Firstly, just search for TheGigRig G3 App at the iOS App Store or click the link in the description. It’s a free app, and will work on any iPhones and iPads.
Software update
1. So lets look at updating our software. The first thing you want to do after you’ve downloaded the app is check your software version. Head to the GLOBAL menu, then VERSION, you’ll see what version of software you’re using
2. Now head to TheGigRig.com on your phone and navigate to the G3 support page. There you’ll find the info on the latest software update. If the update version on the website is a higher number, then it means it’s time to update your software. It won’t mess with any presets you’ve created, but on certain things like tap tempo etc you mate need to start those again.
3. Tap on the link on the site and you’ll download the sysex file on your phone.
4. Open the download tab, and click on the sysex file to open it in the G3 app
5. Ok, we’re now ready to do the update
6. Head to the Bluetooth setting in globals
7. Now head to update, and press 4
8. This will turn on the Bluetooth in G3
9. Now open up the app
10. Head to connect. You’ll see your unit in the Bluetooth list, select it.
11. Once it’s connected press dismiss in the bottom right hand corner

14. You’ll see firmware files, scroll to the firmware you want to install

The app will now send the software update to your G3. At the end of the process you’ll need to check that the checksum matches and you’ve received the correct number of packets. If either of these is off, you’ll need to restart the process
Once you’ve confirmed you have the correct checksum and packets received you’ll need to cycle the power. And now youre good to go, you have the new software in your G3
Song List
G3 has 2 separate modes, Bank mode which displays just the bank number, or Song mode which replaces the bank number with for a song name.
1. Open the app and create a song list. Remember that each song will correspond to a bank number
2. Once you’ve created a songlist you can edit it within the app, change the song name, and even re=order your song list.
3. Once you’ve finished editing press done and you can save your songloist as a separate list. This is great for reordering songs in a setlist
4. Now where ready to transmit your songkist to G3
5. Head to Bluetooth and then Load Song List
6. This turns on the Bluetooth in G3 and is now waiting to receive you songlist

Best professional switchers on the market. This takes it over the top.
Cheers mate
Nice work TheGigRig!
Brilliant work by you and your team Dan. If I made my living with my tools, I'd be all over that.
But, Gawd! You know how to make a guy feel so 20th century
Cheers mate 🤓🙏
Absolutely genius. Definetly looking forward to switch to this system!
Thx xx 🙏
Guarantee I made it further through this video than Mick.
Is there a way to “backup your backup”? thinking in terms of getting it off the phone and saved somewhere else (Google Drive etc). Would also be cool to allow for exchanging of backups, set lists etc. obviously the pedals in the loops may differ wildly but could allow for a cool community of sharing and experimenting.!
Eagerly awaiting my G3 now ... looks killer!
One question: how do presets work in songlists? Do I have to make them from scratch for every song or can I trigger existing presets? It could be a bit repetitive to program the same six pedal stadium solo sound that is used in 16 songs all over again. I guess I also have stompbox capability in songlist mode?
Oh, most excellent! Android soon?
Yeah! 😍👍🏼
I love the bt connectivity! Setlist is great! It would be ace to be able to update more features etc, especially patch names :)
Hi Daniel, You can edit patch names on the app, and there’s a web editor on the way as well 🤓👍
@@TheGigRigDaniel oh wow! I might be completely blind but I can't see it on the G3 app? SORRY!... I've got to say though, the G3 ATOM is like a dream, and the other thing where my mind is blown is the power system - The weird hum from my Octavious has gone! It's a game changer!
@@TheGigRigDaniel UPDATE: I found it! Thanks :)
Android when?
Looking at it, but not for a while. PC updater option coming soon
This frimware 352.g3f works fine with G3 Atom? Im afraid to update the Atom one.
I thought it was going to allow midi setup for presets?
Not at this stage, all the midi stuff is easily accessible in G3
@@TheGigRigDaniel full control of the unit via bluetooth would be incredibly helpful even just to program it without getting down on the floor, causing back pain.
Any chance of getting an updated version of this with working links in the description?
Sure thing, working on it now
You guys are the best, seriously love you guys. @@TheGigRigDaniel
Any word on a Android version of the G3 App? I use a Samsung phone with my Windows PC. I love your G3 product, an absolute game changer for me using two amps with wet/dry and stereo effects.
Thanks Alan, working on the android app now. It will be in 2 parts. 1st will be the updater, then will be the full app.
@@TheGigRigDaniel Awesome! Can I update my G3 firmware without an iPhone?
@@TheGigRigDaniel Well done Dan, definitely need an Andriod version in the near future and a way of exporting the backup file for further security. I have several RJM products and they have great PC/MAC desktop editing and backup software. I definitely prefer the more intuitive way Gigrig stuff works though, well done.
@@TheGigRigDaniel still no full app for G3?
How to get presets that are programmed into the app When I start a song list in the app the list is empty, no names. While I have 40 banks with a song title in the G3....So how to determine what preset to name into what song in the app?
Hi Pat, in the latest software update the backup process creates a songlist that you can edit 👍
@@TheGigRigDaniel hallelujah! Thanks Dan, exactly what the doctor ordered! 👍
Is there a G3S or G3 app for Android. I don't use Apple software
Hi there, yes, you can use the web editor on Android 👍
are there any plans to port this to android devices? I down own any apple products but I would LOVE to use this app
We have an android updater app that we’re expanding on 👍
@@TheGigRigDaniel awesome, cheers dan :)
PARANOID! YES!!!
Jihaaaaaa
Android?
Not yet but we will have a pc updater option very soon
@@TheGigRigDaniel very cool especially since I gig with a Windows Surface for running my mixingboard!!!!!
but why is there a 6 month delay to receive? arrrgh. how can i pay 1400 usd for something i will receive when Jesus comes back? I weep bitterly.
Honestly this app is kind of shit. I bought this thinking I was going to be able to setup all of my presets and banks/songs and then just upload it to the unit and avoid the endless scrolling through menus to name all of my presets. Guess I should have watched every video known to god about it before buying this thing.
