Kentia Palm (Howea forsteriana) is considered the most elegant Palm grown as a houseplant. It was so adored that the wealthy in Victorian era England had them in their homes. They are very expensive and may be difficult to find. If you find one, it is definitely worth the investment! 🌴

My parlor palm is 3 years old and a meter and a half tall. It flowers with pretty yellow flowers and even self seeds more palm trees. They do eventually make a trunk over time like any other palm, just small like a bonsai version. One of my favorite plants.

    Hey man, thanks for sharing.
Question: Did you say you water it once a month? If so, how much water do you give your palm each time?

Any updates on your kentias? Do you think splitting them is a good idea? I’m not sure whether I should split mine and repot them in seperate pots. 🤔

Thanks for asking! It's still doing well. In the 2 years I've owned it, it has only grown 2 fronds. Very very slow growing in low light, but thrives. You can split it, Palm roots are very shallow and don't typically spread and fill a whole pot unless it's very old. Just be careful of transplant shock and give it extra TLC after dividing

I'm afraid the second palm you show in the video (5:42) isn't a Kentia palm... Her name in Dypsis lutescens, or commonly know as Areca palm

I have had Areca Palm before as a young plant such as this, very similar. However, I purchased this little guy from a nursery in Florida shipped via Etsy advertised as a Kentia and I have done close evaluation of the foliage and I have concluded it is in fact a young Kentia.

During the sapling stage it is very difficult to differentiate certain species. I have learned that the hard way. From a short distance an young Kentia and Areca can look nearly the same
