Whew! I had Scaler 2 working, Reason as rack and an old version as rewire, but for the life of me I couldn't get InstaChord to work. I rarely use simple instrument tracks so your insight into into completely bypassing the dual tracks thing worked, and it has been the only way I've made it work in CW. Some places you can insert these things as MIDI FX, but not in CW. Thanks a million, man. Straight up!

Discovering this, just now. 😥 do you use your keyboard for previewing the sounds on Chordz plugin? I can't seem to make mine work, its annoying to mouse over changing keys and click preview. teach me oh wise one.
The chords plugin has no sounds with it.. it just triggers the vst that you have to make sounds... And I use a keyboard but you can use the virtual keyboard if you don't have one an play from your typing keyboard.... Yo! I brand new to CW and I was playing around and came across midi chords in CW. I don't know what I did to get them. You just dragged and dropped them wherever you wanted in mix editor and that selected instrument played those cords. I'm looking to see how to do that. Are you familiar with that?
Yes I know what you mean... As long as you have a vst instrument that can play sounds selected you can try midi by clicking it and drag it into the track view to keep it as midi... You can also do this with midi packs that you get from cymatics or Unison.. hope this helps

I am new to cakewalk and not versed in MIDI enough to know though...can I ask, this chords for example is used as keyboard input, you route to symphony track, and end up with then a MIDI “recording” in the symphony track. But now when you go to or want to actually record the sounds, you have to route that MIDI recording into a plug in synth set to audio?
I make 2 instrument tracks... The generator instrument track plays the notes with 1 key on the keyboard and the other track is for the instrument where the sounds come from.. So what you are doing is linking the generator to the instrument.. I know it seems confusing but thats the basics.. So when you record the instrument track it it will show all the notes you played in midi form but if you record the generator it will only show the 1 note you pressed either way it should work. I like to see all the notes so if I need to change them later I can. Hope this helps..😄🙏

Makes perfect sense, the chordz is the real input, to the other synth (that is recording the MIDI information), but here I normally think that the output of the synth then has to go to an audio channel to record the actual audio...but I’m thinking sometimes I see someone with just one track both using MIDI and getting audio. I think I’m mistaken, and that to write the audio to a track , I need another track for audio that routes the synth to audio? Anyway, I really love your videos, yours and “creative sauce”’s have been life and time savers, but most of all frustration savers! Great job!

Ok... The midi chord pack is just as it says midi.. there is nothing to install it is all midi data.. so to use it you will need to setup a vst in Cakewalk by adding an instrument (it can be any vst like the TTS1) then go to where you installed the midi pack and drag and drop the midi you want to use on the vst track in Cakewalk... and it should play the midi .. that's it that all the midi pack does... Ok.. You might be talking about change sounds in you vst... Maybe..🤔 if that is the case just change the sound in the vst that is liked to the key board... But....It sounds like you need a sampler 🤔... So you can place different samples on different keys on your keyboard you might wanna pick up a sampler vst due to cakewalk does not come with one... The best ones for free to do what I think your trying to do is tx16w or grace sampler.. Hope this helps..😄🙏
There is no sampler like that in Cakewalk you can record a track to another track but it will only be audio .. so if you want to combine tracks you can just bounce to tracks and it will make a brand new audio file with combined sounds
In the track view there is a drop down and it might say Custom in the little window... Click on it and chose All... This should bring up all the options in the track view... I hope this helps..😀🙏🏾
Cool video, but have you ever tried to record using Chordz when you set it up to not play the chords at once (in the next velocity tab)? For me, it works completely fine on its default mode (all notes at once) and I record fine, but when I try to set up playing the notes in the chords at different times and velocities, Chordz does that fine before recording (I can hear the chord play out), but when I record, it only plays the first note. Again, it works fine when I'm not recording, but when I record, it only records one note (not even the chord). However, it records fine in the default mode. I tried turning things on and off (follow trigger notes, relative timing... etc) and nothing works. Even if I send the output to an audio track to just record the audio (not midi) it'll play through the audio track fine before I record (you can see the meter going up and down on each note of the chord). But, when you hit record, again only one note outputs to the audio track... same as with the midi. Also, if you record to Chordz (not the instrument) it records an entire chord in default mode, but only one note when you change it as well. And yes, I'm holding down the key to go through all the notes.
Yes I have tried it before and it worked fine in cakewalk I record strait to the instrument track and it shows all the chords that are pressed with the velocity and timing differences... If I record to the chordz track it does only show the one not I pushed.. Hope this helps...
@@XELOhh1 The way you set things up is fine too, but you don't need to add it a synth instrument. You can add like normal, and just go to the midi tab where the fader is on the left for the instrument and select Chordz from midi input. I just tried it a few more times and I don't get anything. Actually, Instachord actually words when doing slow strums, but I like Chordz better because I have more control over it. Are you sure you tried to record in Chordz and not another plugin like Inatachord?

Ok.. I got ya... It looks like I havent tried to record with the different start times... If its off by even a millisecond it wont play that note at all in cakewalk from chordz when recording or just hitting play.. Yea that's correct... The first note is not recognized in Cakewalk if you start on the one... So start on the second bar if you are using chord generators... I'm not 100% sure why it doesn't capture the first note but starting at the second bar has been my work around... It took a while but I had some good teacher and artists that where willing to jump on alot of beats I made. That would be my suggestion is to get an artist to grow with so that you both grow together and create a sound..😀🙏🏾 Let me know if you have questions

My Chordz plugin doesn't work. When I press my MIDI controller it doesn't do anything
Make sure the echo is on both tracks or you will not be able to hear the sounds from the generator
not gettin no sound when i connect my launchkey37 with chordz and ripchord.the keys are responding but no sound my echos are also on
What vst are you using for sound... Chords and RipChord don't have sounds in them?

Make sure the input echo is on both the midi and the generator.. Its located next to the arm record button on the track... Hope this helps

I use Sonar X3 studio, it doesn't work on my DAW.
Which one where you trying? Chordz .. Insta chords... Or other..🤔 it should work.. In all of the Sonar X series...
@@XELOhh1 Insta Cords.Midi signal enters instachords but I do not have a signal at the input to the synthesizer plug-in. Enable midi output -on.
