And keeping it a buck, if Bandlab keeps supporting Cakewalk by Bandlab, just building on what you have makes sense. There are very few quality Cakewalk channels on RUclips. If they totally pull the plug, I find Studio One has been a popular alternative for cakewalk users. If you are looking to appeal to your free/low cost base, the natural choice seems to be reaper. Tracktion is free but it has an awkward workflow for many. Granted, you could be the guy who helps people make the transition, but is the core user base large enough to warrant your efforts. At least with Reaper one can argue that they are moving to what some feel is a superior product

where do you put the theme files after download

You can just type "cakewalk by bandlab" in your browser and the first or second link will take you to the download page. I believe you need to log in or (in my case, previously be logged ) into you bandlab account to be able to download and install the update.

I think they need a major overhaul to make paid option a serious player. It's a solid DAW for free , but I am not going to subscribe for something that never addressed issues I had 15 years ago. If I can't make a full song using strictly stock instruments, it's incomplete to me.

There was an issue with some waves vst 3 plugins not showing up. This was fixed with a work around. Now with this version some waves vst 3 plugins do not show up. There was suppose to be an update/fix to the issue in the new update. Now You can’t roll back. Anyone know a fix to this pls advise..

In the software itself you can check for updates. Too bad that Sonar is subscription only. They simply shoot themselves if the foot.

Open Cakewalk and it will ask you if you want to download the newest version.

Even it is more expensive I think Cubase is the best to follow up Cakewalk.

Is it possible to load an 808 and play different notes in the piano roll like a one-shot? I tried using Sitala and I don’t see an option to get full midi range from one sample load.

When you open Cakewalk, the update windows appear. After trying the update, the errors it gave me still exist. How lazy to start with another daw. Thank you Xel!

Go with Tracktion by Waveform , for the longest time it has been considered best free daw, seeing Soundbrdge and Cakewalk exit the free daw arena, Traction will be dominating also it is fully fledged like the other daws. (Dont bring the Reaper being free daw arguement, it is tiring to see that)

It is ok, not to give away anything for free. But it is not ok, to give something away for free and make it unusuable afterwards to sell something different. At the moment, cakewalk is still running as long as we keep it updated, but i fear there will be a point, when it won't run any more. And that will be the moment for me to switch to Studio One or to Cubase. For sure I won't switch to sonar then. It doesn't matter how good the program may be...

i started with cakewalk then went to bandlab. If you think about it they are one in the same. I think you are comparing them, when they are actually related and tied in to each other in a cool way. For example, the pro channel has that one eq, just throw another eq on it in bandlab. I like what they are doing.

Yes, the cake is baked and free is a - for them. I use it occasionally but clarity is important for intensive use. Bitwig is also an alternative btw. Peace and Love.

You didn't say that Cakewalk does have its own plug-ins ready to go. EQs, Compressors, Noise Gates etc. Most people download 3rd party because some of them don't look "fancy" but they have a lot and some stick to those because they were just fine.

I have my OP-1 runing to my Komplete Audio 6 MK2. The sound is going to the audio 6 headphone outs and the IN 1 & IN 2 lights are moving… but no audio is going to my speakers. I had the original Audio 6 and was able to run audio in from anything, like my iPhone to speakers very easily. Also, I have no issues sending Ableton sound to the Audio 6. Help!

I use Bandlab for ideas, and then fine tune them in CakeWalk. I am still learning both DAWS but really enjoy messing with them. I dont intend to switch because I have invested time into CakeWalk and Bandlab. At the end of the day, I want to make music, not be re-learning for the sake of it.
