The Care of the Dead by Anonymous - 1916

The Imperial War Graves Commission (IWGC) was established during World War I with the mission to mark, record, and maintain the graves of Commonwealth military personnel who died in the war. Founded by Sir Fabian Ware, the IWGC ensured that the fallen soldiers were commemorated with dignity, regardless of their rank or background. It is estimated that over 9 million military personnel were killed in The Great War.
