Britain withdraws in 1974
Turkey: “hold on, this whole operation was your idea!”
It probably would have still been if Turkey hadn't invaded Cyprus
I love how it starts with Iraq leaving it immediately... great success!
I believe they left though due to independence from the UK.
@@GWfan you're right, I completely forgot 😂
nah, iraq was already independent, they left after a coup
@@ilhandiril5268 I edited the comment, I had phrased it differently before
Imagine having a "Baghdad Pact" without the country whose capital is Baghdad...
It's called the Baghdad pact and Iraq leaves early lol.
Imagine if Poland left the Warsaw Pact early but they just kept the name
in 1958 a coup end pro West monorchy and been replaced by military Republic led by General Qasem and the king and his male relatives brutally killed and even the crown prince and Maternal Uncle of king Faisal ii striped naked dead body dragged on steets and later Attached to a ropeand actually the monarchs in Iraq were hated because seen puppets of UK
I mean, if the pact is signed in a city, the country that owns it leaving does not change that
The Roman Empire, featuring an empire without the city of Rome from 747 CE onwards.
Ankara Pact maybe would work?
Damn, I’ve never heard about this attempt.
For a good reason most likely
@@garl7927Which is?
@@stormstaunch6692it failed
Why am I suddenly seeing CENTO everywhere now? I hadn't even heard of it until a few days ago and now I'm seeing it pop up everywhere I look
I think it is because of a recent plan to combine the navies of many gulf states
A proof that History-geography RUclipsrs are getting the ideas from each other.
A little explanation of WHY various states left would be nice. I assume most of African states left because they got Independence from British Empire.
Iraq left because of a republican revolution in 1958, Iran because of an islamist revolution in 1979, Britain is explained, Turkey and Pakistan left last when there was no point anymore, and everyone else was British colonies gaining independence.
@@advocatusdiaboli4861 Thank you for that info - it would have been nice to have it briefly alongside the map.
@@advocatusdiaboli4861 Pakistan left because they got no help in 2 wars against India in 1965 and 1971 and turkey have an problematic relationship with UK over Cyprus
I love the good old style of intro that you use.
I guess the UK was there because of its colonies? That explains why Sudan left so fast.
Imagine this turning into an economical alliance.
Could you do the history of oman
Oh man, that would be interesting!
that would be pretty interesting tbf
Yep, especially the big Muscat and Oman
Never heard of that!
"That escalated quickly"
Ohh that's what the question in the community tab was for
An interesting, alliance. A reminder of a now-dead geopolitical arrangement.
never knew this existed
Very interesting
Finely someone talk about Baghdad pact
I can't wait for the day you go crazy and add all your maps into a world map of everything.
itd just be black
Britain: Why don't we form our own NATO?
Everyone else: OUT!
Look what you’ve done Hulagu. This is now your true lasting legacy.
Well at least we tried
Interesting
I love how Iraq left immediately
infighting before insight 😊 thr Offendi Awards.
0:21 I like the minor details in the map, Pakistan acceded the nearly 5,000 sq km area of Shaksgam Valley to China in 1963 under the Sino-Pakistan Agreement 1963 because of course the territory was under the Qing Empire and then Republic of China from the very beginning.
You sure do like that don't you
Well, at least they tried...
I didn't even heard of it 😂😂😂total failure
Other countries were turkey and Pakistan
T was short😄
Imagine an parallel universe where the revolutions in Iraq and Iran never happened so the Baghdad Pact survived and expanded, but also revolutions break out in France and the US causing the dissolution of NATO. Totally unrealistic, but it's funny to think about.
France left NATO for the good part of the Cold War and it survived
Literally Kaiserreich
Lol
Iven Gr.Britain in pact, but not Iraq

It is like trying to make British commonwealth for the Muslim country.
As I know by now, there are 5 Muslim nations/ states in the British commonwealth currently, which are: Pakistan, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Singapore, Dar-Assalam Brunie sultanate.
