      @@AdventureJeff269 im currently overseas, but when I come back to my home country I might actually do that. But personally I wanted to switch to something lighter. Plus spare parts for the 990s are getting really expensive now... Test rode a lot of bikes but somehow nothing quite satisfied the itch if you get what I mean.
      I kept comparing all the bikes I rode to the 990 and nothing quite had the excitement and feeling of this machine.

    Really enjoying your vids again, perhaps you could share some details on your suspension setup, you're really getting a lot out of the bike - I have 4 950's including an S bit all the suspensions are stock internals/springs, and I'm ready to build them for slightly different purposes, including a single track hooligan bike (wearing all the worst bodywork LOL).
    Cheers!

    • @AdventureJeff269
      @AdventureJeff269  9 дней назад +1

      I can share a bit, I suppose. Little back story first. I bought it as an R version so stock 265mm travel. That worked ok for a while until I got comfortable on the bike and then the front always felt very soft. Rear felt too stiff.
      Sent the bike to SPS and the resprung the front and revolved both front and rear. It was a million times better. But they set the suspension up for how I told them I rode at the time. As I got faster, I started to push that setup too far again resulting in bottoming the fork often. No fault of SPS, I just gree as a rider.
      I then had a local guy go through and do a rebuild and asked he add more compression damping to the forks during the rebuild..I think all he did was change fluids and the shim pack was untouched as I found out later. It dis help prevent bottoming... a bit..
      Then last year I went back to SPS and requesting a very aggressive setup. I was bottoming the front often and the rear always felt a bit too stiff still... we went up spring rate on the front quite a bit. I dont remember the rate off the top of my head, but it's big. And actually went down on the shock spring rate a bit since I almost never carry weight on the bike and wanted it a little more active. He put very aggressive valving in both ends. I will say it's magical offroad which is what I was after, but I would advise others against this setup unless you only ride offroad aggressively. It can be very tiring due to the feedback and harshness. But I like it that way so it works for me.
      I would suggest getting in contact with SPS and having a conversation about your riding style and ability, as well as your weight and he will point you in the right direction. I have been super impressed with both setups he gave me with no regrets. The guy is a wizard. Thanks for watching.

    Silky smooth ride and thunderous sounds. Lovely video. Where can I get more information about the lightbar setup?

    • @AdventureJeff269
      @AdventureJeff269  Год назад +2

      It's a black oak 60w light bar. It's high quality similar to rigid. I chose them because of their involvement with veterans. Been on there for years with not a single issue.
      I fabricated the brackets and wired it directly to battery via a relay and have had no issues. Have the relay wired to a rocker switch and also to high beam switch so it's on with my highbeams. Insane bright.
      Thank you for watching!

      @@AdventureJeff269 When I sold her it had 70K miles on the clock (from new) and I did basic service myself which was a nightmare in itself as you had to take almost every front plastic cover, unplug some hoses and connectors, like the hose that connects the two tanks, the fuel line hose, the blinker connectors, etc, then you removed the skid plate, front storage compartment, plus the two tanks. That was the nightmarish part. My 500 EXC in contrast, you take the skid plate (one screw) and 3 other screws from the bottom and you drain the oil. Then if you want to change the oil filter you got another...two screws to deal with. That's it!
