Messiaen - Turangalîla-Symphonie (Rattle / LSO)

Olivier Messiaen's strangely enticing Turangalila symphony, brilliantly performed by the London Symphony Orchestra and its music director Sir Simon Rattle, alongside Peter Donohoe (piano) and Cynthia Millar (ondes Martenot), during the 2023 edition of the George Enescu Festival in Bucharest.

Such a magnificent work. Especially good to see Peter Donohoe play the outrageously difficult piano part with such bravura. Cynthia Millar, as always, is the expert on the ondes Martenot part. Feel the final chord needs to go on a bit longer. Strange camera work at the end - why the long shot? Why not show us the soloists / conductor taking their well earned applause?

It's just great to see that Peter Donohoe can still play such difficult stuff.... There is an excellent recording of "Turangalîla" from 1986 with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Simon Rattle as conductor and P. Donohoe as pianist. The Ondes M. was then played by Tristan Murail.

Mulțumesc, dnltz! Un concert minunat! Mă întreb de ce oare operatorii de imagine(cei mai lăudați operatori de către TVR Cultural) n-or fi filmând și ce se petrece pe scenă în timpul aplauzelor? Am urmărit concertul ăsta minunat și la TV pe 30 sau 31 august când a avut loc. La tv au întrerupt transmisia chiar înainte ca Sir Simon Rattle să pună jos bagheta. Pentru că și-au imaginat că toți spectatorii acestui superb și rar moment muzical tremură de nerăbdare să urmărească jurnalul cultural. Plin de știri inepte. Oamenii ăștia mai au multe de învățat despre transmisiile live ale unui concert. Măcar de-ar observa că pe la Mezzo, pe ARTE se procedează altfel.
