  • (1/4) Mother-in-law wants a “classic” everything white wedding - white cake, white decor, white flowers… This is not the bride and groom's look in the slightest.

My mom and dad eloped so when my sister became engaged mom loved being involved. She made a binder for me and both of my sisters, with everything documented. She didn't overwhelm us or argue but she was just so excited for our weddings.

So many MOB's and MIL's seem to want their daughters to have the wedding of MOM"s dreams, or a repeat of their own wedding. State your opinion and back off. You're not the one who's getting married.

Nah, don't even state your opinion unless the couple asks for it. They're grown adults, they know what they like.

Exactly. They had their turn at planning the wedding of their dreams, it’s now up to the Bride and Groom to plan theirs accordingly.

I guess I was really lucky.
my mother-in-law was an absolute darling and really didn't care what I did with my wedding.
I knew what I wanted and I got what I wanted.
Just a beautiful memory, the whole thing.
my dad walked me down the aisle.
    it was absolutely wonderful.
Mom, dad and my former mother-in-law are all gone now.
so the memories are even more precious.
I don't understand why people have to be up in other people's business like this clearly the young couple has a plan of how they want things if they ask for help that's fantastic you can advise them otherwise keep your mouth shut.
    it's truly very simple.
Neither of my children have gotten married. when they do it's on them. I don't care how or what they plan to do with it.
They are legal adults. they have their own mind and ideas on what they want to do with their wedding, it is not my business.
They just need to tell me
    1. am I invited, date time and address.
    2. where I should squat and lean once I get there.
If they asked for my opinion? I shall offer it once & not bother them thereafter. I'm just going to be happy for them.
