I guess it's still cheaper and smaller than the Milwaukee option. But damn.

I sent Ryobi a ton of product ideas and they didn't seem interested at all. Honestly I think most would sell even though they may be a bit ridiculous.
    1. Ryobi Denailer. Same as their nailgun, except a piston to set or remove the nails from the back side.
    2. A small drill on the new lithium platform. You're not drilling 2" holes, but smaller pilot holes very doable
    3. Ryobi 18V can crusher. yeah it's dumb, but I bet all of you would buy it and so would I.
    4. inverter for the lithium line making it a small power bank. There are times this would be handy for getting a small charge in a phone.
5.expand the hand tools. Hammers, axes, hatchets, prybars, and ,ore than the janky 2 folding knives they offer.
    6. take the hobby knife with quick change right back to the drawing board. I invented the retractable X-acto one. They told me "no thank you" and then made it anyway.
    7. expanding into more camping related items. More lights, string lights, a powered extending bellows for the fire, ect.

Yo Clint! In the specs of the 80v power source does it disclose the country of origin? I have 2 40v 300w power sources and they're both made in Vietnam. Which is fine by me. Also, aren't the type C end to end charge cords less popular than the type C to type A end to end charge cords? 🤷‍♂️

@8:15 you said you could charge your mower with it, but it's the reverse. You utilize all your mower batteries in this configuration, most ideal for continuous extended runtime.
I think the way they show it being used is silly. 80v power bank tank to power your 18v hybrid fan & charge a phone in one, or the one with the laptop, and he has a USB power brick, yet the inverter has 3 USB outlets

Two issues with 80v. (Ignoring price)
    A. It’s heavy, so not reasonable for very many tools.
    B. It’s overkill for many things.

    • @ScottTooley
      @ScottTooley Месяц назад +1

I agree with you. Even with the mowers, I still cannot figure out why they didn't just build it out as 40v x2 configuration. They even released the 12amp 40v batteries at the same time, which in an 80v x2 config actually have 2ah more than the single 80v pack. Heck, as of today, 2 12ah 40v batteries cost $800, and a single 80v 10ah costs $900. The 40v batteries, at this time, are infinitely more useful than these 80v batteries that only work for a couple things. This is one area where Ego had better ideas. They use their 56v batteries for everything.

Ryobi definitely has more tools. Makita may have more bar codes, but they dont have as many different tools. Makita says they have the most tools, but like 60 of them are drills so they really dont have as many different tools. I wouldnt be surprised if even dewalt had more different tools than makita. Kinda cheating saying they have the most tools when like a 1/4-1/3 are the same type of tool.

The 80v system will not last. I see these mowers on clearance ALL the time and they don't move. People want a 40v tractor or zero turn. 2 12ah 40v batteries is more capacity and cheaper than a single 80v battery. The 40v 8 and 12ah batteries use samsung t40 21700 cells, where as the 80v batteries use 100 cheap eve cells. Also for the record. Both ryobi snow blowers use 40v batteries, but are 80v tools. They both require 2 batteries to be loaded in order to run, aka they run in series, doubling voltage, not ah. The same way they can make a 40v 30 in push mower by using 2 batteries in series.
The elephant in the room is ego with their 56v platform. Their riding mowers share batteries with their string trimmers and blowers, and with 6 12ah batteries, has notably more Wh than the ryobi 80v. Even the zero turn with the extra 12ah 40v batteries doesn't beat ego in terms of capacity. And the 80v batteries actually charge the 40v batteries, so you have more strain on the 80v's adding to their cycle count
