Yep. Take it slow, enjoy the tanks and aircraft, because as far as early tiers are concerned, you won't be using them for long grinding-wise. I was really sad when I had to move on from the M10 when grinding U.S., my personel favorite TD.
I don’t think I’ll struggle too hard with that. My personal eternal struggle is not remembering how to have fun unless I’m performing well. The last game I was able to truly put a ton of time into and not care so much about winning or losing (at least for the first few hundred[!] hours) was Rocket League. I think that’s because it was so unique relative to anything I’d played where I didn’t have any expectations of ability or gameplay. I don’t know how to do it otherwise.
My friend had just installed the game, kept dying, wanted to get a plane, spent a couple of dollars on a premium plane BR 1 I think, died fast, realized that he couldn't use the plane cuz yk spawn point and ended up quitting the game
General Tip: Do not, under ANY circumstances, no matter how good your armour or gun is, I beg you, do NOT be seen. If you are seen, chances are you are as good as dead. Look at the map for flanking routes, hit the enemy from the side and general beat the light out of them.
On not purchasing high tier premium vehicles, especially planes: Not only will you not know the basics, but if you aren't upgrading your crews as well, you will be even more outmatched by veterans who have maxed out crews. You will be blacking out in high G turns much quicker than your counterparts, your crew will die with less damage, tanks take longer to repair, etc. Just grind for a bit and gain some experience with flying, upgrade the crew a little bit, and then think about higher tier premium planes. Otherwise, you will just get frustrated and have wasted money on vehicles that you don't even use because you don't play the game anymore.

Bro it was such a great video keep helping people out but one thing put me off so much… It went from wholesome outro to “ And if you absolutely hate it and think I should go unalive my self then dislike it “ 😂
Great information and well put, I just can't make it out of 1.3 BR and that's sad, I love getting one shot from .75 km through 4-5 trees while I speed towards the objective while at an angle, think this is finally it for me
I've tried a few different methods including this over the past few matches, unless I'm behind hard cover and basically flanking nothing, I just get shot by people who's names have just appeared on screen, I have alot higher chances at close range but it's still 50/50, I can critical hit someones gun only only for them to one shot me while I reload, because having taken out the gun, I assume myself safe from the one person until my next shot, it's just incredibly tedious to have not even made it to br 2 yet (researched it but stayed back, as I still get stomped in br 1) But thank you for responding so quickly, truely shows integrity in what you do
@@WatchMysh I dunno, how fruitful can it be at BR 5 if BR 1 is such a grind? But even if it's not for me, I really have to appreciate the game in itself, it is a great one
It is very player-dependent in how fast you learn. Took me good ebough time until I moved from arcade to Realistic and was able to aim from 57mm guns to 150mm guns up to 700-800m without rangefinding.
*dont buy a high tier prem if you are just starting the game* as a level 100 with 3k+ hours this is the best info you could get, take the time to learn the game first and get a understanding of it, buying a high tier premium when you just start will be hard because most of the players at top tier are mostly experienced
That's correct. My opinion on top of that is: don't EVER pay 50-60 bucks for a top tier Premium Vehicle. It's just a means to accelerate the grind while you get almost nothing in return. For the price of a whole AAA game all you get is a half-assed model of a plane/tank/ship for use in WT aka running with partly broken physics systems.
@@WatchMysh I really like your opinion but it really depends on the premium, and well if you have alot of game time in the end the money is spent well? But that is correct so wait for sales if you can haha
Good guide as someone who is also a bit new too the game this helps simple and straight too the point. My recomandation would be to bring allong a friend of 2 especially in tank battles. I have the luck of playing with a guy that has a lot of experience in the game and an other friend that is at the same Point of progression as me. I did make the "mistake" of picking britain as my starting nation but i'm having Fun with thema and other countries seem easier.
The British are really nice. I love the Cromwells. They are beasts if used properly. Also British cas is strong with the Hellcat and other fighter/bombers and the nasty Spitfires to surpress enemy planes.
Something that isn’t talked about enough for planes: you need to climb aggressively regardless of what plane you fly in RB and SB. Altitude gives you options and allows you to assist teammates. Think about winning and not just getting the kills/points. Focusing on points gets you killed and terminally frustrated.
Hey at 5:42 you mentioned that maxxing out a tank gives more research points so in order to get as many points as possible it would make the most sense to just max all tanks to move on to the next? Please correct me if im wrong here just looking to know if its more efficient
@@dontcaretbh1335 That's true. But only for the next tank you're researching in the sequence. You could be done with it before having maxed out the previous one for example.
Whelp, I _was_ gonna play: but that "repair" system has turned me off. I don't wanna have to wait hours or days for something to get repaired so I can play again. I'd rather just buy the game once and not deal with it, not feel like I'm playing Clash of Clans on PC.
I should try playing this again. I had only briefly played around 2014-2015 when my older brother introduced me to the game. Unfortunately, I stopped playing when he stopped playing with me.
As a veteran play i have only one advice for players who are just starting to play the game and that is dont play the game gaijin doesnt give a fck about you they only want money the game is literaly power crip and grind fest with broken mechanics and economy.
Great explain you forgot that Gajin now aiming at hardcore players and collectors instead of new players by dropping new ifv, planes, helicopters and tanks in package on pre order which extra bonus (premium, titels, camo and emblems).
The game is grossly inaccurate and is a grind. The grind actaully helps your crew be better such as keen sight (longer distance view) etc So basically to get favorable results with a shot one has to have put in enough time other wise you will be just fodder. Thsi doesnt mean you cant get kills but you will go down super easy and not kill as easy as you are being killed until you have the same settings. Really thsi isnt a game worth putting time into.
Yes and no. It sometimes is inaccurate and always grind, yes. But you can do well with a crap crew. Problem is: as you start out you'll get oneshot even with an ace crew because you're not familiar with the game's dynamics and the maps.
@@WatchMysh I stated as such from your point. Yes you can get kills but they will come from familairity and the benefits of your crew being leveled up. But overall it is widely inaccurate from a historical performance view on tanks they have matched up. There was a reason the Sherman was nicknamed (from both sides) as the Ronson which was a popular ciggarette lighter. It lit up on just one strike.
@@roo2127 Yes, in in the end it's an arcade game. I personally don't expect accuracy like IL2 or DCS here. And it's a free2play to grinder with all the problems that come with this monetization model.
Naval battles are an easy way to collect silver lions fast, without boosters, so you can buy the planes you need....or tanks. Don't discredit the naval side.
I think naval gameplay still sucks balls. BUT you're absolutely correct. :) I'm making an upgraded guide right now which includes some naval aspects like the silver lion gain you mentioned.

I love how you have to fight like T-34 tanks with a tiny 30 mil and no armor
Best beginner tips: leave before the snail consumes you
Really good video, I shouldve showed this video when I introduced my friend to wt. It was very frustrating explaining him everything :\
i have the patience to play but all i need now are some friends to play with and some GE to help me progress a bit easier
Thank you for this video! I wish I had watched this 2 years ago after spending way too much time grinding American tanks 😂😭
Your outro was worth liking and sub
Bro it was such a great video keep helping people out but one thing put me off so much…
It went from wholesome outro to
“ And if you absolutely hate it and think I should go unalive my self then dislike it “ 😂
Thanks, this video was really helpful. I just the game a few weeks ago and this video clarified a bunch of things.
Welcome to the War Thunder crowd. :) Just ask if you have any questions.
Thank you for the guide just started today!
:) Have fun!
TY!!
awesome vid. well rounded. great commentary. loved it.
Thanks! :) I put a lot of effort into my tutorials to make them as enjoyable to watch as possible. Nice to see it appreciated.
Great information and well put, I just can't make it out of 1.3 BR and that's sad, I love getting one shot from .75 km through 4-5 trees while I speed towards the objective while at an angle, think this is finally it for me
Try to stay behind the pack and slowly scout out enemy positions. Shoot the guys speeding at the objective ;)
I've tried a few different methods including this over the past few matches, unless I'm behind hard cover and basically flanking nothing, I just get shot by people who's names have just appeared on screen, I have alot higher chances at close range but it's still 50/50, I can critical hit someones gun only only for them to one shot me while I reload, because having taken out the gun, I assume myself safe from the one person until my next shot, it's just incredibly tedious to have not even made it to br 2 yet (researched it but stayed back, as I still get stomped in br 1)
But thank you for responding so quickly, truely shows integrity in what you do
@@Alex-rn8vu Sounds exactly what happened to me as I started out long ago. :D You'll get the hang of it over time. :)
@@WatchMysh I dunno, how fruitful can it be at BR 5 if BR 1 is such a grind? But even if it's not for me, I really have to appreciate the game in itself, it is a great one
I just started playing, thanks for the video! Very informative
It is very player-dependent in how fast you learn. Took me good ebough time until I moved from arcade to Realistic and was able to aim from 57mm guns to 150mm guns up to 700-800m without rangefinding.
Good guide soon when I get good enough I will leak classified us tank data
Thanks. And lol!
@@bepu4847 yes, at least wait for sales. In the end all that counts is that you have fun.
Thanks bro I've been struggling
Man I loved tearing apart that premium f3f an flegalls bf109 oh and a remember flying a hurricane losing my wing and still flying
Play for fun
That's what the f in Gaijin & Warthunder stands for
Something that isn’t talked about enough for planes: you need to climb aggressively regardless of what plane you fly in RB and SB. Altitude gives you options and allows you to assist teammates. Think about winning and not just getting the kills/points. Focusing on points gets you killed and terminally frustrated.
I can’t take it anymore those pro player that comes to tier 3.0 destroy everything
Good vid. The Buddha line had me dying
I am a new player to war thunder. What frustrates me the most is that PC players absolutely dominate us console players.
It’s so sad how hard is to keep playing at higher tiers with the huge repair costs
You could be done with it before having maxed out the previous one for example.
as a new player i thought the navy battles were quite unique and fun to take part in.
Nice! Sadly I don't like them to this day. Tried again just a few days ago. Just doesn't click.
@@WatchMysh World of Warships is better but I like the crew call outs and more realistic smoke screens
I am brand new to the war thunder community and I needed a guide on how to play and this was very useful, thank you
You're welcome :)
Whelp, I _was_ gonna play: but that "repair" system has turned me off. I don't wanna have to wait hours or days for something to get repaired so I can play again. I'd rather just buy the game once and not deal with it, not feel like I'm playing Clash of Clans on PC.
0:18 ya as he is already T4 lol
Why did i watched this. I've been playing war thunder about 3 years
Lol
The dogfightin in this game is top tier iv played for about a week and its ridiculous how fun it is
Did anyone notice that this dude got a talisman for the flakpanzer I
Lol. I guess I got it as a random reward somehow. But anyways: the Flakpanzer I was a beast back in long gone days. Gotta revisit it soon-ish.
@@WatchMysh milk trucks takes its role now
@@99999bomb milk trucks?
@@WatchMysh the Russian low tier aa veichles, excluding the first one most of the rest have guns that are good for killing tanks
@@99999bomb aaaah ok that's what you mean.
I should try playing this again. I had only briefly played around 2014-2015 when my older brother introduced me to the game. Unfortunately, I stopped playing when he stopped playing with me.
So i downloaded a game that i will be forced to quit
Why?
This game was complicated as hell. Thanks for this guide
everyone says play to have fun, not to grind
but i want Tiger 2 because its so fun lookin thank😭😭
It's as fun as many other tanks. It has advantages and disadvantages. You'll see once you get it. ;) hf!
"or just rip them apart with your idiotic fire speed" ------ now you're talking my language.
Fun war thunder fact: uninstall it
Why???
no
No
No
No
I really needed to hear the "unlock to play, don't play to unlock." I don't think i understood that 😂
Blimey... all too much for me, I just want to have fun not a new profession!
This helped me a lot. Thank You!
and dont leak confidential documents😂😂😂
Lol that's the bonus tip
As a HOI IV player, I'm not surprised that you ignored the navy 💀☠️
I advise every new player to immediately uninstall the game before it's too late.

The game is grossly inaccurate and is a grind.
The grind actaully helps your crew be better such as keen sight (longer distance view) etc
So basically to get favorable results with a shot one has to have put in enough time other wise you will be just fodder.
@@WatchMysh Well put.
