Probably the 36 minutes with the highest learning outcome for me, so far, being quite new to CbB. You're an incredible instructor/teacher, explaining things in a way, and level, that makes it so easy to understand. Never too much, too fast or too complex - just perfect. Thank you for this one!
This is the first video, in which someone was able to explain me in an understandable way about loop recording in cakewalk 👍 Straight to the point and a complex topic explained in a very pleasent and competent way! Thank you Mike, I really enjoy watching your videos 👌
Another video where you show brilliantly how to use Cakewalk. I is always surprising what a professional way you are teaching Cakewalk, never enough we can thank you for that.
I was a touring and working drummer for over 39 years. I always wished I could write music, but not playing a stringed instrument made it very hard to convey my ideas to other musicians. This is fantastic = but useless unless you know what you're doing. The matrix is the best way for me to work out ideas quickly, and spend the most time in piano roll editing and layering effects Thank You!!
Thanks for doing this one! The Matrix is something not everyone thinks about. But I'm glad I took the red pill and stayed in Wonderland to see how far the rabbithole goes. 😁
Another very informative video! As some have said, not sure I have a use for it (at least not yet), but it's nice to know it's there and how it works. Thanks for everything you do to make our music-making lives a little easier.
OMG! I love this video! It was so well made. I could see where you were clicking and the explanations were great. I feel like I have learned something and I think I'm going to be obsessed with the Matrix now.
Amazing what Cakewalk does. Thanks Mike. Your smiley face always brings sunshine to my cloudy... Sorry mate. Forget the sledgehammer metaphors. Shit. Another one.. Your Cakewalk vids are wonderful. Thanks.
Thank you Mike for your support and teaching in the different methods of recording performance using the Matrix style... I've never tried this before but now I have learnt it from you...🙏🙏🙏 Bless you Mike!!!!
Maybe a Novation launchpad would make sense in combination with this feature. Especially for people who had some experience with loop stations. Coz you get this device used starting 60 EUR/U$ This feature is interesting mostly for people who do not work with an arranger keyboard as well. As I do compose mostly the basics of the Sound carpet on my Yamaha Genos, where you already have a lot of styles with up to 8 "tracks": drums, bass, rhythm, harmonic, pads and other. using a lot of voices from this instrument, for me it is "nice to know". I am used also of this working model, as the keyboard has "multi pads" which are more a less what this matrix does. But, clearly, not everybody is able to spend 4k EUR for an instrument if its only foreseen for recording. Anyhow, I might test this way to work using Cakewalk as a loop station for any kind of "dancing" production. We'll see.
I was one of those you described in the beginning. Thank you for another awesome Cakewalk tutorial! (I already missed them). That the matrix doesn't have some kind of "focus mode" (midi used for the matrix, while view is open), is a bit disappointing. But you definitely made me giving it a try!
Hello Mike and I hope you are well. The second time through listening and watching your most excellent video the penny dropped and I am now having so much fun using the matrix. Please do a new lesson everyday!
I was aware of Matrix functionality, but have not used it till now. After this video, I think I try to use it, in piste of the peculiar user case (I produce not songs but complex and long-length instrumental tracks. Great tutorial video, wonderfully designed and structured.
Awesome! This is similar to the Session view in Ableton Live. So far I thought this is their unique selling point. But it's available in Cakewalk too! You just opened new horizons ... Thank you!
In ableton you can record new cells as well as start and stop existing cells during the performance. I don’t think you can do that here but I’d love it you could tell me I’m wrong
with start/stop i think it works as shown (by pressing the arrow or trigger with the midi pad) to record (live) the cell content, it will be hard as here only the assign content functionality get provided.
This reminds me of Ableton Live. Its pretty much how entire Ableton is built. It is mostly for Live performance wich is a cool feature to have. Turn your DAW in to a DJ console with a click.
Hi Mike, I'm not confused but would be interested in you doing a video on suggested set up of media and other paths , i.e. when you selected audio Library at about 16 minutes in. to this video. recommended paths etc. would be helpful as you seem very organized, would like to see where I can improve mine . tks.
Terrific presentation. One question: how did the audio tracks get "fit" to exactly the correct amount of time? Did you trim them before using them, or do they get automatically "fit" to the time of the matrix cells?
Hi Mike : I already had read Matrix View on manual twice. Also made a summary for consultation, but know what mode to choose and how to organize thinking, is another thing. Still have to get used to it; it's a question of workflow. Thank you for this video.
Nice video, Mike. I hope you're all healthy down there. This matrix thing is very similar to what you see in Ableton Live. But it seems very useful to me. I am also thinking of something that I am not meant to do. It often happens to me that I have an idea in my head that I can't really play yet. Stupid, I know, but this is what's happening to me. But I could respond to parts that I could then link. I have some thinking to do about this...
If I have two MIDI controllers, will they both trigger the Matrix? I would like only a specific controller to do it and not just any controller. It's possible ?
I really love your videos, Ive been composing non stop on Cakewalk since seeing them. I have a midi keyboard, a Donner Spacline dmk. I really want to map sounds to the keys, and the pads. and I was wondering if you could do a video that would help out. it is my understanding, cakewalk can't do this. Midi mapping I guess. But I want to be able to fully use the keyboard.
I got to this level before but never got comfortable building songs with it. Often I will have parts that are of different lengths, not all just 1 measure clips. I use omnisphere as my VST synth and I assign different sounds to different midi channels. I found that in step sequencer view everything got forced to channel 1 - that would be an issue I'd love help on. Love Cakewalk and your videos have been a real help!
Really good stuff, I understand the matrix much better now but I'm having this issue with the MIDI learn. It seems like all my other keys are already bound to something and it isn't accepting my input.

Thanks Mike, I always learn something new from your videos
That's a fantastic presentation. To the point, accurate and thorough. Thanks Mike, one of the most usefull videos in my library.
Oh nice. That Matrix thing is one of the many things I had ignore till now :D
Now you will know!! Its actually really fun to play with once you set it up :)
Damn I slept on that function... thanks for the thorough walkthrough...
Another very informative video! As some have said, not sure I have a use for it (at least not yet), but it's nice to know it's there and how it works. Thanks for everything you do to make our music-making lives a little easier.
So happy to hear that you and your family are safe. As always Mike, another great informative video.
Thanks Mike. Never even attempted to use the Matrix View. Thanks to this video I will certainly give it a bash. Well done!!
Another winner, Mike! I've always ignored the Matrix view! Thanks so much for your excellent tutorials!
Thanks John, I hope it's useful to you!
thank you so much! i always come to your channel when ever i get stuck on something related to cakewalk, and it always helps.
Always wondered what to do with that bloody thing. At last, something useful. Cheers mate. Stay Covid free
As I said in a previous video of yours: "You're simply the BEST"!!
OMG! I love this video! It was so well made. I could see where you were clicking and the explanations were great. I feel like I have learned something and I think I'm going to be obsessed with the Matrix now.
You have a perfect explain, i have anderstood some cakewalk's topics where i was in trouble.
Many thanks
Always wondered what that section was all about!! Thanks, Mike - glad you are back in the House!
Cheers Richard!
Welcome back Mike and hope all is well and are safe. As usual your video is very helpful and detailed orientated. Great job.
thanks Mike.. you have helped me demystify this intimidating tool in Cakewalk.. I'm writing things now, this makes it far easier.. thank you !!!
An excellent video, very clear and simple to follow. I'm surprised that anyone could give this a thumbs down.
Fantastic step-by -step instruction. Concise yet thorough. Thanks so much!
Very clear. Your video appears exactly the day I need it.
You are the Best Cakewalker!!!! Very thanks!!!
Thank you Mike, this Video is really helping me to improve my Workflow in Cakewalk. I never realised the Matrix. I appreciate Videos like that.
The midi echo explanation! Thank for that, it was driving me crazy!
Didn't know this existed. Another reason to avoid the expensive change to to Ableton! That's amazing 😁
Thanks Michael, enjoy!
Thn k for a such wonderful session on matrix view. Helping us go more learning about our cakewalk. Thanks bro

This is perfect for how I prefer to compose, didn't even realise Cakewalk had this feature, cheers!
Thank you! Saved me hunting to find a looper, as it's built in! Love your content!
A great clear explanation as usual!
very nice Job, Mike.
Incredible Cakewalk !!

Wow…. Great information and tutorial on matrix and looping. Thanks Mike
Well Explained. Thank you very much !
You've Done It Again!! Very useful!!!
This is priceless to me - Thank you! You're an excellent instructor
Your lessons are just FANTASTIC! Many thanks!
I love your video's Mike!! Thank you for your work!! You make my life a little less complicated.. :)
Lol, thank you..... meanwhile, my life is so complex!

Very useful thank you. Amazing what cakewalk can do just for free!!! I have been a registered user since the dos version.
This looks really handy and quite simple too.
Very good explanation. I suppose this is what DJs do.
That was really helpful ! Keep making us happy ! Thanks a lot !
I have been waiting for this tutorial!!! I'm hoping that it can be something that can be utilised for live looping
Very well made tutorial... Thanks
Wow. I just learned a LOT in a very short time.
Absolutely valuable! Thank you, Mike. 👍
That's the most useful video I came across
This is great! Thank you!
Hi great video, I cannot find link to the audio? Many thanks for all your lessons!
Thank you for making these tutorials! Life saver :)
Excellent tutorial!
Very cool, indeed. Thanks Mike. Tempted to create a kind of looper with this using my Liner 6 Helix floor effects trigger it. Could be fun.
Outstanding tutorial. Thanks!
I hope they improve on this and take on the Ableton Live in live looping. Great tutorial, thank you!
Great sharing, Mike!

Excellent video !!! The best !
I guess the closes thing to the matrix in studio one is the showpage? Thanks for the video.
Thanks! Very useful tutorial.. Please tell us how to load guitar impulse responses for us guitarists.
Nicely done.
superb video mate
Thanks for the tutorial!
Subscribed >:D

Excellent tuition and Vids
Mike, have you done a video on looping that includes changing notes - say if you wanted the loop to follow a 1-4-5 progression?
Terrific presentation. One question: how did the audio tracks get "fit" to exactly the correct amount of time? Did you trim them before using them, or do they get automatically "fit" to the time of the matrix cells?
can we directly record in the matrix view?
Great content, as no less expected. Thank you, as always!
Thank you mate!
This is ace thanks
So good. It looks like they deconstructed the Looper from the bandlab app or vice versa.
Hi Mike : I already had read Matrix View on manual twice. Also made a summary for consultation, but know what mode to choose and how to organize thinking, is another
thing. Still have to get used to it; it's a question of workflow.
Thank you for this video.
Thanks very useful.
This makes arranging so much easier, I didn't know! What about automation?
Nice video, Mike. I hope you're all healthy down there. This matrix thing is very similar to what you see in Ableton Live. But it seems very useful to me. Thanks alot for this video. always very helpful :)
If I have two MIDI controllers, will they both trigger the Matrix? I would like only a specific controller to do it and not just any controller. It's possible ?
Thank you! I just didn't understand if we can change the midi already downloaded to the matrix?
Same interface as Cakewalk's MC6! Handy.
Great content!
Here's a question: Can I record my midi triggers a regular midi track and replay that way?
nice show sir!
*Lightbulb!* As ever, life-changing demystification. Can't wait to apply it to my current project. Many thanks Mike.
Lol. Thanks Sid. Have fun!
Thanks a lot. Later I will try it out in combination with my AKAI MPD218

Is there a way to queue the columns together in a way that one plays after another automatically? Thanks
Nice nice. Very cool
Really good stuff, I understand the matrix much better now but I'm having this issue with the MIDI learn. It seems like all my other keys are already bound to something and it isn't accepting my input.
I was thinking about getting Ableton live for this functionality. Now I know Cakewalk can do this as well, I don't need to spend the money.
