I know it's been a while since this video was made, but just wanted to let you know you're an excellent teacher. If you're not designing rockets professionally, I hope you're still teaching.

Excellent and skilled presentation! Very informative for a HAM radio satellite operator like me, and for many others interested in this subject. Keep up the good work Tom!

Thank you this is great. I have always craved for this. Great teaching, the way this teacher breaks it down reminds me of Feyman

i'm here because of Kerbal Space Program. great game. educational, inspirational and entertaining game. NASA should fund it.

I first watched one of your videos on limit definition when I was in calc 1. Funny to run into you again a couple years later in orbital Mechanics.

I'm here for help in Kerbal Space Program. Helped a lot. Easy to understand. Thanks so much. : )

It's nice to know there is someone else interested in rocket science who is not a total nerd/mouth breather

I Believe that this is the guy that Andy Weir was talking about on his interview with Adam Savage, there's a lot of stuff about rocket science here. Awesome channel.

wish you had talked about polar orbits a little more; very interesting and it allows you to cover all of the Earth's surface.

@PigsCanFly99 Hi PCF, Do you know of any place on the web I can research the (earths in particular) orbits "mean" speed? ie: layman equation resulting in the mean approximate speed of 67k MPH -all year round...rather, how fast are we going today, each day, sort of thing. Is there a calender with our "daily speed" on it for each day of the year? or is the earths spun time zone, not recognizable by its revolutionary time zone, which is presumably dictated by its alternate dimension? thx

That is why I did not want to go to Mars. Because I did not want to be locked in a capsule for six month hearing this kind of jokes.

Gravity is a spinning field. Classical Newtonian mechanics only allow for things to fall.

15:14 The point where it's closest is called Apoapsis....
NO it's not... It's called Periapsis.
Apoapsis is where it is FURTHEST away.
16:25 You caught your own mistake, good.
I posted above during first time watching.

Russia launch most missions from baikonur, it was built un USSR first sattelite and first man in space were launced from there, Russia still use baiknur nowdays and pays Kazakhstan money for using it, anyway Kazahstan dont have any space agency it just dont need it.

Baikonur is in Kazakhstan. Star City is in North West Russia.

Tethering is bogus .. whole centripetal acceleration concept is unescessary. It's all about energy levels and gravity wells. How to raise and lower your orbit. Don't mention tethers and orbits in the same breath - please and thank you.

    • @thomaswijgerse723
      @thomaswijgerse723 5 лет назад

Its a valid analogy, and without a centripital force orbits would exist.
      Ps, sorry i responded late.

IDK, man you deviated from stereotype geeks who speak about these things.
