    Oh I just love before and after photos! Telling us the zoning really helps too. I'm bummed I wasn't able to submit my photos in time for this video. I had a black thumb when I started watching your videos 5 years ago and now I have over 5,000 plants! I LOVE gardening now and it's all thanks to you and your videos. I now give advice to my beginner gardener friends and recommend your channel. I tell them, "My friends Laura and Aaron say to do it this way........" lol. How you must love having so many friends that you've never met. Sometimes I put you on the TV in the background while I do other things just because I like hearing your voice. When you come start out, "Hey guys!" I reply out "Heyyyyyy!". Thank you for putting out so many videos to keep us all entertained. I was in a medical center for six months last year getting treatment (for Late-Stage Lyme disease) and wasn't able to be out in my own garden, so I lived through you everyday. Thanks to the daily visits to your channel and my chats with God I was able to get through a rough time. Thanks again and God Bless you both!--- P.S. Aaron have you ever considered adding in some devotions or positive quotes to your gorgeous garden pics on IG? The pictures are lovely and a daily devotion would be a nice extra touch to start out the day.

      Lol I usually have a black thumb too! My flowers have been growing so well in my flower beds and I’m shocked! My dad put in a sprinkler system in the flower beds and I think helps a lot. Also the full sun flowers really grow great where we have ours. I love seeing our flowers bloom! And I also say Laura does this haha.

      This is a Garden Channel. You know what they say about Religion and Politics..

    • @Ibis333
      @Ibis333 2 года назад +7

      I was with you until you started talking about Laura & Aaron using their channel to push religion. It would not a very welcoming atmosphere to everyone who isn't religious or who isn't Christian. Maybe that didn't occur to you.

    • @tidbrits6848
      @tidbrits6848 2 года назад +4

      @@Ibis333 You are right it didn't occur to me because they are Christian and have mentioned it in a few of their videos so I figured those who follow them pretty much know that already and if they were offended by religion they probably wouldn't follow their channel. Aarons father is a Pastor. In general- not every video they put out is for everyone so I'm sure those who aren't Religious could just pass by that particular IG post if it didn't appeal to them. I wouldn't push anything on anyone. Devotions are positive and don't necessarily have to viewed as religious by everyone. I don't always like the person who says a good quote in a publication but I can still appreciate a good one when I hear it. But Thank you for your perspective. I do appreciate a different viewpoint. Take care.

      @@shaunah.creations9233 It's funny isn't it? To have someone that you enjoy daily that you sort of consider a friend yet she has no idea who you are lol. I joke with my husband sometimes and say, "I'm her biggest Stalker, I mean biggest Fan!" lol (wink, wink-nudge, nudge). Thanks for the reply. Are you on IG? I'd love to see your garden pics too.

    As a homeowner who was told by a landscape designer that my small side garden was "the most inhospitable space they had ever seen) I took it as a challenge. Yes it was sloped, narrow & full sun, but I created my own garden plan, amended the soil, added a drip system & now I have a beautiful garden which people enjoy as they pass my townhome. The only issue I've had is, my garden pagoda & solar lights were stolen. Unfortunately, pretty things can attract the dark. 😐 Thank you to everyone who shared their gardens with us, I completely understand your struggles & joy ☺️💗🍁🍃🌱🌼🌺

    My favorite gardening space at my house in Boise was the side yard on the east side of my house that ran south to north. It was 15 feet wide with my house on one side and arborvitae hedge between me and my neighbor. It got a varying amount of sun for 2 - 4 hours of late morning sun. I never had any plan. Just bought plants that I liked and fit them in. It ended up with hostas, bleeding heart, Japanese maple, coral bells, Russian sage, and filled in with annuals like coleus, sweet potato vines, and elephant ears.

      I also just got lavandula x intermedia in a 4 inch pot, would you still recommend Russian Sage or would I be better off propagating my Grosso Lavender? I don’t know how different the texture, size, and color is in person

    Laura, thank you so much for videos like this- pure inspiration! I am a mother of two babies under two, but am still determined to find time to landscape 💪🏼 and your videos are a huge source of inspiration and motivation. I stumbled across Garden Answer about a year ago and I have since shared you with my mom and sister and we are all ADDICTED! You have even inspired this year’s Christmas shopping. My dad gave my mom a set of augers for her gift 😂 and my mom gave my sister and I Felco pruners and paddle wire! Of course we followed your mom’s tips and used them to make wreaths from a magnolia tree that cracked in my mom’s yard during our last hurricane! You have given the 3 of us lots of joy and one more topic to discuss non stop. Thank you to you and your beautiful family 🙏

    Hi Laura and Aaron! It was fun seeing how people dealt with their skinny side yards. Kudos to all of the people who submitted the photos that you showed. I really loved the one with the succulents in the rain gutters! Thank you so much for sharing!

    Thank you for this video and all of the beautiful photos submitted from your viewers! It has finally given me the courage to tackle my side yard that spans the length of our driveway. It is only 5ft at its widest spot and 16 inches at its most narrow. I’ve got a coal chute and a few other obstacles to contend with, but I’m looking forward to the transformation that will compliment our historic home in town.

    This is awwwesome! So much inspiration...right now seems like all of my planting beds are in the before stage (and they're all narrow and mostly shade.) I've been overwhelmed with what plants to use. It's so nice to see such beautiful spaces, and to hear it took some people years of experimentation to get them where they are now. Thank you for putting this video together! I love seeing all of your wonderful projects and love seeing the inspired projects others have completed by watching your channel. Hopefully one day I can send in my before and after pictures!

    I’ve been wanting to do something with the side yard that holds my A/C unit. Have 2 volunteer trees, that I yearly have to cut way back. Will be weed whacking the weeds and putting ground cover soon. These gardens give me many ideas to mull over. Thank you all for sharing this, and of course to Laura for posting. 😁

    I live in California 9b zone. There isn't much difference from season to season compared to other parts of the country. No snow at all. Some rain. Mild winters with very hot summers. Thanks for the great ideas!

    I can’t wait to start my narrow side yard now. So so many ideas running through my head. I’m in zone 4b so will mostly be annuals. Bought the house in may of last year and it’s been so fun designing the spaces. My front yard is all garden and that is almost all done. The veggie garden was a higher priority to get done. Can’t wait for April/may so I can start gardening again.

    I appreciate the great content to help change a really tough gardening area into a really sweet coffee, tea or napping spot! The zone and plant information is SUPER helpful! Thank you for doing this video compilation, Laura; I am just so excited to create my own little secret garden!
