  • Welcome to TGR's 2024 Safety Week! We invite you to join us for riveting content all week focused on how best to approach winter backcountry safety.
THE INFERNO: The best way to train for the real thing is to simulate the real thing as best as you can. That’s the philosophy behind the annual International Pro Rider Workshop (IPRW) Inferno. This simulated large-scale rescue scenario dreamt up by IPRW instructors that involves forcing athletes and crew to put their entire bag of skills to the test.

As an avid Backcountry skier and type 1 diabetic, I love that you throw a curveball in there! Todays diabetes technology makes backcountry possible for me and allows me to see my blood sugar on my phone every 5 min. However, in a chaotic situation I might forgot to check my blood sugar, especially if I’m not paying attention to my own body in a rescue situation! Great work everyone! 🤙
