    I’ve built my relationship with God over the past few months more than ever before.
    I suffer from anxiety, nervousness, timidity and I care way too much about what other people think about me. When people look or stare at me it makes me EXTREMELY nervous and anxious. I have dealt with this for as far back as I can remember, since I was about 2 years old I am not 28. It’s a struggle, daily and I’ve prayed about it everyday for weeks. DESPERATELY.
    I just don’t know what to do.

    Realize who and what God is and realize who and what man is. Read your Bible and you will understand who and what God is and who and what man is. If you obey God you will offend man, if you obey man, you will offend God. It's really that simple. The more you grow in your knowledge of God the more you will love Him and the more you will serve Him out of love than out of fear. I try everyday to realize that God shows His grace and mercy and His love and compassion more when He blesses us despite our wickedness. I think once we realize that He doesn't crush us like the cockroaches we are but instead continues to bless us in spite of our blasphemous, sinful lifestyles, we start to care less and less what men think and about what men want. Men absolutely do not have the capacity to fear God like we should, however we have been given the ability to ponder and we choose not to. We are too distracted by everything in this world to fully appreciate God and His attributes and that to me should sadden all of us beyond measure more than it should frighten us. No matter how hard we try, we do not have the ability to fear God as we should and I believe that is because Almighty God wants us to love Him and serve Him out of love more than fear. He shows us everyday how much He loves us by not annihilating us and that proves to me that He wishes more for us to love Him than fear Him. I am ashamed that I do not serve God the way I should. I should be terrified but cannot be because of His grace, mercy and compassion on me. The fact that He has spared me for so long proves His attributes and proves my point about them. I am ashamed, absolutely ashamed that I do so little for Him. Writing this just now, I am ashamed.

      jedi76....Your comment is very interesting and speaks of the will to learn and gain understanding which you are obviously acquiring....your humble stance proves that and I am inclined to agree with all of it. I personally believe that a healthy dose of fear "afraid" of God is also a good thing....a healthy dose mind you. We must be reminded we are dealing with a holy God....and "holy" is a difficult word to grasp or understand....granted, God loves us with grace and tender mercy and that is why He sent His Son to die to prove it and thus also provide forgiveness, but there should be some terror of His judgment because of His holiness as well....should any reject His Son, He surely will reject on the last day. God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble....like you.

      @@josephdavis8017 if it is ultimately our free will that decided who we followed none of us would be saved, not one of us, God is the one that calls those he saves, he not only acquips us to turn to him he gives us the free gift of faith and repentance in his grace and mercy so that we will be saved, he then justifies us in Christ and keeps us saved through the work of the Holy Spirit, even with a new heart and the continual help of the Holy Spirit we rebel and struggle with our sin nature.

      I still do not understand why we should be scared of God, so scared that we serve Him. I know that I was terrified and with good reason of my mother, and I never lived here for I hated her right up to the day I found her dead after my dad I believe had taken her life sometime before my dad told me to go check to see if my mother was awake, for he had never before asked me that I can remember to go into my mother's room right after I woke up, he knew I was scared of her too. Therefore, my fear of my mother caused me to become to hate her so badly that I wanted her dead before this, and I even prayed while the ambulance was in my house doing whatever they had to do I was outside at the age of barely 11 yrs old praying to God by saying; please 🙏 God don't let my mom wake up I pray God that she never wakes up again... So what I was praying for was that my mother was dead this time for sure. As of today I forgive my mother and know now as an adult that she was very sick mentally, and she also was a prescription addict, as a kid, I didn't know anything about mental health or addictions to drugs. Thank you for the comment you shared, cause you made scents when you said, you have a hard time fearing God at the same time as loving God and you would rather love God for all He has done for you than fear God. See, I don't understand how you can love someone is your are scared to death of that person???

    Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling….do not fear man whose breath is in his nostrils, but fear Him who can cast both body and soul into Hell….these Scriptures in addition to many others certainly impress that to fear God is more than a “respect” and likely necessary in order to have true reverence for God. God is the same yesterday, today and forever…to cultivate the fear of God, spend time reading the prophets and remember how quickly God dealt with Ananias and Sapphire for their lie and hypocrisy. We need not diminish the word fear…which alternatively per Scripture means “terror” and “dread”….God is love…but God is Holy and we must be Holy, which is only possible in Christ.

      @@elainestewart8904 I can completely understand your comments about being abused, and having the fear of man more than the fear of God,
      My fear of man is putting his thoughts about me, and or opinions of me ahead of what God says about me, having this performance attitude towards man, to be accepted, I am born again filled with the Holy Ghost, God has truly delivered me from soooo much, but I seem to still struggle in this area. The people I would have this fear about, wouldn't dare give their Son to be abused and murdered so I can be set free, yet God did, and I put more stock into what man think or say,.....that won't do nothing for me, and disregard what God has done...
      Something gotta change, I pray God will dig this twisted thinking up by the root from both of us,
      and heal our deep battered wounds, and cast the roots on the fire pit where they belong, so that we may embrace the more and more, TRUE, UNWAVERING LOVE OF GOD...be blessed❤

    • @jeffreywatts3105
      @jeffreywatts3105 3 года назад +2

      I find your comment quite intriguing and I’d love to pose an response. So in 1 John 4, the apostle John is describing the confidence we have due to the things God has done for us. This is similar to the boldness that we approach the throne with because of the atoning sacrifice of our Great High Priest.
      When we are told to “fear God”, it is not fear in the way we fear outcomes or what lies in the dark. Fearing God is as Dr. Lawson describes, a healthy reverence for a holy God. It is a deep respect to know that yes I am His child but I call Him “Father” not “daddy”. I know He has the power to judge and condemn and my breathe and life come from Him.
      But 1 John 4:18 is not talking about this healthy reverence that is reserved for our Heavenly Father. He is talking about worldly fear that the principalities of darkness plant in our heart to side track us. The perfect and satisfying love of God casts out that weak fear. We stand in confidence while the world runs around in fear. We have hope while the world is hopeless. Because He has secured our salvation through His Son.
      But we “fear” Him in the way that we deeply respect Him. This is why we get on our knees or prostrate ourselves in prayer. He is holy and He deserves to be honored as holy.
      These are my thoughts I hope it helps point you to the Word and to ask a pastor!

    This talk fails to emphasize that fear of the Lord is intrinsically linked to obedience as a disciple of Jesus. In other words, we often simply equate Fear of God with orthodoxy instead of orthopraxy.

    • @jeffreywatts3105
      @jeffreywatts3105 3 года назад

      I believe that this talk described both orthodoxy and orthopraxy quite well. Dr. Lawson stated that a healthy, reverential fear of God is cultivated by prayer, worship, devotion to the Word and this is orthopraxy. Theology influences doxology.

    • @troystevens459
      @troystevens459 3 года назад

      @@jeffreywatts3105 I agree they described it, but failed to emphasize it properly. In most churches the doctrine is spoken of but the application is woeful. Case in point, look at how many pastors today simply refuse to take a stand against the tyranny unfolding around us. This is a problem of application, not doctrine. We are literally seeing the roll out of the mark of the beast and most pastors are content to do online services and tell us we'll soon return to normal. And yet the Holy Spirit has been warning for years to prepare for this moment. God is about to restore the Fear of the Lord to the church in a powerful way, but it won't be merely a doctrinal discussion. It will be a redux of Acts 5, which is all about the fear of the Lord coming to the early church.

    I believe you are using the incorrect definition for "Fear," @Ligonier Ministries, it has two. One means "prepare to fight or flee" and the other "approach with cautious learning."
    Why do you think Adam was told "judge not"? It's because it "disallows being afraid (a judgment) and allows cautious learning." With Adam being told don't judge, we will learn from everything, animals (Adam had a mind of a newborn) other man and Father God's if we ask. As a matter of fact, when we never judge we are never afraid therefore we by "fearing" we will learn something about whatever we observe.
