The speedrunners are so fast that poor Nigel can't finish his introduction before they have already finished the test. Also, what happened at the end? He just phased in the sentry and teleported to another dimension.
Almost correct. The first parts are correct. When the turret falls over like that it loses collision so you can jump into it. When you save/load it regains collision and tries to push you out. In this case it gave me a little bit of sideways momentum as well towards the pit which is needed. And when you then continue to save/load the game still tries to push you out of the object and in this version of Source it pushes you down every save/load which results in you going into the wall first. Rinse repeat till it forces you out of the wall and into the pit using the sideways momentum you got from getting stuck in the turret at the start. SO no it didn't sent me flying but because the segments were all 2 ticks long it looks like that. LUL The clipping itself was like 10 segments.
14:01 Nigel: This test chamber is divided into two segments- Swagatron: One where you redirect the beam and another where you setup a repulsion gel stuck launch towards the exit.
Maybe they took points away because Nigel didn’t know it was part of the test. Or maybe they didn’t like how the test was solved so they just pretended it was because the music was turned off even though they knew perfectly well it wasn’t.
I've not finished Tag yet (got kinda stuck on the first test with portals) but i don't think this speedrun has really spoiled anything. . .Now having finished watching my theories were confirmed. Also i could really see this being a good speedrun game. Has a lot of neat tricks and tech and it's not just abusing silly glitches to skip vast portions of game like Portal speedruns.

Oh man. I forgot how bad the writing was for this mod... when compared to the actual portal 2 writing, this feels so cringey... well, the puzzles are good and it was a cool idea.
Yep. It’s okay, but I gave it a negative review for many reasons. The only good point it has (and they are pretty good good points), is the PeTI and the gameplay
First, AWESOME run! Second, looking back at this, it's funny how this and Portal Stories Mel are NIGHT AMD DAY! Aperture Tag is a paid mod/game, with lazy writing that's trying too hard to repeat what the two original games did. It has some VERY basic design looking levels (in terms of art and environment) until it gets to the outdoor-themed ones. And 25% of the game is just going through tubes for long periods of time with no music. Portal Stories Mel is a free mod, with VERY detailed and appealing levels, strong narrative, tons of fun secrets (AT had secrets, though most of them were kinda meh), and a satisfying beginning, middle, and end. AT has some cool things. The gel mechanic is fun, and is sometimes used very creatively, and (like I said) the outdoor-themed levels are VERY unique and beautiful! PSM isn't perfect. The Cave Johnson gag goes one a bit too much, and some of the puzzles have HUGE difficulty spikes. Also, I know PSM had a larger team. But when a mod like AT has so much room for improvement and thinks it should be paid for, while PSM have so much more quality, and doesn't ask for any money, I just feel like the differences are very jarring.
13:49 ''maybe not a hour but you still idled for quite a while just doing nothing supposedly thinking how to solve the test'' zner:wdym i just got here in like 20 seconds
Aleph Portal Stories Mel has so much personality compared to this. It's not like the use of paint made it any more difficult to have interesting characters and levels either, most levels on the workshop with cave johnson at the start have more personality than this.
I wasn't very impressed with Mel, it seemed all over the place and I couldn't stand to listen to Virgil go, "Hmm, I think there's a lever 2 feet in front of you, maybe you should pull it," for 4 hours. But it was free so I'm happy it exists. Aperture Tag was just broken and annoying.
Most of the levels can be easily cheated by anyone with a triple digit IQ. The voice acting was abysmal. There seemed to be no quality control whatsoever. The paint gun actually was taken from another game called "Tag" that inspired the gels in Portal 2, and subsequently inspired this developer to make a whole spin-off using it. I thought PS: Mel was a great stepping stone in terms of legitimizing community created content (regardless of how much I *HATED* Virgil). This, however, would've worked much better as a map pack on the Portal 2 Workshop, but instead they released a full product, took out a $50,000 loan to buy the rights to the Source engine, then sold the game for $5. This game is the Hunt Down the Freeman of Portal.
I didn't mind AP: Tag mostly because i only spent 79c on it on sale, that's about the right price point, sure the puzzles have decent design to them but if i just wanted good puzzle design there are a million fantastic puzzles on the workshop for free. Plus as this speedrun showed there was very little effort put into the game to make it so it couldn't just be broken completely.
when following in the footsteps of glados and cave johnson, you better have a good announcer. he was okay but really not good enough for a portal game.
