- This video expects that you have already modded your switch (there is a guide listed below for modding your Switch, for those who haven't already). To find out if it is moddable, go to ismyswitchpatched.com.
NOTE: The new beta that launched on April 2nd does not require Skyline to be downloaded separately. The zip you now want to extract to the base of the SD card is labeled "switch-package.zip" on the GitHub.

And after the extract the sd card of the computer and insert the sd on the switch, you can just put the game or you need to do the tegra rcm process before to play smash?

hi! just installed the mod and am loving it, but i’m not exactly sure how shield dropping works in this mod. does the axe method not work?
I’m not sure about other methods, but if you hold two shield buttons or shield + b you can drop just by pressing down since it locks you out of roll or spot dodge

Someone probably asked this question and I haven't seen it, but how do I go adding modded stages to the current HDR ? Is the Config part related somehow?
Stages are REALLY hard to mod inside HDR because almost every stage has a rework, so if you are planing to add a stage skin think again.
it requires ALOT of work to get it running.
if i dont load the mods via payload am i still at risk of getting banned playing vanilla online or would toggling them all off work too? sorry im new to this.

hey my dlc didn't load in. did i miss something? I'm using the hb emulator to run it. If I were to just try to run the mod without using a separate emulator, will I get the dlc?

So ive installed this on my PC via Ryujinx, the mod seems to work ( kind of) since i can wavedash and stuff but i cant open the mod menu? Also Ryujinx is telling me some texture cant be loaded but that might be related to the mod menu
In the newest version of HDR I cant find the E shop so I cant seem to update my new mods. Any help?
when i try to open smash after this it gives me an exclamation mark and it says an error has ocurred i cannot open even regular smash now, i unisntalled and installed it again, not working,tried with wi fi, not working (altho my switch is already banned long ago maybe is due to this?) is skyline is really included on that package? maybe i am missing that? help please.
Are you able to make it so this mod automatically unlocks all the characters? I am setting this up on a fresh switch with no save data, so I'm missing almost everyone :(
Better to just get save data that has all of it unlocked then

yes it replaces it with a 2 or 4 frame buffer instead of the huge one in base ult

This right here is where I think I'm having issues. When you go from your pc to your switch, did you launch the switch in RCM or not? If you did, what payload did you launch it with? I've been using hekate. Are you pressing anything while booting the game?
Every time I boot it up it crashes on the loading screen and I don't know why. All the videos I watch skip the actual launching of the switch so I have no idea if I'm even set up right before getting to the game select screen.

nvm i got it to work out. my switch wasnt connected to the internet so connecting it through wifi made it work

I'm gonna feel so dumb if I get home from work tonight and after 13 hours of messing with payloads and SD setups, that was the problem the whole time 😆
@@Kurayamiblack yeah idk. In the discord someone else had the same issue and they fixed it by removing the HDR plugin only but this seemed to work for me instead so maybe try both?

I turned Wi-fi on and the launcher worked just fine. I disabled all wireless connection because I was paranoid. I didn't know you actually needed it to even launch the mods. They really should mention that in the guides since it's apparently essential to functioning.

I’m sorry if i’ve missed it in the video, but can you still access and play vanilla smash with the mod installed on the sd card? or do you have to uninstall the mods to play vanilla smash again
I might be wrong but i'm pretty sure you just have to disable it in the mod manager that he shows
@@requiem_smt8975 i hope that’s the case, but i don’t know if he said that without them enabled, any game you try to play will crash the switch, that’s why i’m curious before i go ahead with it. worst case scenario i’ll get another 64gb sd card and copy all of my files off of my current sd card on it to have another copy of my stuff just in case if i want to play vanilla

What should one do of they want to use the training mod pack with Smash while also having access to HDR?
hey there! my smash crashes always on bootup after the HDR loading thingy appears. i started with a clean game since i even deinstalled smash completly from my switch and got everything set up again. any help? cant type in your discord server. many thanks in advance
Edit: to fix the issue Set your system to the Americans as a Region and your system language to english

Hey downloaded the mod and it runs smooth, is there a way that I can disable the mod and use my own skins for regular Smash Ultimate using my CFW. Or would I just have to straight up delete and reinstall HDR on my SD every time I want to switch between the 2
Delete libHDR.nro from the skyline plugins folder where arcropolis is and disable the mods in the eshop loader
I don’t know about CFW but I know holding L when launching Smash ultimate in the switch menu will load regular ultimate

@@Squish_Cat yeah you just put the mods in normally then figure out what conflicts. arcropolis gives a conflict file, so it's pretty useful
When the process is over and you put the sd card on the switch, you can play smash or you need to do the tegra rcm process? Because this tutorial doesn't tell you
If I go about installing this. Would my replay data be safe? Don't want to lose them, and I don't want to have to save them all as videos quite yet.
Yes, just don't load vanilla replays while HDR is enabled.
What happens if you don’t have all the DLC? Will it cause a conflict or will you just not have the characters? Does it automatically unlock the menu songs or is it still locked behind the single player campaign?
You just won't have all the characters. Menu songs would still be locked behind WoL.

There is a plugin you can run that automatically unlocks music, spirits, etc unrelated to HDR

for some reason when I play hdr on ryujinx (mac) everything seems to speed up

1. You should be putting mods in their own folder in the directory "/ultimate/mods" on the root of your SD Card. If that directory isn't there, create those folders and move your mods into individual folders there. Make sure the mods are enabled in the in-game mod manager by hitting the e-Shop button in the SSBU main menu.
2. Other simple mods (mostly skiins and music) are compatible with HDR, but be careful not to have the mods conflict. Arcopolis will show a message on SSBU startup if the mods you have installed conflict with HDR (most likely mods that modify stages/UI).

Hey so i had this all working on my switch and then I downloaded some mods, those worked and I had one more I wanted to download, the reimagined Mario mod/skin whatever you want to call it. I put it in there like usual and then I start up the game. The launcher loads just fine then I click play. It sits there for a sec then it says aborting. It kicks me out and it says check game for corruption. I check it says it’s clean and I click on the game again.
When I get into the launcher this time I click tools and verify files, it says they are all good so I exit that and click play… same thing happens and i check for corruption again.
Says it’s clean so I try again, and again, and again. Idk what to do now, though abt wiping the sd card and starting from scratch, it wouldn’t take as long because Ik what I’m doing now, but I’d prefer not to, any way I can’t fix it without having to wipe it?
Can I just switch between hdr and ultimate when I want to and what are the risks of modding my switch?
Yes, hold L when booting Smash
Only risks are bans if you cheat or pirate. Just game mods won't cause bans

How do I update Smash Ultimate to 13.0.1 on a banned Switch to be able to play this mod?
check on sum websites for the actual nsp rom for smash and they usually have the update (sry for being a year late)

So on hdr now loading screen when selecting characters it just closes software cause an error occurred … I did everything plus the region change of my game and nothing… help

I did this install 3 times, and each time the game with HDR crashes. Without HDR, the game runs fine. Is there a solution to this? (I used the laucher as well)

Same problem here. Originally things ran fine, now it doesn't about a month later. Two fresh installs, asked the discord, nothing.
Whenever I boot HDR or any other mod, the Game now crashes on startup and an error screen appears with an exclamation sign prompting to go to the HOME menu.

Ryujinx emulator is the only way without an expensive modchip (at that point just get a used switch console only from ebay)

Nevermind, I got it working for Ryujinx.
@@yowhagoochie You need a specific version of the Ryujinx emulator that you can get from here: github.com/Ryujinx/Ryujinx/pull/2966#issuecomment-1003648371
Once you have that set up, you need Acropolis and Skyline. You can get them from here: github.com/skyline-dev/skyline/releases and github.com/Raytwo/ARCropolis/releases/
Once you have the emulator set up and working, open the mods folder for smash ultimate. Drag the romfs folder from acropolis into your smash ultimate mod folder. From the skyline folder find the exefs folder and put that in the smash ultimate mod folder.
Get HDR from here: github.com/HDR-Development/HDR-Releases/releases/tag/v0.3.7-beta
Once you’ve downloaded that, open up the zip. Inside, drag the folder sdcard into your Ryujinx folder (in app data, you can access this by going into Ryujinx, file, open Ryujinx folder. Overwrite if it asks. There is another folder in the HDR zip called mods, keep opening until you get to a folder romfs. Drag this into your smash ultimate mod folder. Overwrite if it asks. You should now be set up and ready to play it.

How do I disable HDR without deleting it and without disabling my other mods ? I kinda want to keep my custom skins
Go into the ARCropolis mod manager and disable:
- hdr
- hdr-assets
- hdr-stages

EDIT: a discord member told me "wiggle your stick down and right on the main menu" it worked

Yes you can, there's a matchmaking channel in the server, or you can play with friends who have the mod in private arenas as well

I've Never modded my Switch... And I'm a lil scared about it like, if i patch it Can i bring back it like beafor or should i be able to play online again ? Mods are not permanent. You can play online with this mod if you use battle arenas with friends who also have the mod. You can play it on emulators online using Parsec, but that requires good wifi
If you turn your switch off and then on again, it will be as if nothing happened. The nintendo homebrew discord server is a very good place to get help!
Damn. When I launch the eshop it just loads the normal eshop.
EDIT: I am dumb I was thinking you didn't have to be in the jailbroken mode for some reason. But I did lose all my save data since I had to basically re-homebrew my old switch again and format my storage. I am sure I can find a fix
You're supposed to back up your SD card first. At least in the guide provided here

@@Wulf_YT nope, more mods work on ryu but only on a specific realease version. Not all mods work tho, stuff like the training mod doesnt but code mods like ultimate S do

Is there a tutorial on how to get the inital modding done? I'm sick of the dogshit physics in this game eating my inputs and just want to be able to shield when I press the R button instead of 4 seconds later when my character arbitrarily reaches the end of a dash.

@@buffbear7890 yuzu doesn't support skyline/arcropolis (something that this mod needs to run), currently, ryujinx has a custom build that does.
you will either need to wait for yuzu to support it (they're working on it) or use ryujinx

Yes in lobbies with friends on Switch or via Parsec for Emulator
If you get banned you can use fan servers to play but it is a bit complicated and you only get banned if you pirate or cheat, not just by using mods
Doing all this has cost me 6-7 days of absolute fury and frustration.
At this point I wish I were dead, I could literally steal any switch game emulated and play it EZ
