Completely missed the very end of this..Until Now..so, who is your Co-Star? Just watched this again for the express purpose of catching the end! Ha! Loved it!Thx
So creative, some of my favorite flavors going on and I love when people who make the food taste it in the end!! Nice beet juice drip! :) Also what a cutie at very end! aww
Hi! Yes indeed. The brand is called "Presto" and the model is called "Slimline." I'm fairly happy with it overall, however my one complaint is that its heat cycles are very obvious. Like, instead of maintaining a constant temp, it fluctuates from too hot to too cool at times. But overall, it's decent value!
I love beets and I love Reubens. Thought I was the only one that likes a fork full of kraut raw. Ha! This one is added to my list. *Sigh* So much to cook and so little time. Question for you. Was your mortar always smooth or did it get smooth because of use?
haha I love a big spoonful of kraut! You're definitely not alone! My mortar and pestle was always smooth like that. I believe it was made in Thailand, I bought it in a little fruit & veg shop in Vancouver.
Looks great. I'm here in Western NC and there is a place that serves Smoked Trout Reubens. Thought it was strange but its excellent. I'm gonna try this for sure, But i'm gonna ROAST the beets.
Ooh a smoked trout Reuben sounds incredible! Yep roasting is always fun too. More concentrated flavour but less juicy! No problem though, just make up for it with olive oil, or more sauce!!
I'm not so fan of plant-based meats myself, even as a vegan, but I'm a big fan of beets. Which is what I was having for dinner and that inspired me to look for beet recipes on youtube. It's fun I'm eating kind of a beet reuben bowl at the moment. I'm looking forward to try your recipe, the spicing seems great. I'm gonna make some bread and use some vegan cheese. I have the same sauerkraut brand here, I understand your dilemma! Keep on the good work :)
WOW! My husband Eric and I have just discovered your videos and we are hooked. Your pleasant , sincere approach to cooking is so appreciated among some other RUclips content that is not..well..pleasant... or sincere. These are recipes we are actually going to make and enjoy together. Thanks for doing what you do so well.
I will Totally make this IF you provide a link on your site for an elec. grill. Just bought the ThermoPop! GOD Bless and thank you for making my Wednesdays so wonderful!
If I could find this in a diner I would be ecstatic, but first I would have to find a diner. That would be scrumptious, and I love beets. Really, I think putting the sauce on at the end is a better idea than the bread - it always soaks sauce up too much, in my humble eater person opinion.
1) A proper Reuben is made with corned beef, not pastrami. However, we all know that pastrami is always an upgrade from corned beef (sorry, Irish Americans). 2) While I’d go for some proper, thick cut, fatty Katz’s pastrami any day, those beets look way better than what passes for pastrami at bodegas and diners across this great land (sorry, Boar’s Head). In fact, I think that I’d enjoy them by themselves, as a mezze or panchan.
@@HowToMakeDinner I used mix of fennel and caraway. Tried the beets on a different sandwich (with poppy-sesame-white bean spread and pickles). They are divine. Must make them again - this time on Reuben.
Paula just found your channel. You’re my kind of girl! You eat sauerkraut from the jar!!! One of my favorite things to do. My husband likes sauerkraut, but not from the jar. He just shakes his head in disbelief. We love ❤️ Ruben sandwiches and since we’re plant base for 3 years, this is a wish come true. My husband and I love beets. Can’t wait to make it. Love your style. Thanks for all the hard work you put into your channel. Going to go check out your other videos.
Wahoo! I’m so glad to hear this Marilyn! Glad you found my little corner :) Sauerkraut out of the jar is certainly one of those little pleasures in life. I hope you enjoy the sandwiches!
Hey! I hope this one satisfies all your sandwich desires! Thanks for visiting!
really liked this video, and you have a perfect authentic and likeable presence when talking to the camera, which not everyone has
Thank you so much for saying that! It means a lot ☀️

Those sound A!mazing 😳😋 I know you’re not vegetarian but I love how veg forward you are.
Veg forward! YES I love that label. Yeah I find I enjoy meat more when I eat less of it (and save the money to put it towards buying better quality!)
@@HowToMakeDinner does have a nice ring to it!

@@HowToMakeDinner Great Tip...Olive Oil should do the trick...Thanks. Love You're Vids by the way...But i will always hate peas.
@@petmycat2720 I can live with that!
I would add garlic fried mushrooms and mozzarella

I think you're right! After I did it I thought, actually it's better this way! I can't wait to go on a road trip and stop at a diner again one day

And Montreal smoked meat is a whole other convo! (Also one that is often done badly) :) Thanks for your two cents!!
sauce stache
You missed meatless Monday, but, hey, I'll take the recipe and run with it.
Hahah I’m terrible for timing things like that!
Boil whole beets, cool, peel, and slice. Place the slices in a mixture of vinegar and sugar .. you will love the taste.
I can't wait to try this !
I can't wait to find out how it goes!
I like a channel with not a lot of BS... glad I found it!
Thank you Erik!
Love this recipe! So unique and I'm feeling very inspired. Thanks for sharing!
I love hearing that! Happy sandwiching!
Any suggestions on celery salts substitute? Maybe fennel seeds?
I’d say that would be lovely. Just add some regular salt too!

I am excited that really does look good
