We will miss Matilda. "Poppy" is a lucky dog to be on your homestead, but she has big shoes to fill.
Have you ever considered a root cellar? My grandfather kept vegetables nearly all winter long in his. Nothing too complicated, literally a hole dug into the side of a hill.
