This is one of their most underrated songs, whoever recommended this good shit. Best song on the album for me.
Gehenna is considered a purgatory-like place where the wicked go to suffer until they have atoned for their sins.
It was actually a burning rubbish tip in a valley outside of ancient Jerusalem, obviously the Romans didn't miss a chance when they hijacked Christianity in the centuries after Christs death to turn Gehenna into their first version of hell. Which they then changed to the Greek word hades to signify hell instead. Though hades actually only means " Gravedom" , and hell itself is never actually mentioned in the original Greek or Hebrew Scriptures.
Pls do "Gematria". It's so hard, they never even play it live. So obviously it's their best song. xD

Back in the day, People hated this album thanks to songs like Gehenna, Child of Burning Time, even Dead Memories. I am not one of those, this is a great record considering that it was such a chaotic time for the band, according to Corey and Shawn there were two to three "Slipknot" two made this album and a third sub-band made a scrapped album that we haven't heard of, yet. Songs like This Cold Black, Gematria and Wherein Lies Continue are brutal, the Tittle Track is pure blast beat. Good to see that you're giving a chance to an album that gets the hate it doesn't deserve.
You nailed it. Back when it was released this sound was slicing fans in half, a lot falling off and a lot giving it an ear. It's an album of the highest quality. A lot of these songs, if not most of the album is still treated with obscurity compared to a lot of their material, but for those that know, AHIG is a pearl of nostalgia and a musical masterpiece for a Slipknot in the throes of evolution.

True, it got a lot of hate which is a shame being Paul and Joeys last Slipknot album. I loved it at the time but find it's the one I go back to the least, giving it a listen today for the first time in a long time and Gematria is as amazing as ever. Gehanna is an insane track those 2 are definitely the standouts. I liked Vendetta but it's very Stone Sour, which is the case with a few other sections of songs across the album which I think is why it got so much hate as it seemed like Corey was turning the band into Stone Sour...the albums since then show this isn't the case. I have to say Child of burning time still sucks after all these years though, probably the only Slipknot song I can't sit through 😂

One of the most underrated Slipknot songs, along with the album its off of AHIG everyone hates on it but personally i truly love it. You guys should react to "Wherein Lies Continue" its probably the best song on that album imo
it`s a dark album, like Cyrpress Hill 3 and Far Beyond Driven, i like that style.

One of their best songs. I wish they would've done more like these. Slipknot doesn't have alot of guitar solos but this one was perfect. Glad you guys chose this one. All hope is gone had alot of hidden gems.

I freaking love this song its my favorite from them, this song was with me in my darkest times in my life, it has such a special place in my heart, i literally have goose bumps throughout the song whenever I play it, it has such an enchanting aura to it, great reaction as always and a great suggestion 🤘🤘

Think the song you referred to is Circle. That's from the album before AHIG (Volume 3 ). Albums 3-6 all have a couple more chilled/Stone Sour style songs on them.
Coming to a level of nerdiness Gehenna is one of the lower planes of the multiverse in dungeons and dragons. It stands with some of the other lower planes like Tarterus, The Abyss, and The 9 hells.
Slipknot’s production is unmatched, haven’t heard this song in a few years and one of my favorites off that album.

The first Stoned Sour album is actually pretty heavy.
I don't think you guys have a complete view of Stone Sour. Sure, there are songs like Bother or Through Glass, but there are definitely harder songs too. Quite a few on the first album, and some on all of them. You should check out some of these:

This album definitely gets to much hate. Honestly I think it's definitely one of their heavier albums. If you stick with this album I would definitely check out either Gematria (The Killing Name) or Wherein Lies Continue, both are bangers. I don't know this song almost got that Alice in Chains vibe to it. Keep it up fellas 🤘🤘🤘. Also there's an actual painting done by Botecelli for Dante's Divine Comedy where there's the 9 levels of Hell painted out as a map. Pretty cool shit.

Definitely a very underrated one from the band because many people actually dislike this song. I think its that they feel its repetitive and slow but I think it's a really cool song with a great solo, sick bass (thank you Paul for giving us this album before you departed), epic atmosphere and unique meaning.
With all hope is gone, I love all the songs but I think the one everyone would want you to do is "gematria (the killing name)". Song is so intense and technical that it's never been played live. And if I had to throw others in there, the bonus songs on the album "til we die" and "child of burning time" are fantastic examples of slipknots range and must listens.
i like this record very much and especially this song. The song gives me Alice in Chains type vibe, I don't know why, maybe because the guitar riff and harmonized vocal parts
Gehenna is I think is another word for Hell, and it sounds a lot like a word in Arabic that has the same meaning 'Jehennam' it probably has the same origin in Hebrew or something, I just fond it interesting

Tbf, even slipknot themselves feel indifferent towards it. It was, according to interviews, at the cost of their despair

Till We Die is another great song off AHIG. It's not heavy at all, but the emotion in Corey's voice is unmatched in my opinion

So, being a fan since the first album, it seems to me that each of Slipknot's albums, they always have one to two songs that tend to lean closer to plain creepy more than heavy. Be from the way Corey sings or the subject or what have you. On self titled it was Scissors and kinda Tattered and Torn. On Iowa it was the song Iowa. Vol.3 it's the Virus Of Life. I feel like this song is AHIG more creepy feeling song. This is purely my opinion so I could be wrong. Still an awesome song and album.
Very true, don't forget Skin Ticket on IOWA too, the chorus of that is as creepy as Slipknot gets!

I would suggest some bands you didn't react yet, a bit outside the mainstream metal artist. Solstafir (atmospheric icelandic metal), Alcest (french "soft" black metal), or In Extremo ( folk medieval metal).
