      Do you fish for Northerns in the USA? And Muskie as well? We don’t have Muskie over here but wow what an awesome fish they are

      @@Thomhuntfishing Yes, both! Our home lake in Minnesota has a lot of small to medium size pike (22 to 30 inchers are common) and a few very large muskies. Last year, I caught one musky, and it was 48 inches. It was the fish of a lifetime. I released it and had a replica made for the wall. I generally cast musky lures on musky gear and still catch a lot of pike and bass as well. Our lake is clear and deep (up to 105 ft deep) with lots of structure and a wide array of baitfish (cisco, perch, bluegill, suckers, crappies) for pike and muskies to feed on, so fishing it is a fun challenge. It is probably more similar to the Scandinavian waters you have fished than your UK waters, I'm guessing. But I still gain so much from your RUclips video analysis. Thanks again.

    Hi Thom, my local river runs through a meadow and is max depth of 6 foot, could you perhaps do a video discussing the variables and the thinking behind a good choice of lure and weight? That would be brilliant. Take care and happy Christmas

    I have been using the 12 centimetre shadteez headlight had great results as of bites but mainly all jacks cant seem to whack into a big one yet but il take your advice and keep going thanks thom gunna need to get a heavier setup I think 👍

    • @Thomhuntfishing

      Some venues might only have jacks in, but do try a bigger set up to select better fish if you want to target a big one!

    Top tips from top angler as always 👍 By the way have You ever fished hypo teez in 25cm and If what do You think of this lure in 25cm version? Regarding rods i use powershad to 180gr and throw big baits like shadteez27 with up to 30gr jigheads and its ok however maybe monsterstick would be better (especially with weighted lure) Powershad is good rod it bends nicely and hooks the fish properly for me most of the time.
    Have a good day !

      I have the westin w4 monsterstick 150-290g it's an awesome rod and has plenty of feel and backbone, it's super light too

      Used the 25cm Hypoteez a few times, I know it’s a firm favourite of DB fishing (check out his channel) too he’s had some great pike on them

    Hello, Thom. Great video as always. Would you use those big swimbaits in medium/big river with a pretty strong current? Thank you!

    • @Thomhuntfishing
      @Thomhuntfishing  2 года назад

      Yes, and if you need to add weight in strong flow to get them down in the water slightly just more lead as needed!

    Great vid again Thom. Say, what size hook you'd use on 12 and 14cm Shadteez/Slim Shadteez? Also does 14cm need rear stinger or is it only for 16cm+?

    • @Thomhuntfishing
      @Thomhuntfishing  2 года назад

      On the 12 & 14cm I use a 5/0 or 6/0
      Stingers are dependant on fish size you’re catching and how they are taking the lure but I’ll fish a stinger even on a 12cm if they’re small fish or being fussy

      @paake3134 2 года назад

      @@Thomhuntfishing Cheers. Thanks to your tips, i'll be downscaling my gear to 15-50g for coming season. Atleast it's way more forgiving for hands than chugging 100g lures all day lol. Having hard time to decide what lures to get though, when theres nice looking Shadteez, slims, ricky the roaches etc.

    Hi Thom, I’ve just ordered a shed load of westin shad teez lures in 9, 12 & 16 cm. could you possibly advise on what size hook jig heads would best match up with these 3 sizes please?
    I’m looking at matching them up with the westin jigs so I’m guessing you’ve got a good idea…… thanks 👍👍

    • @Thomhuntfishing
      @Thomhuntfishing  2 года назад +1

      Yep 9cm best on 2/0 or 3/0, the 12cm is good on 4/0 or 5/0 and the 16cm 8/0 👍🏻

    The swim has to be the best lure ever. I've been fishing it since Feb on my local canal and I rearly blank. By the way river jacks feel like doubles. 👍
