The only gripe I have (it's just kind of a nitpick) is that the title kind of gives away the surprise. Hearing the siren early on only to realize that the monster itself is making the sound is a cool (and horrifying) reveal, imo.
I didn’t say the name of the creature was bad; I said using it as the title was a giveaway. The creature in Alien is called a Xenomorph. The creature in Predator is called a Yajuta. Both the titles are accurate representations of the film without venturing into spoiler territory. Calling the game Siren Head is like calling Silent Hill “Pyramid Head”; it’s attention-grabbing, but it immediately gives away the reveal about the monster, which otherwise might have been quite shocking since one could wrongly assume the sirens were just background noise. Learning that they’re actually connected to the monster would make for a nasty surprise and, in my opinion, a better learning experience.

The siren that plays when you find the packpack had me a lot more terrified than with the actual siren. I thought the game would be you hiking with the siren on at all times, without knowing exactly when was sirenhead going to appear. Now THAT would be terrifying to play.
Nah man it was all scary, the siren was just disturbingly and agonazingly creepy. I was actually dumbfounded this game evwr existed at all. Much less in PS1.

I have a Siren "phobia?" "trigger"? I have audio sensitivity Autism so any loud (or sudden) unnerving noise really makes me freak and this is one of the things I hate most. both the weather alarm broadcast (even if it's just a test) and, living in the south, the tornado sirens literally make me break out into a cold sweat and make me want to ball myself up into a corner. Really any monotone, unnatural sounding thing like them will make me HORRIFICALLY uncomfortable and frightened. Throughout my life, I also had nightmares with sirens. This is my actual fucking mega nightmare. But I also really love creepy shit. Thank you, this is rad.

honestly they are horrifying to me. almost all of these you can't avoid you're just straight up gonna die unless you're lucky. the tornado one you can survive but air raid and nuclear ones it's just over for you unless the air raiders are stupid. for the nuke one, it's the sound of inevitable death.

Why is this scarier than most modern horror games? Answer: the atmosphere If the atmosphere were realistic, we would be used to it, and therefore not as clueless or shocked. Plus, the sound effects are absolutely terrifying and naturally cause anxiety in most viewers.
This would be a fantastic monster in SCP, like the idea of a tall monster which lingers in a tall tree forest, making it hard to see but only hear is creepy as hell.

I remember first seeing Siren Head on slimyswampghost's page, it was chilling and yet there was that tug of mystery that made you want to know more. All of his work gives you a taste of the story behind them, and you just have to know more. This is badass, well done!
I remember once when I was about 7 I had no idea what the emergency alert system was, so one day when my dad and siblings were outside I had the radio on and the emergency alert test came on and, not knowing was it was, it scared the shit out of me. Like imagine you're chilling listening to some music then suddenly a loud noise plays and a wierd voice speaks over the radio. I didn't pay attention to what the voice said, I covered my ears and ran. I still think about it to this day and the pure terror it instilled in me. Anyway I shit myself while watching this so thanks for that.

Absolutely. I think it's because lower graphics leave so much more to the imagination. The best way to inspire dread in a person isn't by creating a gruesome monster but a terrifyingly ambiguous one.

I feel like this game reverses the usual horror game style (quiet monsters) and makes you develop paranoia whenever you hear siren sounds so while your distracted and stressed when you hear the sounds he is just walking right towards you
Pyramid motherfucker's noises are really not as scary as the Sirens. Usually sirens going off indicates that danger is near, thus creating a sense of fear or stress. Pyramid is a bit "GET AWAY FROM ME PYRAMID MF" I will admit, but the sirens can't be beat.
That video of the Chicago tornado siren which sounds really disorienting because that way it can be heard from longer distances really reminded me of this oldie. It just makes me wonder: how does this thing provoke more fear in me than any other monster I've seen in a game? It's an impressive monster to say the least. The game itself doesn't look licensed, so I'd love to see a remake made some day with modern day's technology.

I think part of what makes it so frightening is how novel this monster is. Most horror game monsters are silent and unpredictable, but this guy is loudly broadcasting its presence for all to hear. Good game design could take advantage of this to make some unique mechanics. Additionally, this creature preys on how we perceive technology: as distinctly inhuman. The audio it plays are messages from automated warning systems. These have a strange, unnatural quality about them. It also plays sirens and warning beeps, which are designed to be dissonant and somewhat unnerving, as well as being associated with danger and death. Tornado sirens, severe weather warnings, amber alerts, these are all subconsciously linked with these sounds, as well as the threats they warn of. It's a really effective design, and works very well to fill you with a sense of fear and impending doom.
That warning noise always scared me idk whether theres an official phobia for that sound but it once played when i was sleeping while i was sleeping in america. Idk how u live with that noise potentially playing in ur pocket

I have a Siren "phobia?" "trigger"? I have audio sensitivity Autism so any loud (or sudden) unnerving noise really makes me freak and this is one of the things I hate most. both the weather alarm broadcast (even if it's just a test) and, living in the south, the tornado sirens literally make me break out into a cold sweat and make me want to ball myself up into a corner. Really any monotone, unnatural sounding thing like them will make me HORRIFICALLY uncomfortable and frightened. Throughout my life, I also had nightmares with sirens. This is my actual fucking mega nightmare. But I also really love creepy shit. Thank you, this is rad.

honestly they are horrifying to me. almost all of these you can't avoid you're just straight up gonna die unless you're lucky. the tornado one you can survive but air raid and nuclear ones it's just over for you unless the air raiders are stupid. for the nuke one, it's the sound of inevitable death.

If the atmosphere were realistic, we would be used to it, and therefore not as clueless or shocked. Plus, the sound effects are absolutely terrifying and naturally cause anxiety in most viewers.

I remember first seeing Siren Head on slimyswampghost's page, it was chilling and yet there was that tug of mystery that made you want to know more. All of his work gives you a taste of the story behind them, and you just have to know more. This is badass, well done!
I remember once when I was about 7 I had no idea what the emergency alert system was, so one day when my dad and siblings were outside I had the radio on and the emergency alert test came on and, not knowing was it was, it scared the shit out of me. Like imagine you're chilling listening to some music then suddenly a loud noise plays and a wierd voice speaks over the radio. I didn't pay attention to what the voice said, I covered my ears and ran. I still think about it to this day and the pure terror it instilled in me. Anyway I shit myself while watching this so thanks for that.

I think part of what makes it so frightening is how novel this monster is. Most horror game monsters are silent and unpredictable, but this guy is loudly broadcasting its presence for all to hear. Good game design could take advantage of this to make some unique mechanics. Additionally, this creature preys on how we perceive technology: as distinctly inhuman. The audio it plays are messages from automated warning systems. These have a strange, unnatural quality about them. It also plays sirens and warning beeps, which are designed to be dissonant and somewhat unnerving, as well as being associated with danger and death. Tornado sirens, severe weather warnings, amber alerts, these are all subconsciously linked with these sounds, as well as the threats they warn of. It's a really effective design, and works very well to fill you with a sense of fear and impending doom.
Criminal Gaming I think its creepier how old it is, the game looks way better on the poor graphics and make’s it way more unnerving to the eyes
