  • Hellooo there friends! This song was suggested by one of our friends on twitter! You can follow us there at middleagedcool if you'd like =)
I was surprised that Dave recognized Noddy from the picture, he is not very familiar with Slade at all, except for the songs I have listened to, which did not include this very early release.
Dave wonders what was happening in the recording studio that day!
Thanks for the great suggestion Benny!

I knew Dave would like this classic old Slade you should check out their first album Play It Loud still my favourite Slade album, same style as this track. Glad I recommended it. By the way the skinhead look was their manager Chas Chandlers idea (former Animals) didn't last long before the whole glam rock image started.

It's tempting to go with the suggestion of singles etc but I GUARANTEE you will love a song of Slades called 'She Did It To Me'. GUARANTEE 😉

Love this. I’ve really gotten into these guys and Sweet over the last couple of years. They always made the music fun. Thanks guys.

I saw Slade at the Capitol Theater here in Jersey in '73.... went with a bud, his GF and mine and they all were fans of Jackson Brown... I LOVED Slade (album Slade Alive was played obsessively) and of course went mental during the whole show.... needless to say, they were unimpressed.

beginning vocals/instruments reminded me of Led Zeppelin also felt like Tull a tiny bit. Here's an obscure one for Dave to sample from an early band feature Tommy Bolin of James Gang fame. It's the band, Zephyr and this tune is I'll be Right Here. Bluesy guitar licks and soulful vocals. ruclips.net/video/yy5Wzkz0WZ8/видео.html

Slade were always disliked by rock fans because they were always seen as a skinhead band and back in the seventies skinheads were feared by anyone with long hair .

I beg to differ, when they had the skinhead haircut skinheads wasn't the hard nuts like later skins, used to love a bit of Trojan reggae, all sorts of folk.
