    I was homeschooled from 8-12 and what I learned during those years wasn’t covered in high school until I was 17 and in my last year of high school. So going back to school was essentially ‘oh yeah, I remember this’ rather than learning anything new. When homeschooled I went to museums, galleries, sanctuaries and got an amazingly well rounded education. I’m now doing my Master’s degree.

    One of the things we have loved over the years is that as you say, their friendships are deeper and stronger. We definitely need time at home (to avoid burn out) but do loads of things outside of the home too. All of mine did get GCSEs but two initially got into college on a portfolio. So many options, so many ways, so many paths.

    Thank you for sharing. This was brilliant. I didn't know that children don't have to take GCSEs etc. We haven't been challenged with many of these questions yet, but when we face them, we shall be prepared.

    I was wondering if my kids would have much friends or would lack social skills.... But its an absolute myth... My kids are very bubbly... I'm so proud to teach my kids... RUclips helps quiet a bit with things I don't know... Going out around London city is something the kids love....

    Omg how can people say your lazy by homeschooling I've been crisis teaching my tiny humans due to covid and I have never written so much in my life. The they don't socialize 1 always makes me laugh because it is ridiculous as if you have a chatty tiny human they will at some point be told they are not at school to socialize 😂

      @@AdventureAllTheWay they are doing great I have not been following what the school is setting as that doesn't work for my tiny humans. My oldest (11) is dyslexic so I've been working on learning strategies with him and he's improved so much. My middle 1 is in year 2 but has always works 2 or 3 levels higher so it's a waste of time doing what the school sets as he's ADHD and needs to be constantly challenged or he's going to bounce off the walls lol. My youngest is 5 and has been the most challenging but I've ended up turning his learning into games as he's a hands on learner.
      My oldest and middle were having what they call a math race at 9.30 last night where they were seeing who could say their times tables fastest and the winner gets to choose the next times table. Lol
      I love letting them go with what sparks their interests

    My son is 11 and has asperger syndrome. All the changes between school and no school due to covid have affected him. I've noticed however that he's much more interested in learning and enthusiastic when he's @ home.
    He wants to be a doctor, would homeschool still be a good option for him with this career choice? I'm guessing we could do homeschool with him until after A levels when he would have to do a degree in a uni.
    Is there A level courses that can be done at home? many thanks:)

    • @AdventureAllTheWay
      @AdventureAllTheWay  3 года назад +1

      Hello! Thank you for your comment. Yes that is definitely still a possibility for him. That is exactly what would need to be done, home educate up to A levels and then a degree in medicine at a university.
      There are a few options for A levels;
      1 - oxbridgehomelearning.uk
      2 - www.openstudycollege.com
      3 - Buy the books and home school from them, using past papers to practise and then sit exams in a private exam centre when the time comes (covid permitting).
      Hope this helps,
      Emma x

    • @surreypoms
      @surreypoms 3 года назад

      you can teach them whatever you want, there is no specific guidelines for subject areas, it just needs to be an appropriate education for their age range

    Has the law changed? Can you expect visits from the council \child protection?Do they test the child?

    • @AdventureAllTheWay
      @AdventureAllTheWay  3 года назад +1

      Hi, there have been no law changes. You do not have to expect visits and can decline them from your local authority. It is not deemed as a child protection issue on it's own, so unless there are other concerns already existing, they should dismiss it. Nobody tests the child as when you de register their education is solely your responsibility. Hope this helps. Emma x

    Even if they didn't like to chat to people, that 's alright, they don't want to chat so what? I honestly do not know why us homeschooling parents feel the need to be responding to these myths and stereotypes. People have chosen to take their children to school and no one is asking them to explain that so why must we explain our decision to homeschool our children? I don't get it. We need to follow our convictions whatever they maybe and in our case, homeschool as that is what you have decided on. Get on with your life, do what you think is best for your children and let your work speak for itself. I do what suits me and my child with my mouth shut and only, I repeat I ONLY explain to people who are genuinely interested to understand homeschooling. With such videos we add on the skepticism around homeschooling, always defensive, because really why care what myths are making rounds out there?
    Anyway, that is just my opinion.

    • @AdventureAllTheWay
      @AdventureAllTheWay  3 года назад +1

      Hi. Thanks for your comment. I made a point to address the myths to help those who are thinking about home educating and who are new home educators who do not have the confidence that you do to ignore ignorant people who spout myths at them.
      Thanks for watching and I hope you have a very Happy New Year x

      @@AdventureAllTheWay please don't think I was being rude. I never know who to address my comments to so I wrote "her" thinking you wouldn't reply.
      Also I didn't know your children were disabled. I'm new to the whole home education world so I was surprised that GCSEs weren't a legal requirement

    • @AdventureAllTheWay
      @AdventureAllTheWay  2 года назад +1

      @@Whatsjonosaying I'm a small channel and it's just me. I always try to respond to comments. If they are able to they will do English and maths but will then go on to apprenticeships or something like that if they are able to to.
      GCSEs are not a legal requirement, the only legal requirement ATM is an education suitable for their age and ability whatever that may be. I have another video where I talk about Gcses.
      Sorry if I sounded abrupt, I have to be an advocate for my children and get many comments about them so my hackles go up fast! Emma xx
