It's so hard to find people in England making plant care videos! They all seem to be made by people in much sunnier places! So, THANKYOU! Now I just need you too do rubber plant; snake plant, cheese plant, raven plant, calatheas and english ivy 😂
Aww thank you so much for watching! But yeah there aren't that many UK plant youtubers! I have videos on all those plants you mentioned except for english ivy! Go check them out from my channel!
I really abused my kentia for quite some time ( 2 years). I was expecting it to die but it didn't. It looks terrible but it's a fighter. Now I'm trying to actually do what it needs. I've moved it away from direct light, I now water it more. Almost killed it in the past with too much water though. It's very important to not overwater. :))
@@holyfox94 See I had that problem as well. I was sold the one in the video as a kentia palm, yet it was actually an areca and I seriously didn't even know until I posted this video. I think kentias have fewer, thicker fronds than arecas.
Your video help little bit but still have a major problem. Kent dieing and the branches are falling out. My kentia had lot of branches but now it has lost most of it branches. Really don't know what to do about it. Please HELP.
Do you know why some of my Kentia leaves are curled inwards, unsmooth surface? No brown tips. It's a newly bought plant but just want to make sure I can save these leaves before the die out. I'm assuming they were dried out or over heated in a store? Misting more often would help?
U probably already fixed the problem but depending on the size check the roots if not than it’s either to hot and direct sun or not enough water, probably the sun tho
I'm so glad to finally find a plant RUclipsr based in UK! I got my kentia plant yesterday and I named it Gloria, as she is so glorious haha anyway, great video and you got a new subscriber:)
Yeah I learned that after filming the video.... It was sold as a kentia so I didn't know any better! Whoops! All the info is correct for kentia though if you have one of those! Thanks for letting me know
I've been referring to mine as a kentia palm because that's how it was sold to me in New Jersey. I think it's the other species that the OP suggested. Sowild that we get wrong info from the stores!
Please help… I think my Kentia palm is growing too big for my pot! I think this is because my palm is leaning to the side a lot on one side. I went to a plant shop and they advised I check the bottom of the plant, If the roots are growing this means it needs changing. Though when I checked the bottom it seemed fine to me. I have had my Kentia for 14 months now going to 15 months. Do you advise I repot?
I’d advise a repot even just to adjust it to stop leaning. When you take it out, if it looks like the roots need more room, upsize. If not, adjust it in the original pot to straighten it out. Just be gentile as they don’t like their roots being messed with too much! Good luck!
@@mimi19921 It really depends on the soil it's in. If it's still looking lush then just add more as needed, but otherwise I wouldn't stress too much about it.
Hi...I have Kentia palm since February this year and I’ve been cutting it down cause it turned brown but now there’s only have 1 left and is half way brown not all the way thou and I would like to save it , it means a lot to me since it was a gift from my brother what would you recommend me doing ?
Yes is true shortly after I wrote to you I have purchase fertilizer and was going to replant it but when I took it out the roots were rotten the middle part easily was taken out by me trying to clean the dry leaves and also I notice the pot didn’t have holes on the bottom but thank you
Be careful that you’re don’t cut the palm heart „leaf“. It dies if you do. Mine like to be constantly moist. If the top gets dry, I’m on full panic alert because I don’t want brown tips. Shower it or put it in the summer rain. They like it. I will put mine in semi hydro / Lechuza one day. I’m just scared. Mine is 2 meters and was pretty expensive but it’s such a awesome statement piece which gives a perfect jungle vibe. They’re thirsty buggers fom Tasmania. A wet, rainy country.
Ok so i'm an absolute newbie to plants in general. I really like this kind of plant but I can't let that thing grow too much.. Is it possible for me to trim it so that it keeps a certain height or it will kill the plant? I know its a really dumb question probably but again.. Absolute100% newb here.
Everyone starts somewhere and no question is a stupid question! I think this one would be quite difficult to cut down to be a certain height because as far as I know you can't make the stems stay sort, so you'd be trimming off the little fronds which isn't ideal. It wouldn't necessarily kill the plant but it would make it a lot less attractive, in my opinion. If you want something that is naturally smaller but still gives the same vibes, I would suggest a parlour palm! Best of luck on your plant journey and thanks for watching!
Oh no! At least it's cat safe! So branches from palms like this will grow from the base, so if you're cutting branches only cut the specific branch and cut as close as you can to the base. Also I used a citrus spray to deter our cat from messing with my plants. I'm pretty sure it worked cuz she only occasionally bothers them now
Thank you so much for responding. Ive bought some pruning shears and ill cut near the base. I saw a video that mentioned the citrus won't last long but I'll definitely give it a try. I'm experimenting with banana peels soaked in water as a fertiliser hopefully that doesn't affect the citrus.
Ive watched a plant video before Ive watched yours. And the woman in the other video said that you should not touch the plant to often. Because they don’t like it and thats one reason why the plants get brown Leaf tips. And in your video. Touchy Touchy Touchy😅😂
I took some pebbles off a friend that got a big bag for an art project. He got them from a hardware store though in a massive bag. I've tried to find smaller quantities but had a lot of trouble. That's one reason I don't really do many pebble trays!
I don’t think you should be giving advice if you can’t tell that that’s an areca palm and not a kentia, which behave very differently from each other 👀
Yeah someone else mentioned that to me as well! Whoops! All of the information is still correct though if you just ignore the actual plant in the video! Sorry about that!!
Really big talk from a guy with no videos. It takes a hell of a lot of balls to actually film something and put it on the internet for people to see.
