@@Rogers_Ranger We all miss something. Even the most balanced of upbringings and emotional subtstance can sometimes not offer what you need. I can see your question, however, we all miss something. Interesting you associate SoaD, S/K and Korn - to me they are totally different. S/K I can only manage one cover version, because the cover artist does it better. My brother raves to me about Korn - but they miss me somewhere, not over the top I am sure. SoaD are great though.
This song was so controversial that the label refused to use the original name of “suicide” which forced the band to change the name to their favorite Chinese fast food. By the next year it was the most requested song on the biggest rock station in America
Yes. The band wanted to call the song "suicide" but it was deemed to be too negative. They chopped "suicide" down to "Sui"........ chopped sui............chop suey.
The RUclips algorithm suggested your channel, and I loved seeing the discussion about what’s behind the music, beyond just the heavy sound and intense visuals. Taylor - your joy in watching her reactions is hilarious and awesome!! BTW - yes it’s me, the same David Gregory that suggested Pushit. Love this song too!! Keep rockin!
The way Taylor looks at Olivia in this video is the way my dog looks at me hammered at 2:30 knowing I'm about to drop food on the floor. That level of psyched.
I always find it amazing how much music can convey a message that carries over through time. A song that I related to as a senior in high school was (showing my age) still resounds with the same message decades later. Music is powerful when depth of the message is paired with the context of a lived experience.
I love how giddy Taylor was showing this one to Olivia. It was like watching someone show off their favorite toy. Another two songs you should check out are Flaw- Whole and Three Days Grace- I hate everything about you. Both helped me thru some tough times. Keep up the amazing work!
Same here, imagine being in argentina when everybody just listen to trap and cumbia, singing about how much "street they have and how much women and money they spend" felt alone my whole f life.

Loving the channel. Recently discovered and so happy to see how (just like me, as somebody who works with students with special needs) therapists are reacting to my favourite musicians
Funny that the two songs she has reacted to so far Duality/Chop Suey were produced by Rick Rubin. And System Of A Down's first tour for this album "Toxicity" which this song is on, was with Slipknot in 2001.
She's just hovering the whole video at the right edge like :D Did you see that? :D Did you hear that? :D She has just the best smiley face and I love it
I always assumed the "Father why have you forsaken me?" was from the Gospel of Matthew, rather than the Psalm that you referred to, it was when Jesus is on the cross and yells, "My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?" Many people call God the Father, and I think the whole martyrdom tie in fits with the songs message, but that's just my opinion.
As someone who has had mental health demons for a long time (I'm ok. I wasn't for a long time but I understand myself well enough to manage my lows) the juxtaposition of constant hiding of what you feel with the moments of crying out for help is very real. The lengths I would go to be the funny and outgoing centre of the world so no-one would expect me to be in such a dark place. Only to leave hints to the world... It was like screaming for help into a pillow so no-one would notice.... To anyone that does feel that way I wish you the best. It gets easier. If it's not getting easier please either get help you definitely deserve or at the very least try something new to break the cycle of self abuse. I focused on my strengths rather than my shortcomings (and found an amazing partner in life helped). I'm still self-conscious about my shortcomings. But they're easier to swallow if you see what you do well. Be well all

I'd be really interested to see what you made of Clawfinger's "Do What I Say". I think it's an excellent expression of the cruelty that often exists in the father-son relationship. Also I think the band Rammstein will be a goldmine for you.

From OneStepAtATime: @gerardjansen36 Hi there friend, Thank you so much for sharing with us. It takes a lot of courage to be open and honest about your past, battles, and feelings. I see your strength, and I admire that. SOD has done such a wonderful job with this song, so much emotion, so much power. And so raw. I am really happy that we can connect on this. You have been through so much in life. Going through something like a brutal car accident can have such a big impact on someones life. It can change things forever. Living with undiagnosed things can create huge challenges in life. They feel cruel and unjust. But from what you've said, I can tell you are an extremely resilient person. You possess the skills to overcome life's greatest challenges. And I am so proud of you for that. I am very happy to hear that you are in good hands with therapy. That can make a world of difference. I also battle with a binge eating disorder and had great support which allowed me to overcome. It is still incredibly hard. But I believe in you. And we are here for you at HS. Please feel free to reach out at any time. Much love, Blake

From ebcoile: @gerardjansen36 Thank you so much for opening up and sharing your story. Youve been through a lot and are continuing to have things thrown at you. But it sounds like you are fighting to be better every day. Its amazing how much therapy a song can bring you, it doesn't matter if it's joyful or dark, its still speaking to your soul. Im so happy to know that you are able to have counseling and i pray also that it does bring you what you need to continue to cope with what life has laid upon you. You are a fighter and i believe that you will be victorious. We are always here when you need, whether it be to rant or to celebrate.
With Love
Eric
