The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

This is the only total live version I have seen. Perfect!
Sorry to tell you, not totally live (the immobile tambourine cranking out a great sound is the giveaway) - there are however other live versions online - the 1965 NME Pollwinners concert comes to mind. Great group who made some fantastic records in the 60's!
@@Borella309 Sounds like some instruments from the Ed Sullivan orchestra are not on camera. Live vocals, guitar, and bass. Not the studio recording is what I meant.
It's not live Buddy
@@LarsRyeJeppesen It sure is live vocals and instruments. Not same as studio recording.
Judith possibly had the most beautiful voice of all time
Karen Carpenter.
Now it's been just over a year since the death of that wonderful singer who was Judith Durham, soul of The Seekers. Rest in peace. Without a doubt, they were one of the best bands of the 60s and deserve to be included in the places of honor in the history of folk pop. It is difficult to understand how it was possible that they had so little presence in the Show.
She had a wonderful unique voice.
One of the finest folk/pop groups of the 60s and one of the finest recordings acts ever from Australia. Judith Durham required emergency surgery the following month after this appearance, but you couldn't tell as she looked and sounded absolutely amazing.

Written by Tom Springfield, Dusty Springfield's brother.
This will be the decade we will lose alot of 1960's singers.
I never thought I'd see this again. The Seekers were an early favorite of mine. "I'll Never Find Another You" was one of the first I bought with my own hard-earned cash. Then this one. Judith Durham was a unique singer.
Judith ❤️
They were just perfect!
Beautiful Judith 🌹
One word: sublime
A fantastic post! The Seekers, one of the greatest groups of all time, made only two appearances on the Sullivan show. Here we see them singing their second hit record, the unforgettable "A World of Our Own". Written by Tom Springfield, their single charted at 3 on the UK singles chart, 2 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart and 19 on the Hot 100 (should have gone much higher). The group members are Judith Durham, Athol Guy, Keith Potger and Bruce Woodley. This is quality music! Thank you for the video! They also sang the gospel song, "You Can Tell the World" on this episode.
RIP Judith
Very Nice Song ,Wonderful Voice's !!!!
Voice's what?
Wow, what an incredible performance! ❤
Their music reflected the times, modesty, politeness, and courtesy
Great!
Wonderfull......
Arguably the best folk group from the 60s.
Great hits, wonder harmonies & a sublime lead singer.
This song is excellent , we can dream
Boa noite🎉🎉🎉👏👏
Music made by normal people. We need more normal people on society.
Pray 🙏
😍
Yeah, I know, on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 is the highest. Still, I'll go ahead and rate this one a 12. The harmony is absolutely pleasing.
You talk about nervousness. Can you imagine being up there on a live show in front of an American audience for the 1st time? They did a great job!
Wonderful song! Amazing group. Thank you for sharing.
*MÚSICA PERFEITA*
Absolutely beautiful. Great harmonies.
The beautiful, natural, God Given sound of human voices sung in close harmony. When you hear this, you can tell what's not real(autotuned) today.
I always loved this song.
I do like their song, "I will never find another you." This one was a good one too but never heard it
Fantastic. Just love love love them.
Love them so much! ❤❤❤
Was Judith Durham a complete and total babe or what??? If I had been 22 instead of just 2 when they performed this song on Ed I would have bought a one way ticket to Australia. Judith had such a distinct voice and style all her own like Dusty Springfield or Shirley Bassey Barbra Streisand. Judith’s version of Danny Boy would make even the most cynical person tear up. Judith forever loved and remembered and missed terribly by all her fans. Hello Fremantle!!!!!!
l love that my band l have lt my cd new song
I remember thier hit, Georgy Girl was used for a few American commercials background music.
I didn't know until much later ( even though a DJ, etc, probably mentioned the group was Australian !
I was 3 when the movie came out and for awhile there the song was inescapable. I did always like it and Judith Durham had a terrific voice.
I believe this is one of the oldest actual performances of the Seekers that exists on video. This and the NME Concert from 1965.
Bellísimos recuerdos..👍
Simply timeless!
Perfect
💜🥰
wonder why the Easybeats from Australia were never on Sullivan. They had a top 10 hit Friday on My Mind in the USA plus they were the number one beat group down under.
very good question 🔭🦘
Bad management.
@@GlennWheatcroft that was my guess too. probably didnt have a connection to the sullivan group
Yep. Bad management plagued their career.@@recordguy4321

Why is she even holding the tamborine?😂
wow that’s your takeaway? from such an awesome song…. The answer is that the performance is mimed . not a live performance.. there’s a tambourine in the original recording. lot of acts mimed performances on television.. most of them.
@jesusislukeskywalker4294 The instrumental is pretaped but wasn't the vocal live?
It's the stroboscopic effect. She's actually shaking it, but so fast that it appears to be standing still.
@jesusislukeskywalker4294 lighten up! I agree that it is an awesome song AND performance but she still didn't need the tambourine.
she used the tambourine in the next song performance "You can tell the World" a follow on from the 1st song. Check it out on youtube, wearing the same dress etc.
Isn’t that Clark Kent (Superman) playing the stand up bass?
She brings the tamborine, but she doesn’t play it.. 😉
She used it during the next song..
Geezer with glasses looks like a serial killer 😐
Zodiac lol?
Muy buenos
RIP Judith
