On stock tires, leaving my work with a full charge, I could get home with 22% left. After I put on my 37” tires, I couldn’t make it all the way, about 3 miles short. So about a 25% decrease in efficiency. Makes sense since the tires are heavier and require more energy to get rolling
I'm glad to have found your channel. I actually changed my Jeep to your color after watching several of your videos as I had originally ordered sarge green. I've had it now a few weeks and loving it and I am considering an AEV 350 package since I live in MI and I was concerned the Jeep 4xe would struggle with the larger tires. I'll have 35's if I go down the AEV road. Thanks again
I don't think you'll get much more efficiency, but there's a good question here for 4XE owners: If you have 37's and you want to stay in electric mode, how hard is that?
AJ…Thanks for posting your e-mileage with 37”. I have a 2022, Rubicon 4xe. With factory 33” tires, it had 21.5 miles of all electric range. I switched to 35” KO2’s. My all electric range dropped to 19 miles. So your 17 mile range with 37” fits pretty well on the curve. Seems like you lose 2 miles of electric range for each 2” of added tire size. A favor from you. I currently have the Mopar 2” (sic) lift, which gave me a whopping 1” lift on my Rubicon, so I’m looking at 3.5” lifts. Could you give me the measurement from the ground to the bottom of the driver’s side transfer case cross brace…. Thank you…. Mine now is 12.5”. I suspect yours should be around 16”… I’m looking for 15” clearance with a 3.5” lift and 35” tires.
Hey brother, I have a 2020 JLU. I’m really considering the 4xE. I wanted to know what size lift did you get ? And what shocks ? Did you have to replace the driveshaft because of clearance issues? I have an ST3 TeraFlex lift on my JLU.
I went with the 3.5 inch teraflex, teraflex falcon adjustable shocks, and I did swap out the drive shaft. I love the set up on and off the road for what I do.
One question that I have not been able to get an understanding is the following: Driving in hybrid mode, with a fully charged battery and full tank, how many total miles will your lifted Jeep on 37s get (adding gas and electric mileage)?
I believe around 380 miles. I would have to test to be certain. With the 17.2 Gallon fuel tank. Estimate about 22.5 miles per gallon. The value comes when I’m able to charge every night and get back and forth to work on all electric.
Hey man quick question, does your jeep have adaptive cruise control? And if so does it still work the same after the tires and lift? I have the same set up as you 37's and 2 1/2 lift 22 4xe and mine fallows way to close at highway speeds when set to max fallowing distance.
I do not sorry. I wasn’t sure what all I’d be taking off and putting on with this build so I left some of those safety features out. Great questions though.
It does, and yes, still works after bigger tires and lift (at least in my case with a 2” lift and 35’s). With that said, the stock optional adaptive cruise control isn’t the best, it is not configurable and can be a little harsh on acceleration (knocking you out of electric). But that is true in stock configuration as well.
Yeah I do have the speedo calibrated. I’ve got the taser in there calibrated to the 37inch tires. Have you seen any report more range with larger tires? I’m going to try this again and go for more optimal conditions.
Thanks. I think, in theory, larger tires could give you better mileage, but they also weigh more and raise the vehicle giving you more wind resistance. Maybe in city driving only?
Great job. You lost about 4 miles on 37s. Not sure if all of it is due to the tires - looks like it's a bit cold too, and you did highway miles which are known to kill the battery very fast. Overall - very impressive. I guess my next jeep will be 4xe drive train - currently just a plain 2L Turbo.
I like the 4XE between the 3. The v6 the turbo or the 4XE. The only thing we can’t be sure about is the longevity of the 4XE. Will it be as reliable longer term? Time will tell
Great video - side question. If you had to guess, how much 0-60 did you lose (feel of your pants estimate)? Considering a 4xe - like the quicker pickup for city driving.
Not sure on the weight for the tires and wheels. As far as typical all electric range, I would get just below the advertised 24 miles. Around 22 to 23 miles.
Yeah, some things of note. I was in 4 wheel high, it was cold out, the Jeep was not warmed up and it was cold outside. I think these things would negatively affect the range.
Id love to know what the gas milage is after your exhaust the battery and keep driving? Also, if you leave fully charged and only use hybrid mode? Is it actually 50mpg?
Unless your speedometer was corrected for the larger diameter tires, the miles are not accurate. The mph is slower and you get one mile in less rotations of the tire. I am guessing that would add about 2 miles to the test.
Yes or rather it looks for opportunities to put charge back in. Like while coasting or slowing down. There is an indicator on the dash that shows what’s going on.
It is on 37s with 4.10s. I did not regear. I don’t believe you’re able to with the 4XE. With the torque though I don’t think you need to with these tires.
Completely disagree. My commute to and from work is also within the electric range of my 4XE Rubicon. I charge in the middle of the night at Super off peak rates or at chargers around town that are free. Why would I ever run in hybrid when I just don't need the ICE?
Nah. I go into the office 2-3x per week. Trip is 6.4 miles each way. The battery range allows me round trip plus an errand or 2 on battery charge. I only use gas on long trips and trail days. Going a month without stopping at a gas station is worth every penny I spent.
I did reprogram. Couple of things though I was in 4x4 High, it was cold, and I had the heat running. Im sure that attributed to my range that day as well.
@@aarongerman7857 the Tazer works for the 4xe (I have it to reprogram tire size) but unfortunately a lot of the really cool features aren’t supported for the 4xe, such as turn assist. I'm in Montana temps were -44 last week. Was told EV's won't do well at all in those temps. Love my '19 Wrangler Sport S.
Yeah from what I understand it won’t run in all electric in that weather so it would be nice to have the hybrid option.
Yes, I live in Wyoming and my electric mode is disabled at 5 degrees. Otherwise, I drive it in E most of the time.

the question one ought to ask is: are there slow (not even fast) chargers off the beaten track where jeeps/off road vehicles go?
One might say: it is a hybrid and you won’t need one.
Is this a serious question?
Weird question but does the heater work without the engine running? (I’m a smoker in a cold climate lol)
It does. In fact it works much quicker than a all gas model. It may be one of the best 4XE features especially here in the cold!lol

Great idea for a video. I’ll say there’s no way it gets 50. I think you’re referring to 50 mpge which in my opinion is misleading.
Great test, thanks for sharing your results. Just out of curiosity, what red decal is that on your back glass?
Thanks for watching. The sticker is from American Adventure Lab. They make some aftermarket storage soultions for the Jeeps and other vehicles.
Did you do any recalibration after you added the 37's. I'm doing mine next month.
Yes I went to my dealer to have the recalibration done.

This was a while ago but I believe my speedometer was calibrated.
Did he mention any other mods outside the lift he had to do? I’m back and forth between 35s and 37s for my 4xe Rubicon
The only major thing outside of the lift kit was the new front driveshaft.
In 42 degree weather, that’s excellent I think. My wife looses 5-6 miles all electric in those temps on stock 33’s
Yeah I don’t think it was too bad. Would be cool to get more but for me it works out just fine.
Yeah, at 42 degrees, 17 is excellent. It will go up to 20 or possibly higher when temps reach the 70s
