  • In this video we are going to build up an all purpose gravel/touring bike.
    Using a mix of parts and highlighting the microSHIFT Advent X drop bar kit, and the Coefficient Cycling AR Wave handlebar.
    Lets take a close up look, weigh them in, and see how they work.

    Thanks for the in depth review. Which Ergon saddle is that?

      I'll have to go back and see what's on their. I swapped a few around trying them out. I do believe that's the Ergon SR Pro. I also have the SM model that I swap around with different bar set ups.

    You could also add a suspension fork lock on that extra lever on the left brifter. They're all cable operated.

    Thanks for the video. Thinking to do the same replacing a crappy 2x10 tiagra (can't stand it). You didn't mention anything 'bout the brakes though. I have hydraulic and don't know which mechanical are affordable.

      Thanks for the message.
      If you are going to go with cable disc brakes I would say the two higher end options are the original Avid BB7 road or the newer TRP Spyre. The TRP has the dual action which squeeze the rotor from both sides much like the hydros. There is also the option of using the Hyd/Mech hybrid calipers like the TRP HY/RD or the Origin 8 vise. Both of which I've reviewed in different videos.

    Same setup advent x drop bar, with the grx crank. Didn’t get the wolf tooth. I got wider bars for bike packing front bag. I mostly use it for rail trails GAP and C&O.

      Going from Pittsburgh to DC is on my list of trips to do with this bike. How is everything working for you?

    • @Sr89hot
      @Sr89hot 4 года назад

      The first time I rode the GAP and C&O, I did it on a Mt Bike. My fingers were numb for two weeks after because of limited hand hold positions. The drop bar on the gravel bike fixed that. Plus being more aero really increased my speed.
      Also if you decide to go the DC to Pitt direction, the 48 tooth will make the climb out of Cumberland Md. a lot easier.

      what kind of chain did you use and is it shifting smooth for you?

    • @WattOnWheels
      @WattOnWheels  3 года назад

      @@scifctn basic SRAM chain. Nothing special. Crisp and smooth. One of the benefits of the system. It is much easier to keep inline compared to 12 speeds.

    Where can you find the Advent X sold as a pair with the integrated dropper post lever?

    • @WattOnWheels
      @WattOnWheels  Год назад +1

      As far as I know, it has never been offered as a paired set with the Left side accessory lever. It is only available individually as the Advent Left Side Integrated lever Part Number SB-M090-LD

    What size front chainring are you running?

    • @WattOnWheels
      @WattOnWheels  3 года назад +1

      I am using a 40 tooth. With this gearing it serves mostly road and path duty. I may get a smaller front ring for more rustic gravel/trails and bike packing.

    • @paulpk2895
      @paulpk2895 2 года назад

      @@ericwhite5165probably, depends on your use. I went for 40t and it seems decent for a mix of roads and trails with gradients. 42t would be better for flatter surfaces or roads and I’d go 38t or smaller for hillier regions 👍

      @@dasauto7346 I have BB7 road because I got a very nice deal on them through the shop. I can also reccomend the TRP Spyre. They actuate both brake pads at the same time. There is also the hydro/cable hybrid brakes. Check out the video I made about the TRP HY/RD. It explains a lot.
