    What I love about this is towards the end of Wayne's instruction he suddenly seems to get really enthused because he can see a new painting happening, and he wants to work on it.

    Beautiful! But a bit quiet - now Rebelle just needs to add the option of correctly scratchy `brush on substrate' sounds - Thank you for the presentation!!

    wow Rebelle 5 is THE Bob Ross app! That mixing is beyond other software. Hopefully procreate, photoshop and the rest will be updated for this amazing tech eventually.

    I think it would be a cool feature if when you activated the pigments the color wheel would change to an ryb color wheel so instead of yellow being on the opposite side of the color wheel it would orange etc.

    Can you help clarify what you mean by worlds first? Artrage has been allowing this kind of color blending for a couple years now. Rebelle does it better, but I am not sure what is world's first.

      @@EscapeMotions I've read the whitepaper on Secret Weapons' Mixbox, the color blending model behind Rebelle's 'Pigment' feature, and I feel like calling this 'realistic color mixing' Is somewhat deceptive. Specifically, Rebelle offers a palette of colors with the names of wide array of real pigments, suggesting they will mix as ALL those pigments do. But Mixbox saves RGB values to the canvas, and during mixing, translates them into a blend of only 4 real world pigments:
      Phthalo Blue, Quinacridone Magenta, Hansa Yellow, and Titanium
      White, and blends them using the Kubelka Munk equations . This does result in nicely saturated secondary colors, when that's what you're going for. But there are serious unrealistic results in other situations- when you select an earthtone like burnt sienna, and attempt to dilute it with water or white/light tints, you rapidly find the hue shifting unnaturally toward magenta- that's because Mixbox isn't actually using the color absorption/reflectance spectrum of burnt sienna, it's treating that color as a blend of its own primaries, and quinocridone magenta is a significant part of it. I also wonder if limited bit depth is distorting the blend. At 8bits/256 'steps' per color channel in RGB, there isn't that much precison for colors on the canvas. This becomes especially problematic for blending accurate hues for dark (low value) colors- if you've got full value red, R255 G000 B000 and you want to get just a little more yellow, you can just go to R255 G001 B000, and the hue only moves slightly- there are 256 'steps' between full red and full yellow. But if you have a deep saturated burgundy, R010 G000 B000, adding a single step in the green channel changes the hue much more- there are only 10 steps between R010 G000 B000 and R010 G010 B000. When blending, you'll be translating the colors back and forth between RGB space and 'mixbox space' multiple times, which might also compound that imprecision.

    Many of us like to print our results, and of course, RGB printed digital pictures look nothing like the original screen pictures. I'm sure I can find out when I paint something with pigments (I'm not exactly prolific though ;) ), but are you able to confirm if they will be closer to the intended colours when printed? I love Rebelle 5 BTW, but would love to see the availability of a CMYK colour profile for this purpose.

    even wwider range at least watercolour is with magenta,cyan,yellow i think applies also with oil/acryl paint and i bet also in rebelle primaries are not blue,red,yellow even they are tradinational ones but tradinational is not science. saddly program pigment range is limited. and cannot import my own colour swatches for pigments mode if i have colour values for virtual pastels what i developed normal mode they dont work expectable way in pigments mode. and making them again is impossible becouse they are hand picked real scans/photographs.

      There's no primary colors in science, each combination of 3 colors can create a limited color space, the programs are using much more than that.
