the exact people living at this address" then show your drivers license, you can fill out a small form. That form will list EXACTLY who lives at the address. The optical readers at the post office will boot out any mail that doesn't have one of those names.
for ex: lets say that the people living there are:
John Paul Stevens
and
Lisa Samantha Johnson
and those 2 names are the only names on that form that you fill out and physically give to the post office. Then that is the ONLY mail you will get at that address.
if Jason T. Smith has a piece of mail sent there. The Optical readers at the post office will read that address on that envelope and auto return to sender that piece of mail. You the home owner will never see that piece of mail. The sender (let's say it was for a toll violation) will get the mail back and a yellow sticker will be on the front that says "addressee unknown" that yellow sticker is put on by the post office. They know that the address on record is wrong. It's up to them to figure out where the person actually lives.
Now imagine if someone registers the vehicle with the dmv and the mail bounces back saying addressee known. Yeah that will be a fun time if that idiot ever gets pulled over with a fraudulent address on file with the dmv.
I'm surprised her post office never recommended that option to her. I was getting mail for someone else at my new house. I went in to the post office and asked if there was anyway to fix it. They recommended filling out the form.

It could have been worse. I had a felony fugitive warrant issued on me in Miami, Florida, for 2 felony hit and run accidents, fleeing, eluding, and avoiding capture. I have never been to Miami. Someone got a vehicle tag issued under my name and address. I almost went to jail and could have gone to prison for up to 10 years. Luckily, my time clock records and video evidence at my job verified my whereabouts at the time of the incident, and I couldn't have been in two places at once.

I had something similar happen to me in south Florida. Apparently a guy kept running SunPass tolls and the first 5 digits in his license were the same as mine. The last one was obscured so they just guessed at what it was and sent the bills to me. They even got a freeze put on my license renewal. The office responsible for this isn't even in Florida, it's in Georgia. The easiest proof it wasn't me (which they refused to listen to) was the vehicle in their images was a black pickup and mine was a green SUV! They had enough info from my registration to get my address but then ignored the vehicle description!
It took a very long time with many phone calls to finally get to talk to someone in management at the Florida DMV to just look at the pics and registration to get it straightened out. Then it happened all over again 6 months later! Fortunately the woman who fixed it the first time was still there and fixed it right away. They decided to give me a new, different plate number to make sure it never happened again!
I've heard the company Georgia is using for their automated traffic tickets has been causing a lot of these issues.

Until more information is provided, we can't really be sure that the issue isn't some data processing error. To err is human, to err thousands of times in exactly the same way takes a computer. I'm not suggesting fraud isn't involved or that the people in possession of the plates involved aren't involved in a criminal enterprise, but it would make sense for criminals to avoid drawing attention to their activities as much as possible by spreading the mailings over many more addresses.

You might think that with current technology the government could find any single address with more than 10 registered personal vehicles and deny any new applications with that address. Flag all the license plates as stolen vehicles and arrest the occupants for felony theft. That could put a stop to it.
they are using fake plates, selling them on ebay. And the drivers have no license or id's with them. They get caught and walk away with a court appearance ticket. Heck in NYC where I live you can see hundreds of cars with Texas plates, Missouri, Florida, the now famous paper plates, or the defaced/unpainted plates. Police grab them on the bridge, car gets impounded, they get arrested. Next day they have another car and keep doing it over and over (NY is a no bail state, so they are not held on county jail) Just collect their info and let them go
The government doesn't care how many vehicles are registered at one address. All they care about is getting their money.

I remember a guy that got a personized license plate "NONE". He then got the parking tickets for every car in the state found with no license plate. Police would write "none" when there wasn't a plate and all the tickets went to the same address!
I knew a lady who had personalized plates with BON BON on them. She started receiving traffic tickets for a plate B0N B0N. She had to go fight the tickets. I don't know what was done about it.

I am guessing FL when you reg/plate a car they hand you a plate at the office. In Indiana they mail the actual plate to you via USPS. thus if it ain't your address you get no plate and lots of questions to answer.

From what I gathered with the story, I am guessing that these "criminals" who were blurred out may be victims as well by having their identity stolen. If they are still in jail/prison, how could they be comitting these crimes/violations (that is if they are still in prison)?

They confirmed I was in her “notebook” they confiscated. I believe she got 10 years because of how many counts of fraud she committed.

You know, I had something similar happen to me with regard to an alleged toll violation in South Florida, by the Florida Turnpike Authority. Fortunately, it was only ONE (1) notice. The real problem was that the "camera" in the toll booth supposedly picked up a tag number registered to my vehicle. The problem was my vehicle was a Lincoln Town Car, and the vehicle pictured in the camera shot was quite evidently a pickup truck. I wrote multiple letters to the Turnpike Authority and tried multiple times to call the Turnpike Authority, but could NEVER reach a real live human being. Several months later, despite all my letters, I received nothing but an updated billing from the Turnpike Authority, with a statement that my vehicle tag would NOT be renewed. Since it was close to May 1, I took a little different track to clear this up. Now, at the time I got this notice from the Florida Turnpike Authority, neither I, nor my vehicle, had been in South Florida in more than ten (10) years. I pulled photos of a vehicle identical to mine from the Kelly Blue Book site and forwarded those photos, together with copies of all the correspondence I sent and billings I had received, together with a copy of the camera shot from the Turnpike Authority's toll booth. All of these items were sent with a cover letter to Governor Ron DeSantis. In less than a week after my letter to the Governor was dated, I received notice that the "toll violation" was closed. The main difference in my situation and the resident of Apopka who has been receiving all these citations is this: The Turnpike Authority sent the letter addressed to me at my address, but the vehicle depicted in the photo captured by the Toll Book camera was a pickup truck which had a tag number one digit different from mine. It's really daunting to be charged for something you haven't done. It wasn't the amount the Turnpike Authority was trying to collect, it was the principle of the thing. I was then and remain willing to submit a sworn affidavit to the effect that I had NOT nor had my vehicle been in South Florida for more than 10 years at the time I got this notice. I sympathize with this lady and I hope she can get this situation cleared up. Obviously, someone is committing criminal acts and using her address to try to palm their illegal acts off on an innocent person.

What argument? The problem here is the US allows 'ghost cars' registered to fake adresses or no adress at all.
Traffic cameras especially red light cameras is something the US needs a couple million of. The roads are crazy.

It was thousands! I called and had to pay to send pics of my car and proof i wasnt at the toll during the time the guy ran the toll in the bay area California. I live 4.5hrs away from this toll and this guy was going through every few hrs!
The one letter on the plate was an "I" and my plate was a "T!" The plate was blocked! Nobody even checked it!
I had to fight it for 2yrs!

I had to do the same thing for my 86-year-old father. The state of Texas kept threatening to have him arrested for unpaid tolls but his antique car hadn't been driven outside his home town in Kansas for 50 years. It took me two years to clear up the matter. Every time I thought I had it settled the summons would start again. I had to take it clear to the Texas attorney general's office before they stopped. Apparently, their toll reader couldn't read the letters of the violation tag, which was a semi trick, and the fine issuing agency never considered that the same number sequence might be used alone as an antique tag number by another state.

Identity theft and fraud has become such an affliction that the consequences need to be greatly increased.
The USA is the only country with such a serious problem because as a whole there's very few measures put in place to prevent ID theft.
Nothing stops you registering a car to the wrong address, in most of the world they have a check(they send you a letter with next day delivery, and you phone an automated line and confirm the code in the letter; if you don't get the letter it's clearly not a good mailing address), in the USA they just take your word for it.
In most of the world stealing someone's identity needs multiple fake documents, in the USA people can open credit cards in newborn babies names because no ID or other checks are required(like a birth certificate/passport/drivers licence to confirm age).
Making the sentence for being caught higher won't solve the problem when the problem is a fundamental failure of the system. The USA mostly doesn't care about ID theft;,it costs money, but mostly poor people's money rather than rich people's money; it backs up the legal system, but that's backed up by design anyway to force guilty pleas; and fixing it would hurt companies and banks(having to do all these extra checks to prevent fraud), much better for the people paying bribes to keep the system as is than fix it.
Why does it take a local news station to get involved to resolve the try and resolve these issues. Obviously any attempt for a regular person to get through government bureaucracy fails

Nope someone at DMV getting paid to give people driving license and using the same address. The same thing happened in MD an employee gout caught. In VA they investigated the DMV records because of this same issues. In one example an one bdrm apt had over 10 people registered at this address with a license. It's a lot of people in MD driving around with VA plates and not insured. MD is in the process of fixing tr hat problem now.

Why is the USPS delivering mail to her house for people that don’t live there? If I was law enforcement I would have these traffic cams flag the plate especially on highways with toll roads so the state police can arrest the offenders.
Post office doesn't know who lives there. They go by address only.

Our law enforcement agencies are woefully incompetent if they can't notice that there are a large number of names tacked onto a single address. Hundreds of people can't all be living at the same place!

The Motor Vehicle departments in those States need to get their heads out of their backsides, flag that address and detain who ever is filling out the paperwork trying to use it. Is it that difficult?
in Indiana when you register to get a plate, they do not just hand the plate over at the office they mail it to you. so you can't reg a plate/car at an address you can't get mail at. FL and many other states likely need to start doing this.

I can stop that with one simple piece of legislation or perhaps a bureau of motor vehicle regulation.with 3 factor authentication. Moving forward the DMV needs to verify your address. We will mail a postcard to the address provided. Once you receive the postcard, log into the web address and s enter the serial number from the postcard to verify your address. 2 we will send you a text message that you need to click on to verify your address and 3rd we will send you an. Email to verify your address. Click on the email link to verify. Once all three are verified your address all is ok. That should stop fictitious address filings dead in its tracks.

I tried reporting it to my local news media but never got a response. I did manage to get my ex pass and red light/speed camera tickets expunged, all 75+ of them, because I noticed my license plate was stolen and reported it to the police. I'd imagine if these thieves target dead peoples cars or abandoned cars and they don't report the incident at all, they can get away with that for along time. Unless they're pulled over by the cops with wrong tags while they're out committing more crimes. or an act of God occurs and puts an end to good people being victimized for criminals to have "fun".
My parents bought their house in 1995, they still get bills , mail , collection notices from the previous owner.
Had a repo man show up once to collect a car like last year. It’s been their address for 29 years but the previous owner still uses the address.

Suggest Florida Flag or CANCEL the vehicle registrations on all identified vehicles, and wait for them to surface across the country, via patrol car number plate recognition. Undertake a state wide computer search on the targeted address to identify all vehicles recent and current that have used or currently uses that address. Declare all your new dependents in April, maybe the IRS will go find them.
Here in the UK you can put a cross through your address on the letter and write 'Not known at this address' (if needed a rubber ink-stamp can be purchased).
The letters are given back to Royal Mail who will (in turn) return them to the sender.
However, in situations such as this it should still be reported to the Police as criminality appears to be involved.
That is true, but I gave up doing that because nobody ever corrected it. You either get the exact same letter back, or the next months version of it. Straight in the bin now.

Problem then is slight misspelling or auto correction of your name and hey presto..... your legitimate mail disappears.

The only way I got the mail from the state to stop was to call the state and explain to them the child support checks they were sending to x name does not live at this address.
I'm sure the mom wants her money, but if she does, why didn't she fill out the change of address paperwork. I'm sure the dad doesn't want to be accused of not paying. I said that to the state employee I was talking to. It stopped after that phone call.

They used her address for multiple states and the report listed people traveling in numerous states like New Jersey. This is going to take awhile and won't be easy to track the people down once they find out the scam has been exposed. How do you instantly arrest people in multiple states traveling around?

It could be worse. Imagine if all those vehicles had clones of her license plate on them. That has happened to others.
She NEEDS to clear the address with the credit bureaus. All of these names are linked to her address with Equifax, Trans Union, etc.. Tell them that all of these people are fraud and need to be removed from her address. Otherwise, they will start building a credit history at her address and could start borrowing money against the address.
The sad part is they will also be voting using her address.
They won’t be able to vote, she is registered in her name and has to provide her ID. Registrar of Voters system cross checks that info thankfully.

@@KB-kp2oz clearly I need an answer about it otherwise I wouldn’t have asked. Some people have more knowledge in certain areas of life than others and while I do try to keep on my toes about crime, there’s still some factors that confuse me like:
- why thousands of letters instead of a discreet few? If criminals are testing out the water to see if they can pick up stolen goods at her house to see if she’s oblivious or not, to enough to notice a few extra envelopes in the future- why hundreds of letters a day, why not only a few?
- if the crime is just simply spam mail and they’re trying to get her to send them money why not make the receivers names more like her own in the first place? Also why do they send them from so many different states because that just seems like a giant red flag.
And I’ve only had one shot and it was so I could go see my dying grandmother before she passed….

@@futurefirm Probably the same reason my home state decided to try and fine me and take my license plate over a year after I bought my truck when the previous owner's insurance company reported they are no longer insuring my truck. Even though at purchase and renewal they ask for Insurance information that was completely different from what got reported by the previous owner.

At my old house in Winter Haven, I was getting like 10-15 clothing return packages per week, just dropped on my front porch. My address, different names every time. I had to make a weekly trip to USPS and UPS to return them. I got a package that had phone number on it for the sender, and I finally just called the number. Turns out a TikTok clothing seller was having all of their clothing returns routed to my house. IDK if they just chose my address at random, if it was a mistake, or some sort of scam. "We never received your return so we can't refund your money" kind of thing. After talking with management at UPS and USPS they finally stopped being delivered after about 2 months.
As an ex investigator who has dealt with them, I would suspect so called "Travelers", (also known as Gypsies) based on the names and method of operation.
My thoughts exactly. They figured out a scam and she's the unfortunate target that they're directing all their fines to.
