- Pt 1 of EW&F (of 3 prts) being interviewed for a program called "Profiles In Rock" in 1981. Maurice,Verdine & Larry talk about the roles in EW&F. (sorry for the pic quality in some places)
Nice to hear the guys talk about EW&F. Thanks for the posting!
Great interview.....Necessary for my development.....Thanks.....
Makes me think of dancing in the disco all night long. They were really amazing!
I like an expression of an interview of Maurice very much very cool
They are regarded as the greatest band by many. Legends of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. All one has to do is google their name and they will get the entire history of the band. R.I.P Don Myrick, Satterfield and Bautista.
Maurice is the man! Verdine doesn't get old!
Greatest band of all time!
Glad to see R.Bautista's return on guitar duties -a precise Rhythm genius and definitely a strong soloist. They just needed Ronnie Laws back on sax and the 1972 nucleus of E,W &F is back.
He was 18 when he came into the band. Larry is currently 59.
It was good seeing Roland Bautista was back with the group from 1981 to 1983,after his 1973 departure;he's just the best guitarist in Earth,Wind & Fire !! Beats Al McKay and Johnny Graham...!!...
I think along with the group Alabama, that EW&F should have got group of the century to...
Larry Dunn
He was called up in i think 1971 or 1972, to join the band because EWF was looking for a keyboard play after Ramsey Lewis split. So Philip Bailey called Larry up because both were classmates and ALSO with Andrew Woolfolk, so Bailey called up Dunn and Dunn came for an audition. So Larry sat by ear and learned every song off the first 2 EWF albums, and when he went up, without a shadow of a doubt, he was rad picked out. LARRY IS A MONSTER lol
Don Myrick and Louis Saterfiled passed away before him.
@potrezaml I disagree whole-heartedly. They ALL made a great contribution to the E,W & F sound. No one was better than the other, as they were all a part of making history! (stupid ass youtube wouldnt let me reply to his comment!)
Really...?? And how RUclips won't let you do that ...? I wonder ! Anyways, I got to agree with you about this...the two others were very good as well, with their own, different styles ! May Roland Bautista rest in peace, by the way (passed away just in 2012, at about age 60 or so...he is the first and only one of Earth,Wind & Fire members to have died, so far...)
I'm going to be a bit too "picky" perhaps; but Myrick and Satterfield were not really members of Earth,Wind & Fire as such; they were what was called the "horn section" of the group, and were even indicated as such on the vinyls' inner sleeves/back covers...I would even add that they were no longer mentionned from the "Powerlight" album...For Roland Baustista, it's different, but it's like he was not really considered by the group (they didn't even pay a tribute to him ) Just my own view...
What great musicians and intellects now its all duh, duh. duh, dawwg, dawwg, dawwg.
Where did it all go wrong?
gg
I pray to God that he turns from spiritualism to A more God fearing religion. He is the man, and it makes me smile to see him as an older man who made great music, that's why i hope that he chooses a better path than spirituality.
