One of the reasons why I love AHIG soo much is because it's a combination of Groove and Thrash, Thrash is my favorite genre so it makes sense why this album clicks with me. It makes me really happy to hear Smokey say AHIG seems to be his favorite album, AHIG is my favorite too.
Why people dislike AHIG is beyond me, especially when there’s songs like Vendetta. The drumming alone is on another level and the chorus is so catchy. I hope you guys are enjoying Slipknot Saturdays as much as we are! 💜
I think because the members also dont like that album, or because most of the tracks are "slow" like its not that fast and also coz everything is super clean like the sound, the vocals everything is clean, even VOL.3 that is more "calm" isnt as clean as AHIG like the sound, anyway i dont have a problem with AHIG, just saying the reasons I think why ppl dont like it
That riff at 10:35 is one of the best unexpected Slipknot riffs, in my opinion. Damn! Reminds me of the riff that switches up the rhythm in "Only One" by them.
I see y'all got yourselves a silver play button!!! Congrats guys! Been subscribed for quite awhile now and really enjoy all your videos, happy to see you guys are getting the reconition you deserve! Keep up the good work 🤘
Hell yeah, this is one of my favorites from AHIG. Joey's drumming is relentless, y'all should check out "This Cold Black" from the same album. It's my second favorite song on AHIG after "Sulfur", there's some great riffs in that song. Great reaction as usual guys! 🤘🤘🤙🤙
I remember when everyone lost their shit over Joey's drumming in 'The Heretic Anthem', yet this song barely gets any mention... and his drumming here is faster and for longer sections. Definitely some of Joey's best drumming with Slipknot, although lyrically probably one of the weakest from the classic line-up. As for the Joey thing, the band fired him because they thought he was on drugs... when in reality he was suffering from, and hiding, the illness that ultimately made it so he couldn't play drums until he got somewhat better and rehabilitated.
He was on drugs, and that is in fact why they let him go because after Paul passed, they enforced a no drug policy and Joey couldn’t get his shit together.
Look it up, Transverse Myelitis can be caused by drug use, specifically heroin. Not saying it was the case in Joey's situation but from the bands perspective; they just lost a brother to drug use, Joey is becoming unable to play, he is diagnosed with a disease that can be caused by drug use... you can kinda see how they may have come to their conclusion.
This song is just so GOOD. If you guys liked this song, you'll probably like "Heirloom" from the new album. It has the same vibe, a catchy chorus with groove guitars and perfect fill drumming. PLEASE react to it
Y'all gotta check out "Iowa" sometime, I describe it as "15 minutes of ritualistic serial k*ller music". It genuinely freaked me out the first time I heard it as a teenager, it's disturbing as hell (especially the lyrics). I think you guys are ready for it, "Iowa" will be my most anticipated Slipknot Saturday. Great reaction as usual guys, have a great weekend guys! 🤘🤘🤙🤙
I would actually say Volume 3 was when they first changed their sound up a bit (the album just before AHIG with Duality). Vol 3 is also when I became a fan and then went back to the two previous albums and have been onboard with everything since. I would also say their newest album they just released is on par with Vol 3 in terms of changing things up musically and vocally and making people question what they’re doing. But usually when that happens a band is onto something new and cool and it just makes them even bigger.
SLIPKNOT SATURDAY! - " V " for Vendetta ( Nov 5 ), - " SocialPsycho ", yeah, I'm kinda dyslexic too, ( So don't feel bad, we're ALL had them, there days ... ) - Joey's double bass kick, crashes, etc. - time changes in the middle of the song - pre- chorus, chant: " HEY! HEY! HEY! HEY! " ( reminds me one of Marilyn Manson's late 90s song ) " DUECES! " ✌🏻😸✌🏻
Great reaction as always guys! Definitely feel the Metallica/Pantera influences on the track. It's amazing how they can nail any type of genre they want. SlipKnot are GODS!
I read somewhere clown was quoted as saying all hope is gone was too comfortable of an album for the band, that it was just going through the motions and it was generic for a knot album... There was also a lot of tension with Joey on this album, because he mailed in his drum tracks and made no attempts to collaborate with his band mates... One of the reasons they had a big falling out. Great album in my opinion. And definitely slept on
Sorry I've been distant guys. Health issues has shown its ugly face. Been playing one song to get me through, Havok-dont do it. Joey had an aggressive form of M.S. I can tell you from personal experience that once you get the diagnosis of a deadly disease your priorities change. I always thought the stages of grief was just an excuse but it's real.
@@ShanLH5 thank you for this. I did get some mobility back but my ring finger and pinky finger on my left hand fully dead. No movement. I didn't expect it would happen this fast.
I think for a lot of people main problem with this album was that they received a slightly different type of heavy, not the one they were used to. I remember talking to different people who thought that album lacked heavy songs, I was like what about this one or that one (or pretty much most of the album tracklist, including this song) and people would be like "yeah, but it's... (whatever excuse)" . So it's not like it was too calm or something, it's just some people are just to lazy to try to digest something slightly different than what they are more used to. And it's not like they've changed their genre or something, it's pretty much the same Slipknot. What makes it even funnier (and more ridiculous) is that people who complained about not enough heavy stuff were often the same people who praised Dead Memories and Snuff as their favorite songs on the album. Also, I remember reading review in Metal Hammer (before the album came out) and it called Vendetta "very much Rammstein sounding song" and I laughed really hard after hearing the song, keeping in mind that comparison. Lol, whoever wrote that article was a total idiot.
Lmaoo every slipknot video u say this is my favorite slipknot song but that’s okay cause I say the same thing all the time it constantly changing it’s hard to choose a favorite or even a top 5 for me cause this bands amazing one can’t simply pick ONE favorite slipknot song 🔥🤘🏻
A LOT of fans give a lot of hate over how things went down with Joey even though no one knows the full story and the happenings behind closed doors but that's the internet for you. Here is my take on it; Joey stated that the band fired him via email and I will agree that if that's true, that's pretty messed up especially after the years of blood, sweat and tears he pored into this band like they all have. So I can understand some guff on that part. HOWEVER, what most people come with is "thEy FiReD hIm FoR DrUg Use BuT he WaS SicK" LOOK IT UP; Transverse Myelitis (the disease he was diagnosed with that rendered him unable to play) can be caused by....(drum roll) DRUG USE. Specifically heroin. Especially acute TM which was what Joey had. Now I'm not saying this was the case in his situation but look at it from the bands perspective; they had just lost a brother to drugs, Joey is becoming unable to play and is having to be carried to stage and then is diagnosed with a disease that is usually caused by drug use. When you line it up it can be easy to see how they may have come to their conclusion. Now again, maybe it wasn't drugs and Joey was just unlucky or maybe it was past drug use that caught up to him. Or maybe the guys in the band knew and saw things we didn't and were afraid to watch another brother loose to drugs. All is assumptions and guess work. So before you cast judgement on a situation you weren't involved in, look at it from ALL sides.
Please react to 30 Seconds To Mars, one of my favorit bands 😁, You can start with the first track, from the first album: Capricorn ( A brand new name) From the album: 30 Seconds to Mars. Then "The Kill" & "From Yesterday" from their second album "A Beautiful Lie" 😁
Slipknot have clearly listened to a fair bit of Bolt Thrower by the sound of this song (and others too) :) You guys should try out a bit of Bolt Thrower, not sure but I doubt you'd know them. This song is straight fire and massively underrated. AHIG is seen as the least liked Slipknot album but no idea why. Last album with Joey and Paul 💔
I love this album
😭😭😭 Just imagine what it would be like if Paul and Joey were the part of these future projects at this time. Would be nothing but fire 🔥 🔥🔥
Slipknot Saturday should be a recognized holiday.
As a guitar player this is one of my favorite songs on this album to play. It’s challenging but satisfying through each part.
this album is the last featuring the talents of both the late paul grey and joey jordison
Coming very soon my friend
