considering they are jacking up prices for everything and what they charge for HDD and now ne prosumer level Hardware/Software they are in fact abandoning all the home and small business users to go after that enterprise money this is very clear and this guy is stupid to say otherwise.

I use them at home and work, I have the opposite thoughts that they aren’t enterprise enough to use for most people. I don’t have an issue using them but most of my peers see them as only for home and smb storage. They would never think of putting them in an enterprise environment and their reasoning is that support isn’t there yet they all want on-site repair/replacement not cross ship. I’d pay for better support contracts for hardware and software support.
Their software isn’t able to scale to some of the sizes I need, it starts acting funny after 1pb.
If you want to talk large scale storage I am on his forum.

Their larger units have next day replacement - I've had to use it and it's worked out well. Typically for something like that we design in HA. Synology and QNAP are living more places that you know.

My largest gripe is the exorbitant cost they are charging for hard drives. I would be OK with a 50% markup. But 100% it’s tough to swallow. This alone has caused me to start looking hard at other solutions. For my small business, the price of the NAS is a huge cost already.

I don't think anyone would deny a company it's need to grow their business.
However, when you have a major announcement... There yearly announcement?? With nothing on the software/product side for prosumer, SMB. Then you question their focus.
The drive for enterprise is sucking up all the oxygen in the room. That leaves a gap to be exploited and let's be honest hardware at the lower end hasn't been a strong point for years, for Synology.
You never know, they may have a September launch for the rest of their software/hardware devices.

maybe they will release a rack mounted router and POE access points like I begged them for a few years ago. This will serve many of their user groups. I love their router GUI, but want POE APs

I'm happy they (Synology) are breaking into the enterprise space, however, at the same time, do they really need 50 (exaggerating) different products for the home and SMBs? No, IMO. If Ugreen ran DSM, it would destroy Synology's NAS offerings (rumor has it Ugreen is working on a rack NAS) and I can see someone porting DSM over to use on Ugreen and any other NAS devices because DSM is far superior to other OSs. On the flip side, other NAS company's devices are superior to MOST of Synologys and in many cases at a cheaper cost.

Are people afraid they are going to lose the top tier support for products? lol. If I were them, I'd be going to go eat more of Cisco's lunch as well. Do they still make wifi access points with a self hosted controller? Yes? Well, then they haven't changed anything as far as the home user clients are concerned and I've never seen or put anything other than their l2 switches and camera systems into businesses. To be blunt their routers and l3 switches have not been anything competitive vs. what you really want in those spots historically anyway. Don't give a hoot about anything else they make. I don't understand the deal with the camera storage. If you are serious about your security setup, you have your on site NVR and then the storage is offsite and redundant. Most SMB won't have a secondary location and anyone larger will probably want something like Axis anyway. Or be legally required to have something like Axis that won't run afoul of any import/foreign bans.
