I wish I knew more about Mike, what his songs meant to him, what they depicted, his words and melloton draws me in a peaceful or thoughtful state of mind. Glad to see you bringing the songs back to life in a new but familiar way. Thanks
Love this song. So beautiful. Looking for music of Mikes since he left us today. The Moodies are leaving us one by one each year. RIP Mike, Ray. Graeme and Denny.
@@lindarichards8700They have earned their eternal place in the hallway of musicians that actually cared about this world and our spiritual journey whilst on it.
I have basically almost every LP, CD, VCR and DVD that the Moody Blues have ever released. And this Mike Pinder song in particular is a very strong and specially arranged song. Back then, Mike Pinder wrote great songs and enriched his works with his singing and his unmistakable vocal timbre. From "When you're a free man" I know every note, every subtle nuance. The way you presented it, all around, including your polyphonic singing, is a masterpiece (including the video, which has a very good atmosphere). Personally, I deal with music production every day (my very dedicated hobby). So, by necessity I have a fairly well-trained ear by now. Respect for your excellent work. Music by a musician.
Thank you so much! :) Whenever I've covered Pinder songs there have been elements that I could not miss out - and in this case it was pretty much all of them. ;)
Dear Owen, I must admit that you are a musician in addition to multi-instrumentalist from head to toe and you enjoy sufficient sensitivity to meet the challenge of interpreting the themes of the Moodies with the tenderness that requires at times and grandstanding in others (as in My Song). In addition to an accomplished filmmaker. A true artist in every way. I congratulate you most sincerely and wish you the greatest fortune in your career. God bless you.
A fantastic tribute to Mike now that he has passed away. A great musician and composer. This is probably his best song but there were many others on the Moodies albums and his solo ones.
Great great great! You captured the feeling of the song so well! I play keyboards and synths and I recognize how much love you put into it. Nailed the ending!!!
Thanks so much! If there's one thing I've really enjoyed about covering Mike Pinder's songs, it's trying to recreate as much as possible of that "sound" of his. :) Hopefully done it some justice along the way.
As always, a very sensitive performance, Owen. I always loved the transition from this song into I'm Just a Singer in a Rock and Roll Band on the album. Your recording is a real pleasure.
Thanks, Robert! Very much appreciated. :) (If you open this one and our 'I'm Just A Singer cover' in separate windows you might be able to recreate the transition! ;) )
Amazing...while all songs could be said to have a ton of moving parts (Moody Blues songs in particular) this song has quite a few places where phrasing and rhythm are out of the ordinary for both vocals and instruments and this was flawless...beautiful! Can't wait to listen to your other covers!
Once in a while, this song just calls me back. So glad I found this version.
You know you did a good job when Mike Pinder's wife compliments you. :- ) :- )

Thank you too!
Superb!!! Your version is excellent. This song still gives me chills....
Man, you really take these covers to another level. You even did the little diddy at the end!
Many thanks! They're quite a challenge to recreate. :)
Agree. A cover is not complete without the little diddy, at least for this song.
Beautiful 💖

Great cover. I wish to know if Pinder ever did get to see again his friend Timothy Leary again. That is who he was talking about in this song.
