These guys are reading it all wrong...
Klopp's forté was man-management, was able to keep Trent shielded from the criticism and focused on his job on the field...
Slot is Trent's opportunity to reach new heights because their relationship is only just beginning with Trent as an already proven winner and Slot bringing in new ideas and a new approach to team improvement..

With Klopp, he always tried to protect him, particularly with Henderson and the way the midfield was setup when it was at its peak, the problem was more the last 2-3 years where that midfield was no longer up to scratch, and changes made to the midfield exposed Trent more. To protect him again, Klopp pushed him more inverted into midfield. I'm sure the coaching staff did work with him, but their answer was more to try protect him or reduce that responsibility. Now, even if he comments at him in dressing room or press, all Know, its because "Arnold asked Slot to do so" What is unprecedented, is Player telling Manager that how he should treat him & Instead of keeping the conversation secret, he let the world know.

Klopp did overprotect Trent, which made Trent to put less and less effort on the defense.
Why do you need someone calling you out when you see someone goes past you and you just watch? What can anyone say.. The amount of times the opposition created chances and scored not just because they went around Trent like a cone, but because they could play the ball inside after Matip or Konate stopped the progress of the winger and their player was free because Trent didn't try to recover, is enough for anyone to stop and call themselves out.

"Oh, now you can defend." yes lads he cemented his place in defence, at one of the top sides in the world by being incapable of defending. He had a season or 2 when he struggled because he couldn't be arsed and had his sights set on becoming a cm, but this narrative of never being able to defend needs to die. When he replaced Clyne, he wasn't racking up assists and was a competent defender. Unsure when left sided, cb VVD was covering for him, either. But go on with your sensationalist nonsense.

@cjewe1z The reporter was telling Trent how Slot was complimenting him on his defending against both Milan, when he kept Rafael Leao quiet, and Bournemouth. Then Trent complemented him back by saying he believes he’s benefiting from the Dutch coach’s attention to detail as they sit together to analyse his defending. He even pointed it out that they went through 20 clips of him in the Milan game where he could have defended better.
What I took from that, Klopp didn't focus on his weaknesses like Slot is doing, that's all.
So I don't understand what these pundits are on about 😅

@@sirvirgil6049 A top player should be intelligent enough to realise that he's making mistakes in every game or not making the effort he should. If I was Alexander-Arnold The Great, I would have taken steps to improve my defending by either busting a gut to stop my opponent or hiring a defensive coach. I question why he's made it publics now, that his contract is expiring. Did he not want to be a better defender the last two to three years that he's been making mistakes in every game?

@cjewe1z for me, it's really weird that you think he didn't take his defending seriously.
Ever since he made his debut for us, the midea and pundits have always questioned his defending and rightly so.
The last few games we have seen that his defending has improved with the new manager, it might be the new system or Slot has just been honest with him on these one on one meetings they are having.
