Toyota Tacoma Pickup rears are basically a smaller/lighter version of a Ford 9"/Mopar 8 3/4"..
I't s 3rd member but with a 8" gear and the rear is a dime a dozen.....probably used in 1 million trucks/SUVs over the years. Best it has similar WIDE Aftermarket support like the Ford 9".

chair362 The last car that broke was the one in the space race. They had that car fixed and hooked up the next day. I would trust them with mine anyday. If my car was going to break, Donut Garage would be where i would prefer it to happen for sure.

Hi guys , The Toyota rear axles are commonly used on smaller bodied cars as they are lighter and fully capable of taking massive power and drag slick launches.
They are available in 28 spline axles , commonly available parts and upgrades for them in Australia . They can be found in Hiluxs and even Toyota Vans .
GEMWRC also because the width match’s the car better than a full size live axle would.
seen that mini a cool while back on craigslist for dirt cheap. Glad to see someone has kept it alive

The Toyota rear end from a 4Runner/Hilux is used in a lot of cars in Australia because there are so many of them they are cheap as chips and they are a really good solid rear ends that handle a lot of power. My mates running one in a 600hp 13bt with 4.11 gears in a drag spec RX4. Thing has never had any issues
Another guess would be that it was an appropriate width. This was obviously a budget build, and a rear from an american muscle car would likely be too wide, need to be modified, etc. a Hilux rear likely fit just right.
I scrolled through bullshit for this gold. I run a toyota 8" out of a 76-85 pickup in my LS swapped 1971 Toyota Corona Sedan Deluxe and beat the shit out of it.
They are just bulletproof straight out the factory, that's the main reason. And availability.

I think its prob a dart block with aluminum heads, so fully assembled Maybe around 550-600 pounds? so you arn't looking at 500 pounds more weight on the car *have to subtract the weight of the original motor* I could see 700 pounds over what the original weight being possible....

@@garethlatcham5993 he didn't do anything but add a few name brand parts. he didn't do the fab work. how can he showcase a build on this like it was pridefully built with his own hands. you would understand if you actually put your time into a build. it's not as bad if you don't have the expensive tools to do your own build but that still is an excuse and I've seen many do good work without the proper tools. i understand people can envy the real car scene and not be knowledgeable enough and just buy a car because it becomes a passion.

Some old-school knowledge about the no-intercooler setup here. If you've got a carburetor with a blow-through turbo like this, the boosted intake charge causes the fuel to atomize as it blows through the carb, which lowers the charge temp about 100 degrees from pre-carb to cylinder head port.

To be fair, tons of the cars they showcase aren't built by the people driving them. They're built by some shop that was paid to build it. This is especially true of any of the race cars or crazy builds on here. Sometimes the guest is the owner of the shop or whatever, but plenty of the cars on here aren't built by the owner.

toyota diffs are very tough for their size. i punished my stock toyota diffs with 42" tractor tires and a 350 on my monster 4runner. the rear diff held up fine, but the front diff bent at the knuckle balls after getting quite stuck haha!

Kareem Rose-Benton watch some boostedboiz videos...he runs between 4 and 700 horsepower on all his cars with ebay turbos and they hold up just fine...
Make sure you got a backup on the bench lol. Mine always had shaft play after a year or so of heavy beating. Worth the price though.
Also need to bear in mind 'ebay' isn't the manufacturer...there's different Chinese turbo manufacturers selling their products on ebay...some will be utter dog shit, but some are actually pretty well built...it's just knowing the best ones to buy I guess...
