In my opinion deleting social media accounts is the smartest thing anyone can do. Focus on your life and family first. I truly believe social media just mentally drains an individual.
I didn’t realize how much of a problem it was for me until I went on a family vacation where I didn’t have cell service for 5 days. I experienced so many of the same things as you! I came home and deleted my apps for a while. Now I have them only on my iPad, which is tucked away for most of the day, and life feels more balanced.
Same thing happened to me. Went on vacation in the mountains and there was zero cell service. Would randomly pick up the phone and then realize there is nothing to do on it 😅 ended up deleting my social media. But sometimes still feel like I'm missing out on friends lives.
I've uninstalled FB and IG for a few months now and I never regretted it. I still check FB on my computer from time to time, but not having it on my phone and no longer scrolling on it randomly throughout the day helped me a lot. Thanks for sharing your journey.
I deactivated my Instagram just over a month ago and I can definitely relate to how you felt during this week! Way less comparison, not constantly adding things to my online shopping carts, way more productive with my time, and much more present with my family. Good for you for creating boundaries! I've tried to create boundaries with IG, but always end up back to my old ways. So since I'm only using the app for personal use, I thought I might as well delete it all together! Love your content. Thanks for sharing with us about your journey and what's been on your heart as of late ❤️
I deleted my Facebook account 10 months ago and I don't miss anything about it. It was annoying having to see a bunch of posts of other people's good stuff and end up feeling like Charlie Brown. It feels good being off it. I read a lot more than I used to. Today I began reading Billie Jean King's autobiography and so far it's great.
Social media is like a drug. First thing is admitting that you have a problem. We'll soon be coming into the festival season and England, and I can already dread seeing all the people with their phones and not enjoying the experience. When I look at people at music festivals in the 90s and 2000s. It was like another world.
So awesome that you did this! I have definitely taken a step back from IG and am not putting pressure on myself to keep up with the game. It was just getting to be too much. I now just upload whenever I want and what I want not worrying about what I think people want from me. You have such a talent for creating! I always love all your reels and posts!
Wow thank you so much for sharing this. I’ve been wanting to delete social media and when you say you felt like you didn’t have the time . Now that I can relate to. You’ve just encouraged me to delete it. It’s definitely not good for mental health
The only social media I have is Instagram, and I delete it from time to time and don't get on my phone as much as I used to. I just want to enjoy my family and children while they're young and be invested in mine and their lives rather than the lives of strangers so much, to live in this beautiful world with a family that loves me. That's how I choose to exist. However, I just started creating for my YT channel again, because it's something I genuinely enjoy (community, editing, creativity, etc.) I've been a sahm since the summer after I graduated HS, and it's just that little something for me. Not only does being a sahm get lonely, and I'm so grateful to be able to connect with other mamas on here. Also, doing YT allows me to switch things up and be creative on my own. For me, having that for myself is just as important as living in the moment with my children.
Thank you for inspiring me to do this. I needed the push to take a break. I’m feeling very burnt out but didn’t know what I needed and this might just be it.
Deleting social media can be hard. I went 6 days without it but went back to my old ways. I'm still on Tiktok but I've logged out and now, I'm telling my brain "Let's create a time for how long I want to be off of Tiktok. Lets also list some things to do in the mean time so i don't want to pick up a phone." Im currently writing my plans for leaving for 1 week because I know, once I get use to not using a phone for 1 week, i would want to go back. Tbh, its fun just not having social media around you. It feels like your life has come back. Yes, it can be hard to delete it because it has so many memories, but when you use to not have a tablet or phone, your life was awesome. Ever since I came back to Social Media, I gained more and more Anxiety. I have social anxiety, I feel insecure, and I just feel like others lives are better than mines. But now, since I'm planning a 1 week log out, that'll change everything.
Instagram isn't the problem for me. Tumblr and RUclips is. So when I do a social media break I also block YT and it always amazes me how much I miss it the first few days.
Earlier this year I gave up social media for Lent and boy was that an eye opening decision! Now I have IG and FB on my phone again but with notifications turned off and timers set in each so I can't be on too long
This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my RUclips channel 7 months ago about self development. Now I have 648 subs and > 100 hours of watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so many lessons that I could haven’t learned without getting started in the 1st place.
June 5th 2009 I started using these "Social Apps" met thousands of men and women . My goal was to gain friends.. I did but they all disappeared too. I only have one true friend from Social media .. so guess im done when June5th2023 comes. I started when I was 39years old and now 13yrs later and from personal experience that social media does affect mental health , your well being and finances. So I give this young woman alot of credit in the steps toward freedom from Social media. Thank you and good job on this video.
Knowledge is power and when applied correctly can produce good results and benefit others. Many addicted people will age with these Social media apps and wake up one day and ask themselves , What did I gain and was it a waste of time? Good luck and best wishes for those who want to quit.
Good for you!! For those reasons I never even had instagram and Facebook sounds crazy I know. But I knew if I had that I would b on my phone way too much!
This is all good, but they all go back on their decision. Society is growing in such a way, that its hard to quit social media. it's too much pressure. All ppl are in social media , even when you want to be with your friends, they are always on their phones. You have to strong to quit this addiction.
My friends aren’t on their phones when we hang out. Maybe that’s a thing for you to discuss with your friends to have more real time together. I have social media, but I deleted it off my phone a week ago and I LOVE not having it. I check it on the computer at the end of the night to catch up, but am no longer mindlessly scrolling. My mood is much better because I’m not comparing or being irritated by other people.
@@MyBeautifulChaos620this is what ima do is delete it off my phone and challenge myself to go one whole year without it on my phone and to keep going after that
It’s funny. Started a group on Facebook making you aware of the addictive qualities of social . Here’s to your genuine happiness. Take control of your life. Experts are employed by the social media companies to keep you here all day. ❤
Been off social media, Facebook, Instagram & Snapchat for almost 2 yesrs now and I can say it's been the best decision of my life. To keep a ling story short, I now feel a sense of privacy, peace of mind, no fomo, showed me who my real friends are, I no longer suffer with sever depression & I'm more present in the moments around me rather just just mindlessly scrolling thru social media. Social media is toxic and should only be used for business perposes than personal enjoyment
Good for you man, especially on the no fear of missing out part. I never missed out when I took breaks From social media and ima delete it off my phone and go a whole year without instagram off my phone
RUclips is more entertainment than social media the only real social thing about it is comments, Instagram is way worse and people need some from of socialization anyways as long as it’s not harming the person it’s okay
Awesome!! The day after I talked to you on Instagram I was going to delete the app but I didn’t. The following day though I did delete it and actually haven’t looked once to go on it. I don’t have a clue what day I deleted it though so I don’t know how long I’ve been off. And that’s awesome that you’re feeling better and happier!! 🤍
In my opinion deleting social media accounts is the smartest thing anyone can do. Focus on your life and family first. I truly believe social media just mentally drains an individual.
Now I literally quit my social media
It really does that’s why I’m deleting it off my phone and never going back to it after one whole year

That is a great analogy now that I think about it and it makes a lot of sense. Comparison is the thief of all joy and it is just not fun anymore
Congratulations on taking your life (and mind!) back!
I just deleted everything last night and I’m excited to have a more productive life.
