  • A run through the 'XK8 Bible' Crank, no start checklist. If your Jaguar XK8/XKR is cranking but failing to start this is a series of checks to perform in order to find the issue. Thankfully I have never had this issue and I am only going through the checklist in theory. If you have any other suggestions please do not hesitate to add them in the comment section. Video GV31.
    Please check the relevant fuse diagram for your model years as there are sutle changes.

    Thank you 🙌 I drove my 2002 XK8 50 miles. I was driving it for about two weeks straight (after it sitting for awhile) I was buying a new daily went to a dealership and made a funny comment saying …my jaguar is going to get jealous)
    .” I go out and it doesn’t start it kind of sputters and dies…sputters and dies. I Wait three hours for a tow home, let it sit for a week, I go to start it and it just cranks… went through your steps. I think it was the inertia switch reset that did it. thank you so much. This video series is a godsend. 10:51

    Hi, do you know if after I manually reset the inertia switch I have to clear any (potentially) stored codes? I am asking because I don't have access to a scan tool. Thank you.

      CarStart, no reseting the inertia switch should not require the clearing of any codes. Hope that helps regards Damian

    • @ODRModurol
      @ODRModurol  Год назад

      Glenn, not sure to be honest. Think it’s a dealer software job to recode the car to keys etc. unless someone has some software of their own. There are transponders in the keys and a transponder ring around the lock barrel. The ring has to see the key to allow the car to start. Sorry can’t be more helpful, regards Damian

    Can u please elaborate on the inertia switch. When I pressed it, it pressed down with a click. I tried to put the key in, then turned it to position 2 for a couple seconds but didn’t fix my issue. I thought maybe I did it wrong and tried again but when I pushed the inertia switch again, it depressed but without a click. I tried holding it down for a few seconds while going thru the steps with the key.. still didn’t fix it. The car worked just fine one day and then crank but no start the next day.

    • @ODRModurol
      @ODRModurol  2 года назад +1

      heathersgreeneyes, I believe the inertia switch only clicks once to reset. It then needs to be triggered before being reset again, that's the assumption anyway. If it hasn't fixed the issue probably best to look at the next item on the list. Sorry I cant be more helpful. Hope you get the car started, regards Damian

    my 2000 xkr suddenly went into limp mode then completely shut down it would crank over but wouldn't start, thanks to your video i managed to to find that the 10 amp fuse was blown near the ECM module i replaced it the car started and ran for about 10 seconds and blew the fuse again any ideas it was running perfectly before this any ideas

    • @ODRModurol
      @ODRModurol  Год назад

      Mikeyboy68, sorry haven't had any direct experience of the ECM fuse blowing. Might be a short in the wiring somewhere or a problem with the ECM itself. These can be repaired and are easier that fitting a new one as needs to be linked to the car etc. Sorry, I can't be more helpful, regards Damian

      Airman Bear, the ECM is under front scuttle and plastic cover near the bulk head. If RHD is in the LHS and if LHD it’s in the RHS. Pull off the cover and it should be there next to a small fuse next. Hope that helps. Thanks for the comment regards Damian

    • @ODRModurol
      @ODRModurol  3 года назад +1

      Airman Bear, not normally effective by moisture. Do you have an vent bonnet eg XKR because if so water can fall out the engine. Spark plug cover seals can fail and allow water in. Hope that helps, regards Damian
