hello, what do you use at 0:58 around the bar? because I don't understand very good (when it's talk) and I need the same because I have a bar at home very thin and it hurt my hands. thank you for the tuto! But I must get strenght in handstand before ;)
very nice video and gives me some good understanding. could you answer me one question? whats the hardest to archieve : human flag, front lever, planche, muscle up, handstand pushups ? id like to know what i should start first with :)
+Damien Davis Thanks! I'd say the hardest to achieve are front lever and planche, some people might say that the planche is the hardest and vice versa, but it depends if you have stronger pulling or pushing strength. Muscle up is usually what people achieve first.
+elementour Good question! I'd say the best width is with arms at about a 45 degree angle with both arms. The bottom arm needs 45 degrees or less otherwise it'll have poor support, and the top arm needs 45 degrees or more to be able to pull properly.
your hands should be more wide for protect your forearm and no injuries. focus, d'ont twiste to much (your body) for a perfect side lever. it's more esay to learn a down way than a up way. practice the opposite side too. have a great training and congrat's.
+Pedro Guerreiro They're kitchen rails, but as +blah blah suggests, something like this would be safer www.amazon.com/Moen-8732-Home-32-Inch-Stainless/dp/B0037XRPUA?ie=UTF8&keywords=bathtub%20bar&qid=1460556339&ref_=sr_1_9&sr=8-9
Well it actually depends on the exercise and it would be impossible to come out with a general rule for all the exercises in calisthenics, but broadly speaking, for exercises that involve isometric holds (such as human flag, planche, front lever, etc.) 4-5 sets of 5-10 seconds holds is usually a good idea. That is, do 4-5 sets of the exercise progression that you're currently able to, and start with 5 second holds. As you improve you will be able to hold for longer and longer until you are able to hold it for more than 10 seconds. Then move on to the next level.
I'd say at around 40% - 50% of your bodyweight, although it's only my rough estimate (based on the fact that the human flag requires slightly less lats strength than the front lever).
I just wanted to show my appreciation for these videos. Thank you so much!

+Res Fa I wrap the bars with duct tape, but I think getting something thicker as @blah blah suggests would be better :)
I use tennis wrap sometimes works really well

how many seconds should I be able to hold the low human flag hold before moving on?
+Astro64 Hi, you don't need too long, if you can hold it for 10-15 secs you should be able to move to the next step :)

How do you work out how wide your grip should be with the human flag
+elementour Good question! I'd say the best width is with arms at about a 45 degree angle with both arms. The bottom arm needs 45 degrees or less otherwise it'll have poor support, and the top arm needs 45 degrees or more to be able to pull properly.
Great video bro! Very well explained! I also have a couple of humanflag videos on my channel! Let me know what you think! Keep it up!

What is the name of those things you bougth for the wall to pratice human flag? (i cant understand the name in the video sry)

What is your opinion on the best way to program your calistenics, for instance, 5 sets of the progression you can hold for 5 sec, something like this?
Well it actually depends on the exercise and it would be impossible to come out with a general rule for all the exercises in calisthenics, but broadly speaking, for exercises that involve isometric holds (such as human flag, planche, front lever, etc.) 4-5 sets of 5-10 seconds holds is usually a good idea. Just wondering, what kind of percentage of my bodyweight should i be able to do pull ups with to have the strength for human flag ?
I'd say at around 40% - 50% of your bodyweight, although it's only my rough estimate (based on the fact that the human flag requires slightly less lats strength than the front lever).
