    I'd taken this video trying to help out a fellow forum member who bought a TJ with a 5.9 & 46RE swapped into it. And he was having issues with the transmission not shifting correctly. So this was to show him how it should be working. I have a TJ with the same setup in it but it's down right now.

      Torque converter in/out of lockup. I'm not gonna write you a dissertation, so just look up "what is torque converter lockup" on Google.

      so when the torque converter is unlocked the transmission is free to use the rpm upto the max stall speed of the engine rpm, unless it the ecu or tcu in this case determines it can downshift. So at the end of the video when he says unlocked and then locked it simply means the torque converter is locked to the transmission and the gear wont float to the stall speed but the actual gear ratio of the car. Hopefully that made some sense
