    This looks a much more polished machine. You've obviously learned a lot and taken note of customers feedback. Good work

    I thought the original DMC2 was cool, but this looks even better! Love that you include 3rd party part numbers for spare parts... kudos for that decision!

      That's interesting,
      What's your use case?

    • @GoughCustom
      @GoughCustom 3 месяца назад +3

      @@geekoid183 I run a small machine shop manufacturing my products, I already have industrial level CNC milling capabilities (2x Vertical Machining Centers) but some jobs in my process, like trimming thermoformed parts, just don't require a machine of that level. A small machine like the DMC2 could be dedicated to that process and keep the more expensive machines running on jobs that need their extra capability.

    I have the the first DMC2 and it's a great machine. I had issues tramming due to unmachined square tubing, but Omar was always very responsive and sent out replacement parts as necessary. I'm happy to see the upgrades. I would not hesitate to purchase this machine if you're in the market for a small very capable mill.

    Man.... This is very tempting. Going to have to look into this further. Been a CNC machinist for almost 30 years and would love something like this. So many things I can't do on my manual lathe and mill.

    Would be pretty cool if all this was on the website.

    I see debri on the probe magnets at 7:53 Would this have an effect on probe accuracy?

    • @shariffdmc3406
      @shariffdmc3406  4 месяца назад +3

      Yes, they will pull all the steel chips in. So the easiest solution is to keep a toothbrush or keyboard brush on hand and swipe over the magnets to clean it off before using the probe. The magnets are flush to the top surface where they are mounted so that chips will slide off with a single swipe or two. We experimented with a cover but ultimately it just complicated things and still let a few chips in behind regardless.

    It would be cool if you offered an ESS / Mach 4 option. I converted another CNC and dealt with all the BS that comes with Mach but now that I am done it works well. Hard to go back to Mach 3...

    • @shariffdmc3406
      @shariffdmc3406  4 месяца назад +2

      The 4th axis will be compatible with the DMC2 (original) since it is the same control board. The DMC2 Mini breakout board just has an extra plug now to make it alot easier to add to the machine. Everything else (software/electronics side) is more or less the same in terms of functionality.

    I have a Masso Touch that I'd like to use with this. Sounds like that is possible.
    Is the spindle reversible so we can add a Rapid Change ATC?

    • @shariffdmc3406
      @shariffdmc3406  4 месяца назад +3

      Yes it should be compatible, our motor drivers operate with 5v step/direction signals which the Masso board outputs. The other buttons are just opening/closing a circuit. And the spindle operates with a 10v analog speed signal. Masso can output this spindle signal according to their docs, or you can upgrade to PWM spindle signals since our VFD can accept a PWM speed signal.

    • @shariffdmc3406
      @shariffdmc3406  4 месяца назад +3

      The spindle is not reversible in the configuration we sell it as, but it does have the functionality if you wanted to set this up. Adding an ATC is possible but very space restricted due to the compact design of the DMC2 Mini frame.

    Soldered wires into screw terminals is a failure prone, potentially fire causing, choice.
    Use a ferule instead of solder. That will actually last and is the gold standard.
    Everything looks killer but that.
